ColourPop x Bambi Flower Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Flower
ColourPop Flower 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that launches on February 25th at 10AM PT. There are two matte shades, one sparkle-matte shade, and two shimmers included in the slim, cardboard palette. I think they came together on the lid, but they had a lot of fallout and was messy to use–not just on the eye but even the palette looked like a powder bomb or three went off. They were some of the more powdery eyeshadows I’ve worked with, especially from ColourPop!

So Shy
So Shy is a very light, silvery-white base with a lavender sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well, though there was a little fallout during application. The texture was more loosely-pressed, a smidgen dry, and seemed extra-fragile. This shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Pretty Flower
Pretty Flower is a medium lavender with warmer, pink undertones and a matte finish. The texture was quite powdery to the point where there was enough excess in the pan that I had to tap it over a trash can so I could use other shades. It had semi-opaque color coverage that could be built up but applied better over a primer as it needed some help with adhesion. It lasted decently for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Oh Gosh
Oh Gosh is a darker lavender with warm, pinkish undertones and flecks of gold and lavender sparkle throughout. It had a very shiny, sparkling finish with a little bit of fallout during application and throughout wear due to the higher amount of sparkle in it. The consistency was more loosely-pressed but seemed to have a good amount of binder in it as the product adhered evenly and had a lot less fallout than anticipated, which helped it have opaque coverage on my skin. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Little Stinker
Little Stinker is a brighter, light purple with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but the consistency was fairly powdery, so it sheered out a bit on the skin. It blended out well along the edges, though. This shade stayed on well for eight hours and left a stain behind.

Hibernating
Hibernating is a deeper black with strong, cool undertones with flecks of various purple-hued sparkles that were strewn throughout more of a matte finish. The texture was velvety and finely-milled but incredibly powdery; it was one of the more powdery eyeshadows I’ve used! With a small, crease brush, there was so much excess that had dispersed and an entire small clump of powder managed to lift and settle outside of the pan.
As one might expect, this led to quite a bit of fallout during application that required actual clean-up, not just brushing it away. It had opaque coverage that sheered out some but was impressive in how much pigmentation actually translated onto the eye. It blended out fairly well, but it was harder to control the lay down and preciseness of placement due to the more powdery texture. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

This put me in mind of my Natasha Denona 5 pan #10. I like some of the shadows here, especially Oh Gosh, but I cannot bring myself to buy a palette for one shadow. I might have been more tempted if there was not a black shadow included.
Because Le Skunk! I just have to get this one even though it’s a powder bomb! Also, my beloved Scunci was sort of named after a skunk, long silly story.
I really want their powder eyeshadows to become consistently excellent again. 🙁 So many of their new shadow releases have been so lacklustre!
Powdery eyeshadows that create a mess on your face, hands, the palette etc is not a fun way to start the day. Colour Pop is doing our head in with all of these substandard releases, but then you get a bit of gold like the Wild Child palette.
I hope they will fix this powdery, mess, fallout prone eyeshadow formula they’ve been using lately. I have no patience at all for that.
I wonder if these palettes and the new 5 pan square shaped palettes are removable by magnet like their round eyeshadows.
I’m really torn: I think the purples are pretty, but I don’t want to use ones that are going to make a smudgy mess on my face. Plus the staining makes me a little nervous.
What a pity that it is so powdery and has a lot of fall out. I really wanted this one, but I will not buy it after reading the review.
Oh, well, some money saved toward a bigger purchase in the future.
