Mimi from the Drew Carey show ruined blue shadow for me and I dont wear it but this thing looks so pretty. I don’t know why I want it so bad knowing it would never get used. I need help lol

It is really pretty! Blue is not a shade I ever think of using. However, rather than doing a whole look with just these shades, I’d use this palette to add a pop of blue to a neutral eye look. Also, Lumi looks like a great inside corner shade that I could use with lots of looks.

You don’t have to do a solid blue look. Seraphine’s spot on. Plus, you can use blues with nudes, golds, bronzes, browns, and peaches with the blues to keep them from looking too garish. Put blue in the outer corner of the eye, put a bright or light shimmery blue on the lid (or even just the center of the lid), or just add a pop of color to the lower lash line.

Mimi has a lot to answer for! I loved the Drew Carey show and I use to tell my twin sister that her double was Mimi (in terms of personality).

I’m not even a little tempted by this. I have green eyes, and blue just doesn’t play well on me.
Heaven help me if ColourPop were to come out with a rosy taupe palette, though – I’d be ALL OVER that one!

ColourPop is one of my very favorite brands, and Heaven knows I LOVE eyeshadow, but I’ve always (well, since I started wearing makeup, which was around 1977) had an antipathy for blue eyeshadow.
But those who enjoy blues will probably love this palette, and that’s great; it does have a summer/nautical vibe.
I can’t help being a little curious, though: What lipstick and blush would you wear with these shadows?

I’m not too much of a blue eyeshadow wearer myself but when I do I always use a peach or peachy nude blush to compliment the blue shadow and then a lip color similar to my natural one as to not get too crazy with color on the face.

When I wear blues I wear only very light peach blush and a light nude lip (like Pillow Talk). It might not be correct but it doesn’t compete with the eyeshadow!

Thankfully, blue eyeshadows have come a long way from the chalky blues of the 60s-80s. If I’m doing a predominantly blue eye look, I usually go with a peach, coral, or warm nude blush. On my lips, I’ll wear peach, coral, a warm brown such as UD 1993, bronze, or copper.

I light bubblegum pink blush also works very well if one is cool-toned, but it requires more care with the lip shade to avoid looking like a an 80s relic. Cool or neutral nudes, mauve, cool or neutral browns, a sheer and non-shimmery pink lipgloss.

I see it has already been mentioned, but peachy colors – -especially subtle ones — go great with blues. I also wear blue lipstick on occasion, and when I do, I go with an overall nude look to the rest of my face with warm peachy-nude tones as my palette.

I bought this palette (and Just My Luck) practically in my sleep last night.

Note to self: Never go online when you’re in bed waiting for the sleeping pill to take effect.

Very lol. I ordered it, but think greens are covered by SG in my stash. Also the pot liner set and a wing stamp from Ulta. High buy Mem Day, but overall, way ahead of the curve.

You bought makeup in your sleep?
I think even my subconscious would refuse to buy blue eyeshadow – that’s how awful it looks on me.
Does the FDA know about this? lol

One of the dangers of Ambien…sleep-shopping!! My favorite color is blue, so I suppose my half-asleep mind saw the palette and thought, “ooh, pretty!” Luckily, I know someone who wants these palettes, so they’ll go to her.

Actually, I think the shimmery blues could make nice pops of color used sparingly on a neutral eye, but I couldn’t see using the matte blues.

I think I’m prejudiced against blue – I like sapphire blue as a clothing or decorating color, but I avoid wearing blue clothes, because every time I do, I can count on someone remarking on my “pretty blue eyes,” and my eyes are *green.* People will actually *argue* with me about my own eye color, and I find that annoying.
Also, I think I was literally frightened by blue eyeshadow back in the ‘70s, when my [older] sister, who has really beautiful blue eyes, wore that Aziza (or Maybelline; I don’t recall which) chalky blue eyeshadow from lashes to brows. All you saw was the makeup, not her eyes. She also wore mini-skirts and straightened the hail out of her hair. So, to me, blue eyeshadow = ‘70s tackiness. So I have a lot of blue eyeshadow baggage. 😉

Ugh don’t you hate when people argue with you over eye color? I think they are on my face so I would know thank you! I have green eyes as well and I get the same thing! Wonder what that is about for us greenies?!

Another green eyed person here…and I’m wondering why people like to deny green eyes. Years ago, I knew someone who insisted my eyes are hazel, even though they are clearly olive green…so green, in fact, that people have asked me if I’m wearing colored contacts.

I’ve had people react to my assertion that my eyes are green, not blue, with, “Are youSURE?
“Yes, I’m sure. They’re green.”
Are they BLUE-green?”
“Probably, but they’re still green.”
“Are you SURE?”
“Yes, I’m sure – they’ve been green since I was a child.”
“They look BLUE to me.”
“Are you color-blind?”
“Are you SURE?”
“Oh, my goodness – look what time it is!”

Come on ColourPop, you can do better! I can’t tell the difference between Mad About U and Clued In. Starry Eyed, Fine China, and Tide Pool are practically the same color with one difference in finish and one slight difference in value. Moonlight and Starry Eyed only vary in undertone, and not nearly enough. Boo! There are so many versions of blue out there in the world, from subtle slate blue to indigo to aqua to ultramarine to periwinkle. It make no sense whatsoever to produce a 9-pan palette that could easily be a quad without losing potential looks. It’s like they weren’t even trying.

I’m not a ColourPop stan or anything, but they look different enough to me. Certainly more varied than the red palette they just put out, both in color and finishes. Maybe adjust the colors on your monitor?

My monitor’s fine. I would agree that they look different enough in the pan, and have a visible difference in the swatches, but these are the kinds of colors that, once applied, aren’t different enough to distinguish themselves in an eye look. A good half of these would run together on the eye in a way that would totally justify turning this into a quad.

I thought the same thing. There are so many shades that could have been included that would have been wonderful to add to my collection. This, as another commenter mentioned, only evokes Mimi from Drew Carey. What a wasted opportunity.

Couldn’t agree more. The first thing I thought when I looked at this palette was – they did an all blue palette and they couldn’t even put a true periwinkle in there?!!!

Love your comment. My thoughts exactly. And, I don’t even wear blue eye shadows. It’s like someone had a good idea and someone else didn’t know how to execute it.

I actually appreciate your comment. It made me think and look at the swatches more closely. After letting it percolate in my head for a few hours, I came to the conclusion I do not need this palette. I won’t wear it and I also feel the shades run together, not in pan, but more so on skin swatches. My eye initially caught Da Ba Dee and Billie Jean which I quite like. Since I can never check out with one item when I’m paying for shipping (Canada), chances were I would not escape until I was in for forty dollars or greater. At that rate, I’d rather buy a handful of SG.

Yeah looking at the swatches Mad about you and clued in are waaay close! That’s a bummer. I feel like this one started great but missed the mark a little now. I think for 12 bucks I might still get it for my mother who looooves blue and we don’t have a lot of blue in our collections so it works out but it could have been better!

Is it just me or are all the blues very tacky and reminds one of the 70s? I agree with other commenters that there are so many other, prettier versions of blue. UD’s white walker quad in the GoT palette is better than this lol. I feel like these shades would only look good on maybe very fair, white skin? I know for sure it won’t look good with my brown, South Asian undertones.

I was semi considering this one, but seeing that the shades of blue are all pretty much running together I will likely pass this one up. If the teal had been more distinctly TEAL, if the 3 dark blues would have had very different undertones, this could have been a gem.

The swatches look fab! Mad About You and Clued In are kind of similar. It would have been nice if they had made Clued In a deep navy or midnight blue. Or perhaps put a smidge of a green tone in it. Still, I think I’ll get this. Good blue palettes are hard to find.

It’s a very pretty blue eyeshadow palette and whilst I do wear blues, I wouldn’t use half of the palette because the lighter blues are too bright or mid tone for me. A shame there isn’t a proper navy in this one.

Snickering at ColourPop’s Eiffel 65 reference (and trying not to hum the stupid song!). Not sure I’ll actually buy the palette, but it is very pretty.

I’m getting 80s vibes from this! I can’t help but picture someone with 80s hair wearing one of these matte blue shades.

This is on its way to me now. I have all of these 9 pan palettes from colourpop and I can’t wait to play with this one?

Arghh..for 12 smackerooos, I may have to get this one. I never do a full on blue eye, just usually use it as an accent. These could look very mod as one and dones too.

Christine, since I bought this palette in my sleep, I’ve been searching for ways that my green eyes could wear blue shadows. But when I did a Google Image search for “Colourpop Blue Moon looks” I found an image of your eye wearing blue eyeshadow called “Once in a Blue Moon Look Featuring Colourpop,” but when I clicked on it, it led me to this page with no picture of your eye!

Hello all,

It’s been awhile, so busy and trying hard to be on a no buy for 28 days (yeah I did it 😉 ). As someone who’s been crying for an almost all blue palette (a green or two would have been a nice addition), this definitely appeals to me. And unless the swatches are in the dupe system, it says I don’t have even one dupe! Sooooo, I may consider it. I’ll wait for a rating though even if they’re shadows are expensive.
