Giorgio Armani #400 Flash Lip Lacquer ($29.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a is a bold, bright red with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy shine. (I expect this to look cooler-toned on cooler complexions, as it comes off more neutral against my warmer tones.) NARS Norma is slightly cooler-toned. MAC Driven By Love is darker, more shimmery. MAC Send Me Sailing is less pigmented. MAC Russian Red is similar. Dior Ceremony Red is more shimmery, cooler-toned. Chanel Fatale is less pigmented. See comparison swatches.

This shade had mostly opaque color coverage, but there was some translucency that allowed the natural lip color to come through but very subtly. It has a high-shine, glossy finish that wears and lasts well, plus the color wears even beyond that. When I tested it, the glossiness lasted four and a half hours, and then it was a duller shine (but not totally matte) that continued on for another two hours (six hours total of good wear). The consistency is medium-weight, has a gel-like feel so it molds and clings to lips but not in a bad way, and has a light tackiness. It’s very comfortable to wear and nicely hydrating.  At a very, very close range, there is some minor settling of the color into lip lines, but it isn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance.

Thanks for the heads up, Natalia! It’s an automated process (which I can insert a manual link), and sometimes with brands with just #s (not names), it can get tripped up!

Looks amazing. I actually think that the gloss used with the Summer palette creates a really nice summer take on a neutral eye/ red lip that’s not quite as dramatic as what you’d see around the holidays. The only one of the flash lacquers I’ve tried thus far has been sparkly, but this makes me want to try one of the cream finish ones.

Starting to get a little tired of my MAC Russian red now.. Is there any red lipstick that is a liiiiittle less dark than Russian red, less drying over time such an amplified creme? Also, it has to last just as long!

this whole look is totally stunning on you. your face looks so warm and bright and perfect for summer!

very pretty shade <3 i wouldn't wear(hehe, can't avoid it either :P) it as i have less than a perfect lip texture(you have no flakes <3) and the setting would look bad. Also, I noticed that a lot of red glosses don't have this problem(compared to milky or dark colors) so i guess i'm pickier about how the red ones look on ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Christine,

I have the same color in the Lip Maestro ( I love it, by the way, thank you for the review). How does this formula compare in terms of texture and longevity to the Lips Maestros?

I just love the color so much, I would like to try it in a glossier version.

Marina

Christine this red is spectacular on you it gives your face such a great glow and warmth ๐Ÿ™‚ , I personally wouldnยดt wear this because if the shade is as bold as a red I prefer a matte finish but this is really pretty.

Oops, would buy this if I liked glosses. Shame that i’ve yet to find a good non-sticky and heavy formula.
