ColourPop Songbird & Cherry Bomb Lippie Stix Reviews & Swatches
Songbird
ColourPop Songbird Lippie Stix ($6.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a bright, medium plum with cool undertones and a satin finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, creamy consistency that wasn’t too thick nor too thin, which gave it a comfortable feel on my lips but ensured the color stayed on well. The finish was also more flattering and kinder to my lip lines. On me, this shade lasted well for five and a half hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.0352 oz. - $198.86 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "full coverage" with a "long-wearing, ultra comfortable" feel. Because there are quite a few finishes in the range, some of the results depend more on the finish.
The matte finish tends to be thinner, drier, and firmer in the tube, and they can, occasionally, tug on my lips noticeably during application, but usually have good pigmentation and long wear; they range from non-drying to somewhat drying.
The Creme finish has a creamier, more emollient quality to it that has excellent pigmentation, comfortable wear, and good wear time (four to six hours); it tends to be a little hydrating but occasionally suffers from issues where product gathers in lip lines or they don't go on as evenly as they could. There's a soft, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Cherry Bomb
ColourPop Cherry Bomb Lippie Stix ($6.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a bright, medium fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture was slightly firmer and thinner, which required firmer pressure to apply it in a single stroke–not painful but not as comfortable as most shades I’ve tried within the range. It had good pigmentation that went on fairly evenly, but there was very faint streaking along the edges of my lips and some product slipped into my lip lines. The brighter color helped to camouflage these minor flaws. It wore well for six hours, left a pink stain behind, and was non-drying over time.

Cherry Bomb is a must because of sentimental reasons. Plus, it looks like a fuchsia I may be able to pull off without looking green! My new foundation shade will also help there, too, because it has a peachy overtone that just fits and doesn’t give my face that strangely dull tone.
Thank you, MAC, for making NC41 and many other new shades for those who are not firmly NC or NW!
I know Cherry Bomb is almost a given for the same sentimental reason’s you are thinking of, I am sure. I think I could wear it in terms of shade and I don’t have any dupes so maybe something to think about in the future.
Songbird is beautiful and very tempting, and I’d like it even more if this was the one called (ch-ch-ch) Cherry Bomb!
But in light of all the Jaclyn Hill commotion that’s been going on, I’ve become hyper-aware (for better or worse) and I’m noticing what looks like fibers in the closeup shot of this lipstick. Is this different than what they found in the JH lipsticks? I hope so. Colourpop is one of my favorite brands.
That’s kind of why I did the whole “what’s normal” in your lipsticks post – this type of lint/fiber is “normal” to me in the sense that I see it often enough by a lot of brands that suggests manufacturing isn’t perfect. I think there are three? on the one you’re referring to, which is more than “normal” but look the same in terms of what it might be (lint or synthetic fiber to my eye). The difference with Jaclyn’s lipsticks is that there seems to be a higher rate of problems (e.g. me having 2897349 lipsticks vs. the average person’s amount), not just one piece of lint/fiber, and a lot of issues going on simultaneously.
I figured as much, knowing Colourpop’s good quality. Just thought I’d ask. So now I’m back to being terribly tempted by Songbird. I have none of the dupes on the list. (2897349 made me lol!!!)
There were definitely quite a few lipsticks in the Lippie Stix I photographed from the Big Box (they arrived together) that are wonky in one way or another – definitely… imperfect. It will certainly be interesting to see if people start reporting/talking about it more on a personal level as a result of what has happened lately!
Songbird is such a me colour, so that is probably why I have 3 dupes! Still tempting though since nothing is 100%. I am such a lipstick w***e that it is hard to pass up a shade that I love but I am due for another de-clutter so only going to buy lipsticks that fit holes in my collection.
I love Cherry Bomb, and of course I heard the song in my head when I read the name. I don’t have any dupes for it, surprisingly.
Songbird is gorgeous.
When I get enough stuff from Colour Pop on my wishlist it’s going to be in my order. I was actually amazed that I didn’t have a dupe for it. I should have, but no.
Songbird is GORGEOUS! Annnnnnnnd … I have 2 NARS dupes plus Maleficent, so … I’m good.
