Too Faced La Creme Lip Balm Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)
Too Faced La Creme Lip Balm
Earlier, I posted my first review of Too Faced La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.), which you can find here. According to the brand, it’s supposed to be a hydrating formula that gives lips a better appearance. There are six shades in all, with one being colorless, and the others are supposed to have “juicy tints of color.” The formula is somewhat hydrating–less than a really good lip balm, and it is also less than their regular La Creme lipstick formula, for me–and very short-wearing (only one shade lasts two hours; all the others last less). It has a lightweight feel on the lips, but it is thinner than the La Creme lipsticks. The “tinted” shades seem to emphasize lip imperfections; the formula seems to catch every little imperfection (ones I didn’t know I had!).
Too Faced Pink Slip La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is a very sheer, coral-tinted shade. At most, it maybe adds a slight warmth to lips, but it feels like I’m partially imagining it! It wears an hour and a half on me. Bite Beauty Flush (P, $24.00) is warmer. Korres Quince (P, $12.99) is pinker, darker. bareMinerals Amped Pink (P, $15.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Too Faced Just Kissed La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is a very sheer, peachy-coral tint. It’s really a smidgen warmer than Pink Slip, but the two look nearly identical, despite looking drastically different in the tubes. It stayed on for about an hour and a half. Bite Beauty Flush (P, $24.00) is similar. Korres Quince (P, $12.99) is darker, more pigmented. bareMinerals Amped Pink (P, $15.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Too Faced Plum Crazy La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is a very sheer, warm-toned plum with a natural sheen. This shade slightly darkened the lips; of all the shades, this had the most visible tint, but it was still very sheer at best. It lasted for two hours on me. Bite Beauty Dolce (P, $24.00) is cooler-toned. Korres Quince (P, $12.99) is brighter, warmer. bareMinerals Amped Pink (P, $15.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Even if these had a good grade, I would be passing. I just can’t handle this much for a lip balm lol
Definitely on the high end!
Again more of the same 🙁 It’s such a shame to launch so many colors and then have them all look super sheer and pretty much the same.
Totally agree 🙁
Sorry to say this but these look the same in the swatches and on the lips. Revlon Lip Butters are more pigmented than these and less than half the price. Thank You for the review.
No problem!
Completely agree! The revlon lip butters do exactly what they say!
With the extreme extreme lack of pigmentation are there (non makeup blogging/reviewing) people buying more than one of these??????
I know some like pulling out something more colorful but still want very sheer color!
So disappointing! Looking at a shade like Plum Crazy, you’d never think it would severely lack pigmentation. I guess I’ll be passing up these lip balms.
It was a bummer!
your eyeshadow looks so great! i really love it when i see the picture, then i remember the promo picture chanel put out and get disappointed all over again. why chanel chose to do such a bold look for the promo is beyond me. it seems it would turn off typical chanel customers, so clearly the point was to get the more urban decay-ish crowd. they had to realize those customers would be let down by the quality and pigmentation. if they promo had been a look like yours, i think they would be selling a lot more of the shadows.
Thank you!
You raise a good point that the promo could be an attempt to grab an audience that may overlook the brand at times!
eeeshhh a total pass for me.
I hear ya!
Wish these were more true to tube.
Me too!!
Wow, and I thought the differences between UD’s Ultra Nourishing Lipglosses were too subtle! I can’t tell them apart at all. I have a 3 dollar balm from Amazon that is my holy grail balm, so not too interested in something so sheer for multiple times the dough.
LOL! More differences between the glosses I’d say (though some less so!).
I wonder why Too Faced just said hell with it and released these. I’m sure they could have easily improved them. What a disappointment! 🙁
They should have at least been able to make it true to “tint!”
I think if one were going to get one of these, it’d have to be either the colourless one, or Plum Crazy. I still think it’s way too much for a lip balm (and not necessarily a fantastic one at that), but you might as well either go with ‘plain’ or ‘the most tinted one’. 😀
It’d have to be a great balm for me to pay this price, IMO!
I’ve seen maybelline baby lips (which i love) with more pigmentation..gonna sit out on this one too faced….
Will have to look for those!
I don’t get why companies either bother with tinted balms unless they’re semi-opaque. These all look the same to me. It’s just silly lol
I wish they at least had a difference on!
I was hoping for a firmer version of the Sugar lip balms! 🙁
They definitely seem similar in texture to me, but I would say Sugar has more slip and gets melt-y a little faster.
Too sheer!
Indeed!
And I thought the new Benefit Tinted Lip Balms were overpriced! LOL! At least they have better color payoff… these ones are definitely a pass for me. Thanks for your honest review, Christine! <3
Always my pleasure, Jaa!
Not impressed with these at all. When I think of the hydration and color payoff I get with my Revlon lip butters at one-third the cost…
I wish these had a stronger tint!
Aww, what a bummer! I was really hoping for more pigment in these — there’s sheer and then there’s TOO SHEER, you know? 🙁
Yup! Not really a tint here!
There has been a couple of brands releasing lip products like these only to have really poor pigmentation, even for a sheer lippy. Strange really, why would they bother?
It’s weird to release six 🙁
I always hear so many awesome things about these but have yet to try them. They’re on my wish list for sure!
Let me know if you try ’em!
