Fenty Beauty Snow Nights Frosted Metal Lipstick Set Review & Swatches
Snow Nights
Fenty Beauty Snow Nights Frosted Metal Lipstick Set ($36.00 for 0.20 oz.) features three, limited edition frosted lipsticks. I struggled with Frost $auce, which was sheerer and harder to apply evenly, whereas the other two shades were much more pigmented and had better applciations.
Each shade contains 0.065 oz., which is just a smidgen bigger than a full-sized Mattemoiselle Lipstick that contains 0.06 oz. and retails for $18.00. This formula hasn’t been released previously, but using the price point on the Mattemoiselle (which has similar packaging, sizing, and so on), this set contains $58.50 worth of lipstick for $36.

No Chill
No Chill is a deep navy blue with strong, cool undertones that gave it a purplish cast at times. It had a metallic sheen with finer pearl/shimmer, so the consistency remained smooth and creamy without any noticeable grit/texture from the shimmer. The lipstick applied evenly across my lips and never dragged during application with nearly opaque pigmentation. There was a touch of product that pulled into my deeper lip lines, but I didn’t notice it from a normal viewing distance. This shade stayed on nicely for four and a half hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to be "creamy" with "hyper-vivid impact." Most of the shades I've tried are pigmented and apply evenly. The formula has a smooth, creamy consistency with moderate slip that glides on easily but doesn't feather or bleed on me. The wear ranges from three to six hours, and they have felt moisturizing overall. Some shades have more noticeable/larger sparkles in them, and I can sometimes feel them during application as well as during wear, but how much depends on the particular shade. I didn't notice any scent or taste.

Frost $auce
Frost $auce is a muted, medium rosy copper with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. The color payoff was so-so–semi-sheer to medium but not buildable beyond that. The texture had a lot of slip and felt “wet” as it applied on my lips. It did not apply as evenly as I expected, and the sparkles/shimmers could have spread more evenly as well. I could feel the sparkles/shimmers as I was applying it as well as throughout the wear, which I know is a deal-breaker for some. It wore well for three hours and was moisturizing over time.

Fog Snog
Fog Snog is a medium-dark, purplish-taupe with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation with a smooth, creamy consistency that had moderate slip. I found this shade seemed a bit too creamy/slippery, as it didn’t adhere as well to the inner area of my lips, which made it more noticeable where the lipstick ended and my lips began (more so than most lipsticks). The color applied fairly evenly, though, and settled just a touch in my lip lines but I couldn’t see it from a normal viewing distance. This shade lasted well for four hours and was hydrating over time.

Shoot. This was the set I was really interested in, too.
It’s occurred to me as the reviews have progressed over the past few days, that I REALLY wish that these lipsticks weren’t sold in sets. Because, even though I know that Fog Snog probably wouldn’t look so great on me, I would have appreciated being able to buy it and it alone! Same with So Chili from the other set.
Frost Sauce would have been my favourite.
Me too. Sad.
My brain keeps trying to turn “Fog snog” into “Frog snog”. I guess that’s what you do when you’re trying to find a prince.
The design on the box is so pretty
The actual lipsticks themselves, no so much…
I experienced the same problem with Fog Snog not adhering to my inner lip area, which is a problem because I have a really pouty lower lip. I love the color though, so I think I am going to try layering it over a nude that does apply well to my inner lip.
Hope that works, AJ! It is a really cool shade… definitely worth trying to make it work if you already have it and enjoy the color since it is harder to dupe.
I really like Fog Snog, and I’d be willing to get the Lipstories Just Add Tinsel to suffice for Fog Snog, but I don’t see any real dupes for No Chill, and I . LOVE . IT !!! Good grief that’s stunning! Now I have to decide if it’s worth getting the set for just two of the colors (don’t like Frost $auce at all).
Do you think you could get Frost $auce to work layered? I feel you on Fog Snog and No Chill, though. They’re stunning!
That’s a thought; I’m not a fan of layering lipstick, but I have three or four Frankenstein lip colors that I blended from singles I wasn’t happy with. It’s not a bad base color; I can definitely see mixing it with a matte to firm up the formula.
Alecto, I tried on a lipstick this weekend from the MAC girls collection which looks similar and has that same vibe as No Chill. It is decribed on the website as a sheer purple w/blue pearl. The shade is called “Raver Girl”. It may not be exactly what you are looking for but it is gorgeous and applies beautifully!
