Baewatch

Fenty Beauty Baewatch Vivid Liquid Eyeliner Trio ($35.00 for 0.39 oz.) is a new, limited edition set that features a lime green, bright cyan blue, and deep pink. The formula was poor for Hollapeno and Hot Tub Club, though Techno Beet was a bright spot (and the best out of all of the liquid eyeliners the brand released this season).

Hollapeno

Hollapeno is bright, lime green with warm, yellow undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but it applied unevenly. The liquid eyeliner had a watery, thinner consistency that made it harder to control, and it took a bit longer to dry down and would seep into my fine lines. Once dry, it appeared cracked, though it didn’t fade or flake on me over a 10-hour period.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to have "super-smooth precision and glide" with a "hyper-vivid pop of color" in "one stroke." The pigmentation ranged from shade to shade, but most shades were semi-opaque to opaque in one stroke with deeper, less pastel-neon shades having better coverage. The formula was very fluid (almost too fluid, as some shades seeped into fine lines as it was drying down) paired with a very thin brush-type applicator that had some flex but didn't seem floppy.

Some of the lighter, more pastel-neon shades appeared streaky or "cracked" as they dried down. They can take a bit longer to dry down, which might have been why some of them settled and spread into my fine lines. Once they set, they didn't budge or move around. They do not claim to be waterproof, and they are not waterproof, but some of the deeper shades--like the blues, greens, and plum stain.

I tried using the included applicator as well as separate, eyeliner brushes (brush-type and angled) to see if applicator improved, but it was about the same; using the included applicator often ensured better pigmentation but just as easily could over-apply product. I also tried some shades as eyeshadow bases/cream eyeshadows (particularly when they didn't seem to work that well as a one-stroke eyeliner), but they often proved problematic with sheerer, uneven applicator or were just hard to diffuse along the edges. They didn't take eyeshadow layered on top of that particularly well either, so I don't find they were particularly usable as bases either.

Hot Tub Club

Hot Tub Club is a brighter, cyan blue with subtle, cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. The consistency was thin, more watery, and fluid but difficult to control as the product had a tendency to push outward from the brush applicator and left behind an uneven, patchy middle that had less opacity. It had good pigmentation, but it just dried down to a cracked finish that did flake a bit after eight hours of wear.

Techno Beet

Techno Beet is a deep pink with subtle, cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. It was richly pigmented in a single stroke, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my skin. The consistency was thin, fluid, but it seemed less watery and was faster to dry down. This was one of the easiest shades to work with across all three trios. It stayed on well for 10 hours without fading or flaking on me.

Hmm..one A, one D, and one F. But the A is the one I really want, so maybe I will get it and consider the rest bonus “throwaways”. 😁

Wow, these guys were really all over the place! This was the pack I wanted the most, and I don’t think it’s worth it since the red is the shade I’ll use the least. I like what I’ve picked up from fenty, but they seem to have some trouble with consistency in the seasonal releases.

What a fail. Both shades that I might have bought this trio for are the ones that look like crackly messes! The pinky-red would just make me look like I was suffering from an eye infection or was possessed.

Hmm, it must have something to do with the coloring that they are adding to them that is changing the consistency of them, for one to be an A and another to be an F. I don’t have the time or patience to try and make something work no matter how much I like the color, so it’s a pass for me.

Aww man too bad I brought this already, but haven’t used it yet. I’m not a big fan of colored liquid eye liners especially those thin brush types. We’ll see how they perform for me. But I’m disappointed .

I WANT SINGLES, dammmitttt. I would grab the periwinkle from the first and the pink here, but there is no way I will shell out for two trios.
