Dior Golden Snow Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Golden Snow (549)
Dior Golden Snow (549) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that included five shimmery shades: peach, off-white, yellow gold, olive green, and cool taupe. The five shades coordinated well together, and most of the shades had opaque color coverage and all shades had decent wear. The second shade was sheerer, while the fourth shade was drier and harder to diffuse for a really blown out effect.

Golden Snow #1
Golden Snow #1 is a medium, orange-leaning peach with strong, warm undertones and a smooth, pearly sheen. It had opaque color coverage applied dry as well as wet, while the texture was smooth, dense, and lightly creamy but not overly thick or too firmly pressed into the pan. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Golden Snow #1
LELimited Edition.
Golden Snow #2
Golden Snow #2 is a light, off-white with faint silver and pink pearl throughout. It had more semi-sheer coverage that could be built up to medium when applied with a dry brush or more semi-opaque when applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip. The texture was soft, slightly dusty in the pan, but blendable and had minimal fallout applied (even dry). It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Golden Snow #2
LELimited Edition.
Golden Snow #3
Golden Snow #3 is a light-medium, true yellow gold with moderate, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that diffused well along the edges.
The texture was dense but not overly firm, so it had enough slip and glide to sit well on my lid but still pick up well with a dry brush. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Golden Snow #3
LELimited Edition.
Golden Snow #4
Golden Snow #4 is a darker, olive green with warm undertones and a fine, gold and emerald green pearl throughout that gave it a pearl finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin, but the texture was on the drier side, so it was hard to get a really diffused, blown-out edge.
If you were someone who planned to use it mostly on the lid, I don’t think it would be problematic, but trying to use it in the crease or as a blending shade was where the lack of blendability was more noticeable. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Dior’s new palettes look so tempting 👀
They are a nice improvement from past years!
I agree. I might buy one soon 👀
Even though I do love this particular color combo and the quality is good, I think I’m going to take a pass. There are two other palettes that have my heart far more!
Inquiring minds want to know, Nancy – which 2 other palettes are you craving?
Well, Mariella, my WL is currently stacked to the gills with palettes, if truth be known! Top two picks are CT Bejeweled palette and PML Interstellar Icon. I really did want TF First Frost, but I may actually be able to dupe the color vibe with Bejeweled, I think. Plus, Bejeweled has my 3 matte shades right there at hand. Idk how brilliant my choice is, but that’s what I’m going with. I was dying to get Melt She’s In Parties Palette, but I can dupe that tonal setup with what I’ve got. Or so I believe.
Please don’t mind my ramblings, I’m so sleep deprived these past few weeks, and on a new med for severe OCD and Autism spectrum issues. I feel very out of it, yet keyed up! 🤷🏻♀️
Ramble away, Nancy….don’t forget, you are rambling to the converted! I for one love to hear your rambles and those of others because they feed nicely into my own obsessions…
‘Rambling to the converted’: I’m going to use that one!
Oh my gosh. Why is this happening to me? So many wanted palettes and so little money! This might have to be my Dior palette for this season. I love this so much. I keep juggling the palettes I want in order of preference and then moving them again and again. I really need to nail it down. This not living near an actual store is really hard this year!!
You too, Deborah? I’m in a palette roulette quagmire myself these days also. It’s driving me BATS!
Me three (or, considering it’s Dior, should I say “Moi, trois”?)
I really like this quint, with such a variety of distinct shades. The addition of the olive shade makes this palette shine. It’s hard to choose from all their new ones that are so good. But I think this is my favourite.
A gorgeous eye look Christine.
Great to see Dior back in the shadow game! Wow’d by the packaging, embossing, colors, and the quality!
I so don’t need this; I so can’t justify this but still, I really like and kind of want this! What Deborah S said is exactly how I feel (though I do have a store near me, unlike my issue with Chanel….).
Okay, I’m sorry to be asking yet again but I can’t seem to find where/how to get to the eye look you’ve done, Christine. I know I asked this a few days ago and you directed me to the link in the post but I’ve looked and looked (and even searched in “Looks”) and can’t seem to find it….
Sorry, I didn’t post this in looks!
I’m really digging this!!!
This name is super unfortunate 👀
I told Jussi (male dachshund) not to do that, but he seldom listens, lol. I thought I was the only one who zoomed to that connotation.
Yes! I thought I just had a juvenile mind. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought the same thing. 😂
I commented when Christine first showed this palette – “Don’t eat yellow snow” is something every Canadian child used to hear growing up (not so much now, I think, since pollution generally has made eating snow a no-no)
What I find distressing about this palette is that it’s $3 more than the regular ones (not a deal breaker when you’re up in the Dior price-tag stratosphere) but weight wise, there’s only slightly more than half the amount of product. The design pressed into the surface looks lovely but I’d sooner have more product for the price when it comes right down to it (though the snowflakes really do look lovely; it’d be nice to have both the pretty design and the higher amount of product).
Omg Dior is KILLING IT with these color stories and pan designs. I never looked at their cosmetics twice before, but this year??
