Zoya Darcy and Rocky Nail Lacquers Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Zoya Darcy Nail Lacquer
Zoya Darcy Nail Lacquer

Zoya Darcy Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “full-coverage, sunny yellow cream.” It’s a bright, sunshine yellow with a cream finish. It was one of the better-applying yellow polishes I’ve come across, though it wasn’t flawless. There was some minimal streaking still apparent after two coats of polish, but it was hard to see at a distance. It was opaque in two coats. Cult Nails You’re My Dandy Lion is slightly lighter. NARS Amchoor is similar. Chanel Mimosa is lighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Yellow Fever is similar. See comparison swatches.

Rocky Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “full-coverage, serene blue cream.” It’s a cool-toned, muted, light-medium blue with a cream finish. It’s a muted take on sky blue. It was fully opaque in two coats. The consistency was slightly thick but not so thick that it pooled along the edges. I had some minor streaking with this shade as well, unfortunately. OCC Pool Boy is cooler. NARS Koliary is darker. Illamasqua Noble is darker, brighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Faraway is darker, brighter, more shimmery. Deborah Lippmann On the Beach is darker, brighter. See comparison swatches.

Everyone always complains about yellow polishes being streaky and sheer but the only one I’ve tried is great! I can almost get away with one coat. It is the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lightning. The brush is kind of annoying since it is really wide but the color is perfect!

Have you tried any from that line?

Oh my, I love that yellow! I have a few yellow nail polishes, though, and they all make me look absolutely disgusting. Almost sickly, really. But this one seems a lot brighter than the ones I already have, so maybe it could work on me (wishful thinking).

I keep going back and forth on whether I like Darcy. I like the color yellow, but I’ve tried two yellow polishes so far and neither are very flattering on my skin tone. This one seems brighter than the ones I’ve tried though. If Zoya ever has another sale I’d consider picking Darcy up.

I have a few yellows, but this one is so much better than all the rest. It’s sunny without being harsh and had a much more even coverage. It glows, but gently, not like a highlighter pen. Very flattering to wear, unlike so many yellows. I don’t have the blue, but the colour looks different, softer, from most of the light blues I’ve seen.
