Acqua (100)

Giorgio Armani Acqua (100) Ecstasy Lacquer ($38.00 for 0.2 oz.) has a sheer, almost milky white base with flecks of micro-sparkle and finer pearl that looked like a mix of gold, pink, and white. It’s hard to imagine this was intended to be opaque, but the brand doesn’t distinguish this shade as sheer nor does the promotional swatch image reflect a sheerer shade–but if you like sheerer, sparkly gloss, the formula is still good.

The consistency was more watery and thin as it went on initially, and then it developed into a more gel-like consistency that was smooth, moderately tacky, and had good adhesion. It wore well for five and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$38.00/0.2 oz. - $190.00 Per Ounce

The Ecstasy Lacquer formula is supposed to have the shine of a gloss, color and hydration of a lipstick, and the long-wear of a stain, though they say “applied in a single layer for a subtle touch of color … or in a layered application for a bold, statement lip.”

It has a floral scent, which is noticeable in the tube and for an hour or so of wear (particularly strong when it is drying down). There is a slight taste to me, as well. Initially, the formula is thin and more water-like, but after you’ve applied it, the consistency thickens, levels out, and “adheres” to your lips in a very comfortable wear. The consistency is mostly non-sticky and gradually gets a lightly tacky about half-way through wear.

Nude Night (202)

Giorgio Armani Nude Night (202) Ecstasy Lacquer ($38.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a medium copper with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic shimmer throughout. It had medium to semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, so it wasn’t as pigmented as marketed, but the color went on fairly evenly.

The texture felt lightweight, thin, and more watery as it was spread across my lips initially but became thicker and more like a gel-cream with moderate tackiness. It stayed on well for five and a half hours and felt moisturizing over time.
