Givenchy Moonlight Saison & Ambre Saison Les Saisons Healthy Glow Powders Review, Photos, Swatches
Givenchy Moonlight Saison Healthy Glow Powder
Givenchy Healthy Glow Powder ($52.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new “baked” powder that comes in five shades; one is a highlighter and four are in various bronzing hues. Some retailers have the highlighter/bronzer separated out, though they seem to be part of the same formula otherwise. I bought the highlighter and one of the bronzer shades to check out. The formula is decent with a very smooth texture, which has a firmer press and requires a dense brush or a heavy hand to get coverage out of it. The powder blends out fairly easily, wears eight hours, and neither shade emphasized pores/skin texture for me.
Givenchy Moonlight Saison Healthy Glow Powder ($52.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a very, very light white with subtle, warm tones and a satin finish. To the naked eye, I could just barely see a sheen on my skin, but it is very, very subtle. I don’t expect that the highlighter will work on that many skin tones, as it is very white-based and has little sheen, but very fair skin types who like subtler finishes may like it. It seemed to last about eight hours on me (harder for me to tell, given the color paired with my skin tone). It is actually described as “radiant” and for “strobing,” and it could function more as a finishing powder or setting powder for similarly-hued skin tones than it does as a highlighter. The shimmer/sheen is actually much less than the bronzer I picked up! LORAC Shimmer Highlight (P, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). NYX Soft Light (P, $5.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Lumiere Sculptee de Chanel Highlighting Powder (LE, $72.00) is lighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever H100 (P, $23.00) is cooler (95% similar). Givenchy Ambre Saison Healthy Glow Powder ($52.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a medium, yellowed brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. The texture was smooth, slightly firm (but not dry/stiff), and sat well on the skin. It produced a soft, lit-from-within kind of glow that didn’t look shimmery or emphasize the skin’s natural texture. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. Chanel Soleil Tan Bronze (P, $50.00) is less shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Chanel Original (P, $50.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Hourglass Luminous Bronze Light (P, $52.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Bronze Age (P, $110.00) is darker (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #20M (P, $36.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Sweet Peach Bronzer (PiP, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). Too Faced Pineapple Paradise (Bronzer) (PiP, ) is darker (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Butta Biscuit (P, $32.00) is cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #25I (P, $36.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Medium (P, $58.00) is lighter (90% similar). Cover FX Sunkissed (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Baby Girl (LE, $28.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Guerlain Terre d'Ete (LE, $78.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). NARS Laguna (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Physicians Formula Deep Bronzer (P, $14.99) is cooler (90% similar). Milani Dolce (P, $8.99) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Physicians Formula Sunkissed Bronzer (P, $14.99) is cooler (90% similar). Physicians Formula Light Bronze (P, $14.99) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Tarte Solo (-, ) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Viseart Ablaze (Bronzer) (PiP, ) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. It looks like the highlighter is in the same category as the previous one Givenchy launched (Lumière Originelle), that is almost matte and a very light color. I can see this work on light skin tones for very subtle highlighting. The bronzer shades look like they could work for a greater variety of skin tones.
It’s super, super subtle for sure with respect to sheen! I think my natural skin is more glowy, lol.
I think this could work more like a powder that “highlights” by making the areas where you apply it lighter than the rest of your face, rather than shimmery/metallic. Kind of like a matte highlight to contour?
If it’s the intention Givenchy should make it clear in the description though, because most people will expect a high sheen highlighter and may be disappointed. Saying it’s for “strobing” is very misleading!
Yep! I agree. A matte highlighter, which is something some look for but definitely isn’t what most would likely think of when they see/hear highlighting or strobing!
That highlighter is for me, for whom just about every. other. damn. highlighter out there is too dark. If it’s not white-based, it’s only good as an eyeshadow.
That’s great! It’s not so much the color that I’m bummed about – it’s more that there is so, so little sheen for something being touted for strobing, lol.
Let me know if this works for you, Elizabeth! Do you have any other highlighters that work for you?
Lack of shine would be the killer.
I can use Becca Pearl because it’s straight up white. NARS Albatross (or the e.l.f. dupe). Colourpop Hippo if I use a light hand.
Super pale girl here… Try the Burberry runway palette ( the one with the lace pattern) in white! It’s truly white shimmery highlight without being too frosty. If u want to save some $ the Burberry optic white eye shadow is the same!
Me too, though I don’t think I’ll shell out the money for it. I’ve always got one eye out for very pale powders, though.
Nice eyeshadow look! You never do look tutorials anymore.
Thanks for swatching these. Really glad I didn’t splurge on one as they aren’t glowy enough for me. I need to bling from space. 😉
No problem, Rachael! 🙂
Too subtle for my style.
Uh-uh. No, not at this pricepoint. For $52, it needs to rate an A, plus both shades seem too light for my darker end of medium complexion. Although, I definately agree that the 1st one is fair skin only, even the bronzey one appears rather light applied. Easy pass.
Looks lovely on you, Christine, but it’s awfully price for something that can be duped so inexpensively (NYX for $5? I’m all for THAT) and that also doesn’t have that high a rating. I couldn’t help but notice that you are wearing the Chanel quad…way to torture those of us not able to purchase it yet! 😉
I love the texture of these. I have 02 and 03, and I use 02 as an all-over powder, and 03 as a subtle bronzer/contour. I love that it’s not powdery at all, and just blends out very well overall. Thanks for your review!
I can see the white one working well as finishing powder for very fair skin, and the second one as a blush/bronzer for medium to darker skin tones. BTW, love your eye look! I need to dig Peridot out of my stash and dupe the look
gosh darn it the bronzer looks beautiful!
I really like the lighter of the two but would wear it as an all over glow if it was subtle as shown. Pretty!
These look very pretty in the pan but I’m a little disappointed that the highlighter isn’t at all shimmery. It’s a little too white for me to use as a setting powder. I actually prefer the bronzer, despite being fair. Luckily I have a dupe in BM’s Warmth. I love how Chanel’s Empreintes looks on you!
I bought the lightest one (moonlight/highlighter) and I ended up returning. The powder felt nice but I found it difficult to pick up and apply to my face. Oh, also, I barely saw it on my face (I’m between NC15-NC20). I tried it as an all over powder and that didn’t look great either. They should’ve added a bit more of a sheen to it.
Hmmm – not so sure about these.. However your eye look is stunning Christine
You are ruling with the Chanel Desert quad. Love how you did the green and the blendout. Just charming. The highlighter? Hardly universal. Well, matte radiance isn’t matte, so…..
Oh so pretty, both of them!
I’m NW15 in Mac so i believe that highlighter will work great for a natural radiance look on me!I hope it will launch to Greece!!!
Moonlight Saison is very nice.
