Here are three of the new mid-tone, pink-hued shades of Givenchy Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) that recently released. The Le Rouge formula is lightweight, creamy, pigmented, hydrating, and fairly long-wearing, though some of the lighter shades tend to be less flawleess in application and can wear closer to average in wear time. They have a rose scent but no discernible taste.

Givenchy Brun Vintage (105) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “muted rose.” It’s a medium, rosy pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and made lips look smoother. This one had less of a sheen compared to other shades in the range. This shade wore well for five hours on me. Chanel Fleurie (139) (LE, $34.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Indian Rose (P, $45.00) is darker, more neutral. MAC Grande Dame (P, $22.00) is warmer. Burberry Rose Pink (307) (P, $30.00) is darker, more matt.e Make Up For Ever #4 (P, $19.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Givenchy Rose Boudoir (204) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “rosy pink-toned red.” It’s a slightly brightened, medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a soft shine. It had fully opaque pigmentation that applied well to lips and didn’t settle into lip lines or tug at the lips. The color lasted for five hours on me. Revlon Snow Peach (LE, $7.99) is warmer. MAC Be a Lady (P, $22.00) is similar. Chanel Fleurie (139) (LE, $34.00) is sheerer. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is brighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shout (138) (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer. Guerlain Attrape-Coeur (171) (LE, $35.00) is slightly warmer. YSL Rose Neillia (33) (P, $34.00) is brighter. Too Faced Bon Bon (P, $21.00) is warmer. Givenchy Rose Taffetas (201) (P, $36.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Fiend (P, $22.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Givenchy Nude Guipure (106) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “brownish nude pink.” It’s a light-medium, pink-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a soft sheen. It was mostly opaque, but it wasn’t fully opaque. The texture had a bit more slip to it, so the application wasn’t as flawless as it is with other shades in the formula. This color wore well for four hours on me. Revlon Ingenue (145) (P, $8.99) is browner, sheerer. MAC Spice (LE, $16.00) is darker, browner. MAC Shanghai Spice (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker. MAC Mystical (LE, $16.00) is darker, pinker. NARS Last Tango (LE, $26.00) is slightly cooler-toned. Givenchy Rose d’Exception (206) (LE, $36.00) is pinker. Flower Beauty Petal Kiss (P, $6.98) is more matte. NARS Sex Machine (P, $25.00) is lighter, more matte. Giorgio Armani Blush (500) (P, $32.00) is pinker, glossier. Burberry Peony Rose (302) (P, $30.00) is more matte, darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I actually have Rose Boudoir but haven’t had time to open the Sephora box yet. I was so thrilled to see how pretty the shade is (your reviews do come in handy!). It has been probably my favorite (shade) of the reviews you’ve done so far – so I lucked out. I do like a couple others though….
Those bright pinks….

I’ve never bought expensive lipstick but, damn, I think I’ll try at least one of Givenchy’s by the end of this month. The colours including the ones in the previous post are just so pretty.

Quality wise, are the lighter shades of this formula better quality than most others in its price range? Or are most lighter shades in this price rage (I guess the 30s to low 40s) all sort of the same in quality? In particular how does the quality of the lighter shades compare to the quality of the lighter shades of Burberry Lipcover or Guerlain Automatiques?

I think Burberry might do a slightly better job with evenness in lighter shades, but off hand, I don’t know how many of the lighter shades in Burberry’s range I’ve tried. Guerlain’s Rouge Gs are excellent BUT most have a more shimmery finish and I find that lighter shades *with* shimmer typically outperform more satin/matte light shades, but the Automatiques are a bit more varying since they have more slip and do have shimmer.

For something that’s more satiny in finish, these are pretty good, even the light shades.
