ColourPop x Safiya Nygaard Screamer & Brucie Lux Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Screamer
ColourPop Screamer Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep burgundy with cooler undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in one pass, which was buildable for the most part, though I had trouble getting full coverage on the inner area of my lips (just didn’t seem to want to adhere, which can occur on occasion for me).
The texture was firmer, stiffer in the tube, but it didn’t drag painfully; I preferred applying it in shorter strokes, though, as it was more comfortable and delivered better coverage and application. The color wore well for over six hours, left a reddish stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.
The collection will be restocked December 6th.

Formula Overview

The Matte Lux formula is supposed to have a "velvet matte" finish that's "long-wearing" with "intense pigmentation and a soft blurring finish." Most of the shades are quite pigmented with four to six hour wear and a non-drying feel. The texture varied a bit as some shades were smooth, velvety, and thin without emphasizing my lip lines or pulling into them but several separated along my lip lines noticeably or color settled into my lip lines over time. I didn't get much scent from them--possibly subtle sweetness--and no discernible taste.

Brucie
ColourPop Brucie Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, muted bluish-teal with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly across my lips, but there was light patchiness in places (especially my cupid’s bow area and the left and right areas of my lower lip). The deeper color made it harder to tell in person, especially as the color seemed to stain my lips a grayish-purple hue, which helped to camouflage the imperfect application.
The consistencyw as creamy, smooth, and lightweight without being too slippery that it feathered or slid around during wear, though I felt like it was a bit overly emollient and that was what led to the patchier application. I’d recommend pairing this with a lip liner or lip primer to mitigate the patchiness, as it was slight and fixable. It stayed on well for five hours, left a stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing over time.
The collection will be restocked December 6th.

I bought the whole set and found it a bit strange that brucie is marked as matte whereas I found it somewhat slippier than the creme shades. I kind of wish brucie had the same texture as screamer. It’s beautiful and unique nonetheless, definitely a Safiya color!
I love having a lipstick that matches my eye color! Not quite brave enough to wear Brucie out and about in AZ, however. But I’ll be rocking it around the property and in my apartment wearing sweats and tee’s this fall and winter!
And now I also want Screamer, too! Love me a deep dark vampy burgundy like this beauty. ?
I probably would have loved these, especially Screamer, when I was in my 20s and 30s, but as I’ve gotten older, super dark shades like this now somehow make my lips look smaller.
Like you Seraphine, I find I don’t prefer such dark lipsticks these days for the same reason as you.
Screamer looks a lot like Fenty’s Stunna lip gloss, but at a more reasonable price. It certainly is a vampy shade.
I’m wearing Brucie for the second time today and I actually find it pretty slippery, it get’s everywhere, and I normally am a person who manages to keep their lipstick in place even when I’m eating!
