#400 Four Hundred had semi-opaque color payoff, which is a little more than a “subtle touch of color” for one layer, but it definitely gets close to opaque with two layers. It has that thinner, watery consistency when initially applied, but it dries down and feels more like a hugging gel. The texture is lightweight with a light tackiness that develops over time. It’s comfortable to wear without being drying, and it wears for six hours easily.
FORMULA SUMMARY | The Ecstasy Lacquer formula is supposed to have the shine of a gloss, color and hydration of a lipstick, and the long-wear of a stain, though they say “applied in a single layer for a subtle touch of color … or in a layered application for a bold, statement lip.” It has a floral scent, which is noticeable in the tube and for an hour or so of wear (particularly strong when it is drying down). There is a slight taste to me, as well. Initially, the formula is thin and more water-like, but after you’ve applied it, the consistency thickens, levels out, and “adheres” to your lips in a very comfortable wear. The consistency is mostly non-sticky and gradually gets a lightly tacky about half-way through wear.
P.S. — Anyone else feel like someone forgot to name it?

It is a beautiful carmine red. Yeah, I get that feeling with the name too, it’s so unoriginal and like something’s missing!
It seriously feels like they forgot, lol!
Could the name be in reference to the, ‘Four Hundred’ also ‘400’ of New York City’s elite? A little history lesson to be learned of the rich and powerful of NYC. Read/Google about Caroline Astor, her list of 400 in the 1870’s. Just a thought.
Oooh,I like this color on you! I just got Night Berry. Love the formula! Looks like a nice Christmas shade.
Yay!! So glad you like the formula, too, Nicole!
Wow, this looks stunning on you ! Love the pigment and finish – this formula looks like a winner
I love glossy, pigmented colors!
I really want to try these but also really can’t decide on a color! Christine, did you get the whole color range? Anything more neutral? With NO shimmer!
No, sorry I did not.
Pretty, I want one of these. I think I like the finish of Night Berry better. So what is the difference between these and the YSL glossy stains? Are the YSLs more sheer?
I think they’re very comparable in formula 🙂 Opacity is probably more by shade than by the formula, I think!
Wow, that is so pretty! I love the glossy finish–it really makes your lips look plump! Christine does this product feel sticky (like if you press your lips together)?
There is some tackiness!
You always look great in reds, but this one has a that smidgen more magic.. it’s really fantabulous!
Looks stunning on you, as was to be expected of course! 🙂
Boy, is that pigmented. It looks like a lipstick in the photos. Gorgeous! Definitely not subtle, though.
This is a really interesting looking formula! I’ve always wondered if someone was going to come out with a sheer but long-wearing product. Might pick this up during the sale!
It’s very refreshing to see a nice, juicy pigmented color amongst all the dryness of the liquid lipsticks nowadays lol
Isn’t 400 the code for all their products in the shade “The Red”? Maybe that’s why?
Yep, that’s it. The Armani Red (clothes, bags, shoes) is the #400 in every lipstick line Armani has.
I’m loving it! I love those Rouge Parade like shades. How similar would you say this is to Revlon HD Carnelian?
So Beautiful – I sure wish I could wear red!
I just ordered 500 Vintage from GA site but I am on a wait list.
My weakness is red!!! LoL! This is really gorgeous, and I love how the formula sounds: COMFY! But I still have a ton of Nyx Apple Crisp left, so this will need to wait.
That is such a gorgeous Red!!
