ColourPop Night Dream, Try Me, Neutrino, Mr. Sandman, On a Whimsy Pressed Powder Shadows Reviews & Swatches
Night Dream
ColourPop Night Dream Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep black with multi-colored micro-sparkle strewn over a matte finish. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. The texture was soft, slightly dry to the touch, but it didn’t seem to translate to application. It looked almost plum-purple in sheen in the pan, but it had a true black base. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Try Me
ColourPop Try Me Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. While it swatched with more semi-sheer to medium coverage, it was quite buildable in practice, so it ended up being workable and easy to use as I could apply, diffuse, and build up to desired intensity without having to worry about the edge as much. It could have been a little more blendable, though. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

Neutrino
ColourPop Neutrino Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a light-medium purple with strong, warm pink undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges. The downside was the consistency was denser and more firmly-pressed, so I had to use a heavier hand to pick up product evenly on my brush. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Mr. Sandman
ColourPop Mr. Sandman Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.05 oz.) has a warmer, plummy-brown base with pink-to-blue shifting shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation that adhered evenly to bare skin when patted or pressed on, but the consistency was very, very soft, which made it looser and more prone to fallout during application if I wasn’t careful to press it on, use it with a dampened brush, or use a fingertip for application. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

On a Whimsy
ColourPop On a Whimsy Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, light-medium, silver with cool undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a lightly creamy, more loosely-pressed consistency that applied evenly to bare skin but had a touch of fallout during application. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

Neutrino and On a Whimsy are going on my “to get” list.
I was lusting after Mr. Sandman but I already have Glass Bull! Thank you for saving me $!
Glass Bull is MUCH lighter than Mr. Sandman. I think Mr. Sandman is more of a duochrome, and definitely a mist have, even if you have Glass Bull.
Well…thank you for making me spend money??? ha, seriously, thanks for the info, though.
I agree – Glass Bull is lighter and greener, Mr Sandman is darker, cooler and more purple. I wore them both today and they looked fab.
Must get Night Dream and Mr. [Enter] Sandman! Also very pleasantly surprised at how nicely Try Me worked in actual usage on the lids.
I just got my create your own palette yesterday and am IN LOVE with Mr. Sandman. Granted, I’ve only swatched it on my arm… but it felt lovely and the color just makes me happy. I can’t wait to actually use it in a look this weekend. I also got Try Me which is ok. Purple is my favorite color and this is a vibrant grapey purple, but it seemed a touch streaky when I swatched it so I figured it was going to take some effort to blend. I like the shade though so I’ll make it work!
Hey Christine! I was wondering with all the new products Colourpop releases, who is it behind the brand? Without adding too much to your plate, do you think you could give us more information about the people behind our favorite brands in the upcoming year?
You can visit any brand’s website and read their FAQ/about us sections, and lots of larger press like Allure, Glamour, Vogue, etc., which all have far better access to and interviewing skills have likely covered many brands that might interest you! I don’t have that type of access, unfortunately. ColourPop posts tons of behind-the-scenes videos through their own channels, too! 🙂
Another set of beautiful, inexpensive shades. Colour Pop has done really well with On A Whimsy because that silver shade is hard to get right.
I was hoping that Try Me could be a potential dupe for my beloved MUFE #92, which has been discontinued for a few years now 🙁 I haven’t hit pan on it yet, but I’m hoping that a good dupe rolls around before I do. I guess I will have to keep rationing my use of it!
