Haus Labs Antique Rose, Empire, Grime Eye-dentify Gel Pencils Reviews & Swatches
Antique Rose
Haus Labs Antique Rose Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, rosy copper base with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold sparkle over a more metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly.
This shade worked better applied in less-overlapping strokes as it was denser, thicker, and slightly drier compared to other shades. I also felt like the sparkles had a tendency to drag some product, which resulted in a less-even layer of product. It wore well for eight hours before fading/thinning was apparent.

Formula Overview
$18.00/0.04 oz. - $450.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "creamy" without tugging and "color-packed" for "all-day, vibrant payoff" (specifically, "12-hour wear"). The full range has 20 shades (at least, at the time of the original release!), and I bought six to try.
All six I tried were pigmented with mostly opaque to opaque coverage in a single stroke. Two of the more shimmery shades were slightly drier in consistency with less glide compared to the more matte shades, though they were not difficult or painful to use on my lower lash line.
The texture was lightly creamy as it went on, but it was quick to set, so those who like to smudge their eyeliner may find this one sets too quickly to do that readily. They were firmer but not the point where they were prone to breaking or painfully tugging on the lash line. I didn't have any issues with the tip snapping off during swatching, and they were not uncomfortable to work with, but they did not glide on as comfortably as other formulas I've tried.
They wore between eight and nine hours before fading/thinning noticeably, so they were decently long-wearing--relative to the field of eyeliner--though they looked significantly worn away by the 12-hour mark.

Empire
Haus Labs Empire Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark teal with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a a lightly creamy consistency that didn’t drag or tug but was very quick to set, so it did not smudge out easily (a good sign for longevity but harder to correct mistakes or soften if desired!). It lasted for eight and a half hours before fading more visibly.

Grime
Haus Labs Grime Eye-dentify Gel Pencil ($18.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a brighter, medium grass green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single stroke, which was buildable to full coverage with a second layer or when applied in shorter, more overlapping strokes.
The consistency was firmer, denser, and had just a touch of glide to it, so it didn’t tug painfully on my lash line, it wasn’t the creaminess or most comfortable pencil to use. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before thinning noticeably.

I really like Empire. What a beautiful shimmering emerald. I am not big on liner smudging for colorful liners so that isn’t a negative for me. Just an FYI the links all go to the liquid liners, not the gel liners.
Thank you for doing your infinite dupes and comparisons. Being a total liner addict, I looked forward to these. Much to no surprise, my stash includes better dupes…so far. It is so important to hold one’s reins and wait for your review, rather than diving in.
I love Empire but I’ve got at least 2 dupes, if not more. Seeing Tarina Tarantion’s Spark of Envy listed just makes me wish so much that her company hadn’t ceased to exist.
Meant to ask – are these twist up or do they require a sharpener?
They require a sharpener!
Grime seems like a really unique color, although I think I might have CP’s Teaspoon already. I should 1. check if I have it and 2. check if it’s dried out and 3. check if I actually like how it looks on me.
Grime and Empire both appeal to me. But, especially Grime due to it being a far more unique shade of grass green eyeliner. I’ve been extremely hesitant to purchase anything from Haus Labs considering how badly they bombed in their beginnings. Might give them a chance now, though!
The first two shades I love – that rose gold shade is beautiful, but the rating is not. For my preference, nothing beats Melt Cosmetics Prissy.
The teal shade is beautiful and rates really well.
You are reviewing Haus! What fun!
I love Grime and Empire, fun green pencils. I don’t know if I’ll get them, but I quite like Haus so it’s very possible.
Thank you so much for adding a bit of Haus to all the many brands you review. I honestly don’t know how you manage, but am very grateful for the job you do.
I don’t anticipate anything else, though, just a heads up! I only bought six pencils.
I’ll find it very interesting to see which ones you bought. I have two, a dark green and a purply one, for me they work very well.
I still think you must be one of the most hardworking people I “know”. You only have one face and two eyes and manage to come up with inspiring looks every day.
