Guerlain Carousel Meteorites Pearls Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Carousel Meteorites Pearls
Guerlain Carousel Meteorites Pearls ($62.00 for 0.80 oz.) is supposed to be a mix of “fuchsia,” “soft mauve,” “sunny yellow,” and “pearlescent white” that can be dusted all-over the face. It’s a light, pastel-ish pink with fine gold and champagne micro-shimmer. MAC Pearl Blossom (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar). Guerlain Happy Glow Pearls (LE, $65.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). KVD Beauty Clyde (Light) (DC, ) is more pigmented (90% similar). NARS Cheek Studio I (LE, $30.00) is more pigmented (90% similar). bareMinerals Clear Radiance (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Hourglass Ethereal Glow (P, $40.00) is less shimmery, darker, more pigmented (90% similar). KVD Beauty Gomez (Light) (DC, ) is less shimmery, more pigmented (85% similar). Makeup Geek First Love (DC, $9.99) is less shimmery, more pigmented (90% similar). Urban Decay X-Rated (DC, $26.00) is more pigmented, cooler (85% similar). NYX Pastel Chic (P, $6.50) is less shimmery, more pigmented (90% similar). Zoeva Gentle Touch (P, $11.80) is darker, more pigmented (85% similar). Surratt Beauty Guimauve (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, darker, more pigmented (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
I wasn’t able to wear this all-over, because as soon as I did, it looked like I had applied pink blush all-over my face–and I absolutely used a finishing brush with this and lightly swept everything on. It worked better as a subtler blusher on my skin tone (light-medium with light yellow undertones), so I’ll be curious to hear from others on how they’re using it and what their complexion is. If you have more naturally pink-toned skin, it might work better all-over for your complexion than it did on me. It seemed more pigmented, which may be why the pink tone was more obvious when dusted all-over. The consistency is soft, smooth, and silky, as other Meteorite Pearls have been. Meteorite Pearls are usually intended to be used as a finishing, all-over powder, though this edition says it can be used as a setting powder (to improve hold) as well. It extended the wear of my base by maybe a half hour, but it didn’t have major impact on longevity. It does, however, produce a soft glow that looks very natural without being shimmery or metallic on the skin for eight hours.

I’m in the same boat as you! I ordered them straight away after seeing your announcement that they were available. When I saw the pink ,I set them aside and figured I’d wait to see how they looked on you! Lol . I’m not sure that there is enough pigment for a blush or enough radiance for a highlight. I love the meteorites usually. I’m going to see what everybody else comments for uses. Otherwise, I may have to return. ?
This one is a bit odd! I can see it working as a blush on very fair skin, but I’m super curious if others are using it all-over and if so, what their skintones/undertones are!
Me too! I’m disappointed though because I have a good little collection going of meteorites. But, I don’t want to keep them just for the tin if I can’t use them. I don’t think the blush usage will be enough color for me. I’ll try it out. But, I’m a smidge darker than you. It’s a lot of $ and so many other great things are on my wish list.
I had the same experience as you regarding color (I think we have similar skin tones), so this is definitely a light blush for me and *not* a finishing or setting powder. I apply generously and get a fairly subtle color- though I would still call it buildable. It gets quite pink with multiple layers! As usual, packaging is on point ?
Glad I wasn’t alone with it not working out as an all-over product, lol!
Thanks for posting this Julia! I love the packaging too! I need to try it as a blush!
These work as a lovely blush/highlight and give me a delicate, warm pink glow when swept over my cheekbones. I also like them lightly swept across my décolletage. My skin is light and warm. Spring and summer I typically wear foundations in Guerlain 02 and Clé de Peau 020; for bronzers I use Guerlain 00 or Chanel Les Beiges 10.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it, Eileen!
It does work for me as an all-over powder, but I thought it could be too pink for people with warmer or deeper skin tones than mine! It looks lovely as a luminous soft blush too for me, giving a nice glow to the cheeks, and the color is subtle but very noticeable if I build it.
Thanks for sharing! I’m glad it is working well for you both ways 🙂
I can only admire the Meteorites from afar since they are loaded with fragrance, but you look very ethereal here!
Thanks, Katherine!
I’m not sure I understand, as regards the photo. Is the GM all over, or used as a blush? The whole photo looks ‘un-you’ to me. Is the GM on our right, your left, apples to high, but not back, on your cheekbone? If warmer completions have difficulty with this, and medium plus tones as well, this will not have the rave acceptance that most GMs have. Makes me want to try it, but need it like a flat tire; still have original and a ‘deluxe sample’ of a beige.
All over my left half of my face (your right) and concentrated on the apple of the cheek.
I could see this working as a subtle blush on me but I’ll pass.
Totally understand!
It’s beautiful and I love the packaging, but this would definitely end up being a blush on me. I’ll pass.
The packaging is pretty!
Normally, I don’t like heavily scented products but I really like how this one smells. It is too pink to use all over my face but it looks so nice as a blush. For the last week or so, it has been my go to blush for a fresh glowy but not glittery look.
Phew! I’m just glad I’m not the only one who found the pink to show up more noticeably all-over, lol!
The packaging looks so fruitylicious! I’m not a fan of GM’s (using KJH’s terminology here..teehee.. and throwing her a flat tire as well), but I do love the packaging on this one.
Guerlain certainly knows how to make appealing packaging!
Hmmm. I don’t know what to make of this. The side of your face where it’s applied really doesn’t look too “off”, but more ethereal and like you have had a happy moment, LoL!
But I do have MAC Pearl Blossom, so with my being darker than you, my guess is that Pearl Blossom is about as pink of a highlighter as I dare go. Let’s put it this way, my Pink Swoon blush looks pretty darn fake on my winter shade of NC37 Studio Sculpt! I guess bluer pinks don’t like me? Yet, purples do? Weird, huh?
I wish it showed up more obviously on camera, lol!
I am very pale and cool toned and I have used this as an all-over dust of color and as a blush. I like my Claire Meteorites better for all over and prefer this as a blush. It is actually pretty pigmented for me as a blush and gives a nice radiance to my cheeks. I am one who absolutely loves the scent of Meteorites and wish I could drown myself in the smell!
Deborah
Thanks for the info, Deborah! Good to hear from others on how it’s working/not working. Sounds like they should have advertised as a blush 😉
I still don’t have any Meteorites, they are so pricey here, I’m always tempted, so I will absolutely swatch when I see it at Sephora.
Have fun swatching, Helene!
Hmmm – I am not as thrilled with this product as I thought. And a very expensive one if it doesn’t quite work out the way you would like.
True! Definitely one you really have to think about how you’d use it.
I love the packaging but I’m not enthused by the finish of the product on the skin. I have Clear Radiance in The Royal Court and I love the subtle glow that gives me so I’m happy.
Yay! Glad you have a dupe that works better instead 😉
Christine, this is random but have you ever finished a box of meteorites?!
I finished mine yesterday after 3-4 years of regular use. It was a surreal moment. I thought it was impossible, haha
I don’t really finish products, since I am usually testing something new. I am lucky if I use something old maybe once a week – other than base stuff (foundation, setting powder, etc.) 🙂
It does look very pink! I’m not sure I’d want to add that much pink on top of a naturally light pink face (like mine) — even if my skin could tolerate the fragrance in the formula. Maybe it would work better for someone with a deep skin tone with red undertones.
I wonder how it would look on darker skin tones!
Oops yeah, definitely not an all-over-the-facade product then 🙂 Pretty though! Veeeeery very pretty…
They always look pretty in their pots!
How very curious! I have been waiting for this one! I have NC 15-20 skin with both pink and yellow undertones. I wonder how this would work on me. I am sure the change in the formula (softer), making it easier to apply heavier works against you with this particular blend. I confess that the warmer one that I bought over Christmas I never wear because I feel to “yellow” every time I apply (the white and gold blend).
Maybe this one will be just right!
I kind of fell out of the loop and I’m reading back posts. I actually bought this. I have pale, cool toned skin. I don’t know what I wear in MAC but I’m a perfect match for Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in Cameo. So not super pink, but pink!
I’ve found that on days I’m feeling unwell or very tired I tend to take on a blueish cast. Probably lack of iron (it’s happened before, yes, I really look blue). So this, lightly dusted all over, brings me back to the living. On those days regular blush is usually too harsh, so I just apply it a bit more heavily on the cheeks. Works perfectly!
Happy to hear this is working well to help you look and feel better 🙂
I have Reynaud’s phenomenon, so my fingers/hands can turn realllyyyy blue!
OMG Me too! I sometimes deal with it in more places than just my hands and feet. Always had it, got worse during pregnancy (just a heads up for the future!).
It really does work if you’re very pale and kinda pink to begin with. If you’re looking/feeling under the weather this is a lifesaver! 😀
Oh, wow! I get it mostly in my hands – I might get it in my feet, but I usually wear socks so I might not notice it. I do get super cold feet, though, so maybe I need to take a gander, haha.
