Leader
Hourglass Leader GIRL Lip Stylo ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff that covered the lips with even, smooth color. The texture was creamy, thin without being clingy or emphasizing, and softened the look of my lip lines. This shade did not seem quite as hydrating as others in the line, though it was still lightly moisturizing over the four and a half hours it lasted. It also left a subtle stain behind.
The GIRL Lip Stylo formula is supposed to have “modern color with luxurious hydration for a lustrous finish,” while the brand founder is quoted (on Sephora) stating, “I can build as much–or as little–color as I like.” I would describe the coverage semi-opaque and buildable, which seemed to fit the brand’s description. The consistency was smooth, creamy, and lightweight, but the color still adhered well to the lips (three to five hours, depending on the shade). I definitely felt like I could apply a little here, a little there, and then spread the color out by pressing my lips together for sheerer coverage, or I could apply a single layer and get semi-opaque coverage fairly easily. The formula was incredibly comfortable to wear: lightweight, hydrating, and smoothing. Some balm-like formulas that have more coverage can sit in lip lines, but I felt like these filled them and made them look softer. I didn’t notice any scent or taste.

Lover
Hourglass Lover GIRL Lip Stylo ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable coverage paired with a creamy, smooth, balm-like texture that applied even coverage to the lips. There were slight “lines” visible when I pressed my lips together, as the formula had more slip. It was incredibly comfortable to wear, hydrating, and longer wearing at five hours.

Innovator
Hourglass Innovator GIRL Lip Stylo ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium-dark brick red with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though the creamier, lightly balmy consistency would make it possible to apply less and still achieve even, sheerer coverage. The lip crayon had a creamy, lightweight, and comfortable feel on the lips, which also seemed to hydrate my lips over the five hours it lasted.

All stunners!
Yay!
I love Leader! I wonder if it’s different enough from Raspberry Pink to justify, though… the formula would certainly seem to be different…
The formula/finish would be a bit different but perhaps another shade will catch your eye?
Christine, you have been a reviewing machine lately, and I love it! Great work!
Thanks, Erin!
Kudos to Hourglass for naming these lipsticks with such an empowering theme!
Agreed!
Innovator is pretty!
It is!
These are all gorgeous and so smooth looking! Hourglass did an amazing job formulating these.
No surprise that I absolutely love Innovator! That is one stunning bombshell red, for real. However, I probably won’t get it because I really need to use up some of my many reds, but who knows? ?
Thankfully, they’re permanent so maybe when you use on a red… 😉
It seems like every line includes a color like Leader. I’m happy for those who can wear it, but I’m wondering if anyone else is tired of seeing it over and over? (Seems to be such an easy dupe color.) Especially because most lines include a fuchsia at the expense of other rose pinks, red/pinks or pink/reds in their collections. They seem to jump from a fuchsia pink right into medium reds and berries, and skip over everything else in between.
Doesn’t bother me if each line wants to do their take on a color – it means that someone who may like it can find it in their line/formula. I’d only be bothered if the brand was repeating the same shade and giving it a new name.
My comment was addressing the shade range, not the ubiquitous fuchsia shade. It’s like a big gap in a foundation shade range — same thing for lipsticks.
Thanks for clarifying!
Innovator and Lover are just stunningly beautiful shades.
They totally are!
Lover is my fave of these three 🙂 What a beautiful summer lip colour that would be. Hmmmm…..I think that one’s going on my wish list….
It’s gorgeous!
