Dose of Colors x iluvsarahii Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
iluvsarahii
Dose of Colors iluvsarahii 6-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($35.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that includes six eyeshadows–three shimmers and three mattes (well, one is mostly matte!). It gave me beachy, summer vibes, and the six shades worked well together, and I could see at least a handful of other ideas from the shades. The shimmers and mattes blended well over and with each other, which isn’t always the case with more frosted, metallic shimmers like the ones in this palette.

Poquito Mas
Poquito Mas is a bright beige with warmer undertones and cooler, pink shimmer paired with a metallic finish. The color coverage was nearly opaque, but the texture was more crumbly in the pan, which made it more prone to fallout if I did not apply it using fingertips or a dampened brush. I was able to press and smooth it out using a stiffer, flat brush without too much fallout after a few trial runs. It lasted well for eight hours on me from there.

Sunglow
Sunglow is a medium bronze with warm, copper undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was fantastic, while the texture was smooth, creamy, and dense without being stiff or thick. It was a beauty to work with–the best shade in the palette by far–and I wish the other shimmers were as good! The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin, blended easily, and wore well for eight and a half hours before faintly creasing.

Wanderlust
Wanderlust is a deep, reddish-copper with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was smooth, finely-milled, and not dusty or powdery, but the powder was substantial enough to apply evenly and blend out with ease on bare skin. I noticed slight fading after eight hours of wear.

Loungy
Loungy is a medium coral-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was slightly powdery in the pan, but it blended out so easily on my skin and had minimal fallout during application. It was richly pigmented and lasted nicely for eight and a half hours on my lid.

Palma
Palma is a deep, green-leaning teal with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had good color coverage that was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer, though it was best applied with fingertips or a dampened brush and pressed/patted on. There was slight fallout when I was blending out the color more vigorously. It wore well for eight hours with a bit more fallout over time.

Finders Keepers
Finders Keepers is a deep black with neutral-to-cool undertones and multi-colored sparkle over a more matte finish. There were a few visible sparkles that translated onto my lid during application, but it performed and looked like a matte black eyeshadow. If one wanted more sparkles, I would recommend using an adhesive or tacky base underneath it. The texture was thinner but not pwodery or prone to lots of fallout, which made it easier to work with whether I wanted intense coverage or to build up coverage in layers. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Unpopular Opinion: I am annoyed by black eyeshadows in palettes because I never use them and it just wastes space where there could be a better shade for me. In this case, I would have liked a neutral matte transition shade. 😉
See, the way I look at is that a black eyeshadow is more likely to be useful to more people across skintones/undertones. Things like brow bone highlighters or transition shades… I feel like that can be very skin tone dependent and may not have any utility for some skin tones. That being said, I don’t personally need a black eyeshadow in every palette since I consider it a “basic” that can be found in my stash.
well said Christine.. I have dark skin… and without the black, it’s pointless for me to buy this palette.. I might as well buy singles eyeshadows… I’m happy to see the black shadow …it surely completes the palette for me..
I totally agree with your unpopular opinion Seraphine. In a small palette such as this one, a black is totally unnecessary. A gorgeous taupe, or steel gray would have been better I think.
A dark matte taupe would have been gorgeous in this palette.
I’m another one who is always annoyed about yet ANOTHER black eyeshadow in a palette. I have SO many of them; I rarely use them but on those occasions when I do, I’ve got more than enough and certainly way more than I’ll ever need.
Yes!! I totally agree with you! I barely reach for a black eyeshadow and the fact that there’re only 6 shadows in the palette makes me feel like I’m not gonna get my money worth with using it…
Your eye look is beautiful! I’ll have to try and recreate it with dupes…I think I’m pretty well set on these types of shades.
Even though it’s a nice black, I’m not too keen on having it in such a small palette. I don’t think it really goes with the beachy vibe, either.
I really wanted to get this, but every look I have seen done with this palette us the same, and when I look at it, I can only see one look.
It’s a beautiful look! But to pay conversion, shipping, and then to get charged an extra $20 at the door in customs makes this really not worth it for me imo
Truly gorgeous shades, although personally I wouldn’t use half of them. But I think it is lovely and your eye look is fabulous. My favourite shades are Sunglow and Palma.
What a great rating!! Yay!! I agree about the black but I still love this palette!
As much as I love my UD Beached Palette, I much prefer the greener teal included here! This would reflect my eye color a bit better. Will I buy it, though? I just don’t know yet.
I really love the look you created with this, Christine! The colours are so rich and intense. I’ll have to try doing something similar next time I feel creative.
I just saw this palette for the first time in Ulta the other day and I have to say I was much more impressed with it in person! I actually really liked the color choices, especially for it being a small palette. And as far as the black shade, I agree that it is usually overdone but this one is so sparkly that I would want to use it. Even your pictures Christine aren’t doing it full justice. I hope I can pick this one up.?
Christine do you think the formula on shade ‘Palma” is similar to Dose’s block party eyeshadows?
No, I don’t think so.
I love the shades in here!
This looks like a 6-pan version of the Dream St. palette for triple the price. This is just being picky over names, but I cannot ever see “iluvsarahii” on a product and think it’s serious.
I’d say maybe think about the fact that it is someone’s brand, and “sarahi” is her middle name 🙂
