ColourPop KaePop Super Shock Shadow Set
ColourPop KaePop Super Shock Shadow Set ($20.00 for 4 x 0.07 oz.) includes four full-sized cream eyeshadows. ColourPop split up the set again, so if you only like one or two shades, you can pick them up individually (there’s no price discount for buying all four, but it’ll come in a square, cardboard box when purchased as a set). The wear across all four shades was great–over ten hours strong–and I only had some application issues with Beverly, which was less pigmented and prone to becoming patchy if I wasn’t careful (it is easier to work with layered over one of the other shades as a result).
Sunset Blvd. is described as a “warm golden bronze.” It’s a medium, golden orange with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer-sheen finish. It had nice pigmentation with a lightly emollient (slightly wet-to-the-touch) consistency that applied fairly well to bare skin. I noticed that it didn’t quite apply as smoothly with a brush as other ColourPop shades did (for true opacity, fingertips did work best, which is what the brand recommends, but I usually can use flat, synthetic brushes with the same results as well). It wore well for ten hours on me. LORAC Undiscovered (PiP, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). LORAC Compass (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). Viseart Nuance #2 (PiP, ) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Fly Away (LE, $4.50) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Muse #2 (LE, ) is warmer (90% similar). Dior Bronze Highlighter (PiP, ) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Rocket Girl (LE, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Sateen (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Dash (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Baked Cowboy (DC, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Wilshire is described as a “mid-tone warm peachy beige.” It’s a light-medium brown with warm, peachy-orange tones and a semi-matte finish. It had great color payoff with a really smooth, blendable texture that adhered well to bare skin and had no signs of fading or creasing even after ten hours of wear. LORAC Terracotta (PiP, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Melt Cosmetics Luna (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Madrague #2 (DC, $25.00) is darker (95% similar). Crenshaw is described as a “warm saddle brown.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, caramel undertones and a matte finish. It had great pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly while still blending easily (and didn’t turn patchy!). The color didn’t fade or crease even after ten hours after wear. Dior Atlantique #5 (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). Inglot #357 (P, $6.00) is more muted (95% similar). Too Faced Chocolate Cookie (PiP, $16.00) is lighter (95% similar). Pat McGrath Throwing Shade (LE, $25.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Makeup Geek Frappe (DC, $6.00) is lighter (85% similar). Anastasia Rustic (PiP, $12.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Beverly is described as a “deepened blackberry.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish purple with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a lightly creamy, smooth consistency that was harder to blend out evenly, as it tended to look a little patchy (kind of like a dark lipgloss or overly emollient lipgloss can on the lips). It wore well, at least, and was still going strong after ten hours of wear. Makeup Geek Bitten (DC, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Seeker (P, $6.00) is warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Central Perk (P, $6.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Viseart Brick (Warm Mattes #12) (P, ) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Cherry Cola (DC, $6.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Urban Decay Fire Starter (LE, $19.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Relish (DC, $19.00) is less shimmery, more muted, cooler (80% similar). Makeup Geek Mars (LE, $6.00) is cooler (85% similar). Oh groan, OF COURSE the shade I was most interested in, Beverly, is the C+ rated one 🙁 AND it’s not a real red, like other swatches I’ve seen online. This one looks more like a plummy reddish brown. Hmmm, I wonder if there are differences in color between batches, like my CP Plaid shadow is black, no green whatsoever like other swatches I’ve seen online. Hmm, I might just order Beverly anyway, and hope I get a red one. And maybe Crenshaw too. That 10 hours of wear without primer sounds great for my oily lids.
It definitely is more plum than red to me, though if you sheer it out, it gets redder, I would say! ColourPop’s eyeshadows pretty much wear until I take them off – I have had some shades on for 16 hours and no creasing.
Your eye look here is drop-dead gorgeous! Yep, me and my very warm neutrals again, haha! I love this quad very, very much as a result.
And then I need to ask myself whether, perhaps, I already own enough dupes of these? I do have Lorac Undiscovered, MAC Soft Brown and Saddle, also Deep Damson. But the CP ones blend into eachother almost like liquid, they just flow!
Well, at least these would be 1) cheap, 2) in a cream formula, so at least not quite the same as a powder dupe!
Very valid points! If nothing else, that shimmery golden shade because Undiscovered gives me massive fallout and seems dry.
I’m totally agreeing here with you! This is a nice set. Beverly is the trouble maker I was talking about in my comment to you. I received this last week and was so surprised to see it sheer out to look almost red! So, I found using my small finger or a brush to pat it on helps. it has to be built up in quite a few layers. it’s a pain. But, possible.
Central Perk was a little easier to work with, I think, in comparison 🙁
Yep,it is! Probably much easier to just use that with this look. I have Central Perk! Thanks for reminding me..Yay for dupes! Plus, yay for CP costing $5. So, my wallet is not sobbing if they do have a rare miss!
I wonder why Beverly is so patchy. I have other burgundy shades from CP and they’re all amazing.
It seemed almost thinner though not SUPER dry (not like a few of the matte finishes have been), but not really sure.
🙁 I wish red/burgundy shades performed better! The only truly GOOD red shade I’ve found so far is MUFE’s Morello Cherry (M846 I think is the number?) I have CP’s Hustle but it’s hard to work with IMO, and I have MUG’s Bitten but mine I think is a dud because it performs even worse than your review of it did… I have the LC’s Venus Palette as well but I find that the red/burgundy shades blend away too easily if I’m not careful… sigh 🙁
Well, at least you found one winner, lol! Maybe a stronger base/primer, something beige or white? Maybe use Hustle as a base and Bitten or Morello Cherry on top!
Morello Cherry, yes! Prominent on my MUFE wish list. Been thinking of that one as a blush, with a light hand and ‘1920s’ placement. It would probably take over, if you put it on the apples. Never, but almost got Bitten. Once there’s a MUFE, there’s no contest. And MC is in-store. Swatches well. Lots of good looks on MUG for Bitten, that you could do with MC.
BTW, and not wanting to open a can of worms, has Lime Crime redeemed itself? Christine, please feel free to edit out this comment, if you think it stirs up an old controversy
I can’t personally imagine a day where I would review Lime Crime again, but I hold no judgment against those who purchase or use Lime Crime. As far as I understand, they continue to operate as a brand, but they have had issues in the last year (security breach, FDA warning letter).
Not feeling the purple shade. But otherwise nice pigmented looking colors! I like how the eyeliner you used paired with this set.
Thank you, Denise!
This was deja vu. Looking at the quad pictured I immediately tilt my head and ask Tom Ford Honeymoon but a bit different and ColourPop in screw containers? Can it be? Hmm. Add shimmer and brighten Same color idea! I thought Beverly would be like Porter Already Have that set and others are neutrals ✔️ What could they not remake? Very pretty eye look with these Christine! Now don’t know what I think. I have been trying not let ColourPop win. Was about to grab Honeymoon because plum copper berry gold. What to do?
Oh Lionbabe is gorgeous on you! Friendly not waterline friendly. ?
Yeah, I don’t think I’d recommend a Liquidlast Liner on the waterline!!
Kind of like a much less shimmery version 🙂
Joy, thanks for reminding me about TF Honeymoon! I will probably just save up and wait for that!
I didn’t think I was going to like her collection when I first heard about this collaboration but I actually love it. Everything is so beautiful!! Beverly could have performed a little better but I’m still digging this set. It’s very pretty and great for everyday eyes
I think they would work for every day, especially on medium and darker complexions in particular (but I think fair/light skin tones could still rock this look!).
Lovely colours on you Christine, but they are generally way too warm for me.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Aw man, Beverly is not as dark as I hoped it would be. (Also I was hoping for a better rating, obviously)
Many layers and it may be possible, but definitely not easily achieved! 🙁
/drool, these colors are totally up my alley. So pretty <3
That’s a pass for me, the one I like best is the worst!
Awww… Beverly was the only one in this bunch I was interested in. =(
These shades are stunning! I really want to try more ColourPop shadows!

Wauw, such a good value! I’m impressed. Lovely eyelook as well. Again: no worries for my low buy period, since we do not have colourpop here :'(
Lovely shades! Right up my alley. Great eye look also 🙂
Is it just me, or has Colour Pop been doing a lot of warm brown, tan, and beige shades lately, and not so many wild and crazy, colorful shades? Beverly looks interesting on my monitor, like orange is peeking out from behind the burgundy. Too bad it doesn’t blend so well! Oh, well, it wouldn’t be a great color for me anyway.
ColourPop shadows are quickly becoming the adult version of my beanie baby collection from childhood – I need to have them all!
Wilshire and Crenshaw are exactly what I’ve been looking for; I will have them.
I really like the undertone of Beverly; it’s close to Central Perk, but not close enough to be a dupe because of the undertone. I think I could achieve the same look by layering Central Perk over Shop.
