ColourPop Mermaid Glow Mini Face Duo Review & Swatches
Mermaid Glow
ColourPop Mermaid Glow Mini Face Duo ($10.00 for 0.22 oz.) consists of a peach-orange blush and a warm, yellow gold highlighter. The two definitely complement each other, and the matte finish of the blush worked to create a more buildable shimmer level when adding the highlighter on top. I actually prefer this size for ColourPop’s cheek colors as their normal size is extremely large (relative to industry averages), too.

Golden Hour
Golden Hour is a soft, light-medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage (two to three layers), which is as the brand intended (buildable coverage). The texture was soft to the touch, finely-milled, but it was rather powdery and kicked up a lot of excess in the pan. The color went on evenly and blended out with little work. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly" and have a "natural and healthy flush" that has "long wear" and "can be layered to your desired intensity." It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one's skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.

Siren
Siren is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and moderately dense without being stiff or difficult to work with. The highlighter applied well to bare skin, blended out easily, and lasted for eight hours before fading noticeably.

The powder highlighter is supposed to have a "high-shine" finish with "high colour intensity." In general, ColourPop's pressed highlighter powders have a smooth, moderately dense texture that was soft enough to be picked up easily by a brush but not kick up any powder in the pan. The formula was semi-opaque to opaque but easily sheered out for less shine and coverage if desired. There were a few shades within the range that emphasized my skin's natural texture slightly but most did not. The wear ranged from seven and a half hours to nine hours.

I’ve been loving the Colourpop reviews!
Another really pretty pairing. I picked up the “Just Do It” duo and have been really enjoying it. I have so many blushes that I need to be a little more discriminating in my purchases so I won’t be getting this but lovely none the less.
Very beachy summer vibe going on with this duo! If I hadn’t recently ordered Clock Work duo, I may have gone for Mermaid Glow. Not sure how either one will work on me, but I’ll soon find out, eh? ?
It seems to me that “mermaid” should refer to cool tones and that Colourpop (a brand I like a lot) might be using the trendy word just to sell product. Nice shades, in any case.
This is a perfect little duo – the peachy shade is fairly matte, with the golden shimmery highlighter if you want to use it. Lovely versatile shades.
