Clinique Honey, Honey Ornament Set Review, Photos, Swatches
Honey, Honey
Clinique Honey, Honey Ornament Set ($15.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a simple set that includes two, miniature-sized Almonst Lipsticks in Pink Honey and Black Honey. The Almost Lipstick is described as having “transparent pigment [that] merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips” with a “sheer, glossy, emollient-rich, and very lightweight” formula. The description is fairly apt–enough pigmentation that they do alter the natural lip color but are still sheer that the natural lip color comes through. What I liked about the formula was that they still applied evenly and didn’t sink into my lip lines much while having decent wear (three hours) that was hydrating.
Value
A full-sized Almost Lipstick retails for $17.50 and contains 0.07 oz. or costs $250.00/oz. The set contains $20.00 worth of product.

Pink Honey
Pink Honey is a soft, medium pink with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It lightened my natural lip color and gave it a lighter, pinker look while still allowing my natural lip color to come through, which was as described. The texture was lightweight, emollient but not overly slippery, and comfortable to wear. There was just a smidgen of color in my deeper lip lines that wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The lipstick stayed on well for three hours and was moisturizing.

Black Honey
Black Honey is a muted, medium plum with subtle, warm undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-sheer coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across the lips. The texture was soft, lightly emollient, and comfortable to wear. Despite being sheer and emollient, it did not pull into my lip lines. This shade wore well for three hours on me and was hydrating.

I just love Black Honey, been wearing it for years. Like that is sheer and hydrating.
I’m not surprised it’s a long-time fave!
Good ol’ Black Honey is *still* the best un-lipstick lipstick to this day! However, I’m not feeling Pink Honey for my own use. That one looks far better on lighter tone lips, or lips that have little to no red in them, due to its sheerness.
Black Honey is one of my all time favorites . . . but Burts Bees “red dahlia” tinted lip balm is a very close dupe at about a third of the cost! (I didn’t see it on your dupes list but it’s the closest I’ve found).
Sorry, I don’t have that one to compare and only list dupes that I know of myself 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Good to know, thanks for sharing! Black Honey is the only lipstick I can think of that I’ve purchased more than once. I wore it before I was into makeup, and still wear it now that I’m half obsessed with makeup.
Every Christmas for the past 4 years I have bought my mother a new tube of black honey, because she ADORES it, and finishes them like water!
I may get her a new tube, and this set. So she can keep these in her purse and one in her makeup bag!
Pass for me. I already own Black Honey, and I’m not crazy about it.
Oh no! What don’t you like about Black Honey?
It’s not that I hate it, but I just don’t like it much, either. I don’t think it changes into any kind of perfect and most-flattering color on me, like everyone else says it does on them. It’s just a run-of-the-mill sheer rust. The formula is fine, but nothing exciting to me. It’s just kind of “meh.” I occasionally go back to trying to use it, but I can’t get excited about it or understand the hype and cult following it has.
Gotcha, Rachel! Thank you for taking the time to explain and satisfying my curiosity 😉
No problem! Not every product works for everyone. 🙂
Black Honey makes me so sad. I am the one person it is not flattering on. It looks amazing on so many people, but I just can’t wear it. It pulls a really unpleasant brown on me
Awwww! 🙁
I finally bought Black Honey a month or two ago and realise the hype! It’s so beautiful. Wish they were selling this duo in the UK, my mum would love it. Have you seen the Black Honey Chubby Stick that’s in one of the Clinique gift sets this year? It’s actually even better than the Almost Lipstick and I will cry if they do not release it in a 3g size!
