Clinique Red-y to Party Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick

Red-y to Party

Clinique Red-y to Party Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a softer, medium red with neutral undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that applied evenly across my lips and didn’t settle into my lip lines.

The texture felt smooth, lightly emollient but firmer overall–the kind of product that “melts” against yours lips as you work with it but doesn’t actually feel stiff–and didn’t slide around while worn. It stayed on nicely for five hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$19.50/0.13 oz. - $150.00 Per Ounce

The formula is described as having "rich color" with a "smoothing primer" that "keeps lips comfortably moisturized." Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer, and the shades that were a bit weaker were somewhat buildable. The deeper shades tended to perform the best, while a few of the lighter shades settled slightly into lip lines (not too noticeable, or not at all, in person).

Some shades were more smoothing than others, so I think the "smoothing primer" claim was the weakest and wasn't always met. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being heavy or too slippery, and didn't tug during application. The formula was comfortable and hydrating while worn, and they lasted between four and six hours. There didn't seem to be any scent or taste.

Clinique Red-y or Not Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick

Red-y or Not

Clinique Red-y or Not Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a darker, muted red with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage with a smooth, lightweight consistency that was thin without being clingy, as it still had some slip.

There was also a touch of tackiness, which helped to keep the product in place better over time, and I felt like this also helped it look smoother. It lasted well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

I might need most of these reds. Clinique has put together a collection of totally wearable reds but still with enough oomph for the red lover.
