Clinique A Pink Honey Affair All About Shadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Clinique A Pink Honey Affair All About Shadow Palette
Clinique A Pink Honey Affair All About Shadow Palette ($40.00 for 0.41 oz.) contains eight shades of warm, pinky neutrals. Three shades are from other palettes (duo/quad/palette, actually), and then five are from the singles range. I half-hoped that this was going to be a cooler-toned neutral palette, but it ended up quite warm-toned overall. The All About Shadow formula is supposed to be long-wearing, crease-resistant, fade-resistant, and have “creamy colour [that] glides on in one smooth stroke.” The formula is more what you might associate with Clinique: subdued, sheerer, better for those who like exactly that type of application and look, but if you want intense coverage, you’ll want to look elsewhere. The colors have some overlap within the palette, which makes it easy to use and blend everything together, but it could be more contrasting and versatile.
Jammin #1 is a light, subtly pink-tinted beige with warm undertones and a pearl shimmer. It had semi-opaque coverage with a firmer press, which made it seem thinner in consistency and a little dusty on the lid. I could see it working for those who prefer a sheerer wash or want something less opaque for highlighting the brow bone. The color lasted for seven hours on me before fading. Tarte Blush Stilettos (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Make Up For Ever S522 Pinky Nude (DC, $21.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Pretty (LE, $17.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Ballet Flats is a light-medium peach with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nice color payoff with a soft, blendable texture that was a little soft and looser to work with, but I didn’t notice it sheer out much on the skin. Oh bummed about those grades. I have still yet to find a palette with nudes/browns that are pigmented and blendable… I would ideally want the Bobbi Brown brown eyes palette, but it’s no longer being sold. Any recs? Otherwise, I’m using my Hourglass bronzer and highlight as eyeshadow. My Stila Spirit palette is not great– too weakly pigmented for some of the colors
Urban Decay Naked palettes are all nice, I think, with Naked Smoky being the more disappointing of the ones they’ve released. Viseart has a few neutral-based palettes as well. I think Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are pretty under-pigmented, so we may have different ideas on that!
How about BECCA Ombre Nudes palette? Here! Check out this product at Sephora.com – BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette – (null)
http://www.sephora.com/ombre-nudes-eye-palette-P388118?skuId=1616887&om_mmc=oth-email-mobileappshare
I was looking at those too! I like browns, but I would prefer a palette with more mattes and shiny/shimmers. Hmmm.
Hi LC! Check out the MJB Lolita palette! 🙂 Spotted just now on Sephora Mobile

Or MUFE Nudes you need is great! The first two Naked UD palettes like Christine said Are great also. Check out this product at Sephora.com – MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 1 – Nudes – (null)

What about the new Lorac nudes palette?
This is a poor reason, but I just hate the look of Lorac palettes. They are so boring and raggedy-looking, lol. No shade but…. I’m a sucker for packaging, even though I get that’s not an important factor.
the new lorac one doesnt look like the pro palettes FYI, its a sleek gunmetal color hard plastic case
The Bobbi Brown Brown’s Eye Palette LE for $45? They still have that at Neimans online. Also the Sterling night’s eye palette, Nude on Nude Palette, Greige palette and Bobbi’s Rich Carmel Eye Palette are worth looking into if you like Bobbi Brown. BECCA’s Ombre nudes aren’t a flat matte at all. They blend well. That’s all I can think of. Try Temptalia’s search tool for a palette you love. She has so much to look through with thorough reviews will be of way more help than me. ? I’m just awake. Lol.
Noticed that Bobbi Brown revealed a Nude On Nude palette today:
http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/product/13996/40429/Palettes-and-Sets/Nude-on-Nude-Eye-Palette/SS16
I’m looking for a palette of nudes with no shimmer or sparkle. It would be nice if this palette received good reviews.
Oh dear. The quality of the shadows seems to be all over the place with this palette. I’ve never really been impressed with Clinique shadows, and it looks like they really need to step up their game!
It really was!
It has a bit of a Naked 3 vibe about it .
Like a browner version, in a way.
There is something tedious about this palette. It would bore me to death, I think. And I actually DO wear neutral types of shades more often than not, but much more varied and less same-same-y. I prefer the kapow factor in my nudes/neutrals!
Yeah, I’d like more variety within the 8!
Pretty! Not bad! I like your liner too. Looks like Midnight Violet! ?
Thanks, Joy!
This looks pretty but I feel like I am overloaded with warm-toned neutral palettes now. Other than the Urban Decay Naked 2 and Lorac Pro 2, do you know of any other good quality cool-toned neutral shadow palettes?
Viseart’s is the closest, but there aren’t really many cool-toned palettes out there… at all.
I haven’t tried it yet, but NYC just came out with the Demi Lovato neutrals palette. It’s getting good reviews, and most of the swatches look like they lean cooler to neutral
MAC eyeshadow X 15 Cool .. I’m not sure if they perform well in the palette.
Kat Von D Interstellar is good!
Too faced Boudoir eyes looks like it could be.
Interstellar all the way. My vote for a cool neutral palette other than what you named. Does it appeal to you?
Also, Bobbi Brown Greige Palette. http://m.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/product/2330/37242/Makeup/Eyes/Eye-Shadow/Greige-Eye-Palette/FH15
Because I had really like the Color Pop blushes, I was fooled into trying Clinique eye shadow again after swearing off the brand for years. The All About Shadow palettes look pretty but are so-so at best…and I tried quite a few. This looked tempting at first (particularly Portobello) but I’m glad I passed.
Oh no! 🙁 I keep wanting them to do well!
This reminds me of the Bobbi Brown palette I tried and wanted to love. They just had no color pay off out of the pan. I had to put a base under them to make it work. I wound up returning them because for $70, I felt like that was way too much work.
Aww! I hear you. Primer is nice for that extra boost, but I think you can get pretty good quality these days that shines even without primer!
Well crap. I’d seen some photos that made this look a little more nuanced and neutral. I’ll be skipping this.
Aww!
Nope definitely not for me. I know lots of people who like a more natural look, and that’s what Clinique is well known for, but even with primer, my oily lids are going to gobble up the thinner, sheerer formula within minutes, then whatever is less will blend into one muddy mess. I need crazy pigment and denser formulas, like UD or Colour Pop
I can totally see your lids eating this one, lol!
Well, that’s another thing to take off my wishlist. I didn’t really need another neutral palette, but the rosy browns are a weakness. Portabello could have been so pretty if the lavender sparkle showed up.
Definitely a miss 🙁
This seems like it might work for someone with warm undertones who prefers a barely-there kind of look. It’s too bad the shades perform so inconsistently, though.
Definitely, Fran! For a soft, sheer look, I think this could work.
Pretty but I prefer consistency in the grades. Glad I got Teddy Bear by Clinique instead. Love the ye liner.
Me too! 🙁
Clinique, which I vaguely recall initially started out to be a company using pure, non-allergenic ingredients, uses carmine. I love this palette but can’t use carmine on my eyes. They have carmine in the black honey shadows and liner, too, which is a no-go for me. Bummer. I think this is so pretty.
Oh no! 🙁
P.S. I love it that you show a photo with the list of ingredients in your reviews. It saves me a fruitless trip to the store to read that something contains my note of doom.
Happy to help, Kelly! 🙂
This looks like one half of Naked 1. And the colours are very similar, as you have mentioned. Way too warm for me.
I can see what you mean!
Nothing about this pallette really jumps out at me, especially with those ratings.
Pretty much 🙁
Bummer. The shades I was most interested in got the worst grades. 🙁 Thanks for saving me the money!
No problem, Valerie!
Mmm… I prefer sticking with my little drugstore palettes than purchasing this one :-/
Good idea! 🙁
Disappointed. The first four colors look almost like dupes for each other.
They are very similar to each other!
Nope…. Nothing in this palette calls out to me. The first four shades look quite similar; and the fifth and sixth look similar to each other as well, the seventh one suddenly turns a bit cool toned; only the eighth one shows some spirit but is again quite dupable. The pigmentation also lacks depth( even for a sheer shadow)… And wouldnt show up at all on my eyes. This one is a total pass for me.
Yep! It could really use more contrast – it would be more versatile!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Wear Everywhere Nudes palette that Clinique put out. I reach for it almost every time I want to do eyeshadow! Too bad this one doesn’t seem to be nearly on the same level. I’ve never been a fan of Clinique’s mattes but even the shimmers aren’t too impressive here. And the lack of shade contrast/diversity is disappointing, to say the least
I’m glad to hear at least one is good quality 😀
Meh.
Thanks for sharing!
Ugh what a disappointingly boring palette. I wish Clinique would step up their game again.
Some of their other palettes look like they are other things than neutrals, this is just the one I bought.
Is there any brand that manages to make buttery pigmented light shades without being chalky?
Lighter shades always seem to be sheer (shimmery) and dry and sheer (matte)…
Lots of brands do!
I’m sure a lot of people will love this palette. I’m not one of them. The colours are pretty, but they are so much alike I feel they could have made this a quad instead. I guess it could be nice on a very lazy day when you don’t feel like blending.
They definitely could have made it a quad instead!
Too boring and not pigmented enough for me (I have oily eyelids). I’ll stick with my UD Naked 2 and 3 palettes!
Naked3 ought to cover ya 🙂
Meh, kinda boring. Nothing about this palette excites me.
Totally understand!
those three shades on the left are waaaay too similar to all be included in this one palette!
I hear ya, Bina!
I want to love Clinique’s eyeshadows, but I just prefer highly pigmented formulas.
Totally understand, Jennifae!
The shades in this palette looks amazing. Got to check this out for sure.
Enjoy!
I like the idea of the Clinique palettes but it looks like there are 8 pans but only 6 distinct shades? Thanks for reviewing this palette! I would love to see more Clinique reviews.
No problem, Averymae!
I bought this a while back as well as the Neutral Territory 2 palette Clinique put out last year, I think it was.
I’ve found both to be really really good palettes for soft, everyday looks that don’t need to be blended out to death. I can do a quick pigment neutral pigment wash all over my lids & then use shades from either or both of these palettes to build the look from there. Very fast, easy & effective & it always looks good. I like the way these lay on the skin too, not making lids look dry & horrifically unattractive like some shadows do. I use them a lot more often than I expected to, which is saying something because I’ve amassed a boatload of palettes & singles over the years, many of which I rarely touch.
Yes, the odd shade may not be as heavily pigmented as some of the others, but they still work very well for me. So if anybody is looking for a good palette for everyday, soft, neutral eye looks for the office or light makeup days, these Clinique palettes are definitely worth giving a shot IMO If you really end up hating them, get your money back. Personally, I like these a lot better than the crusty, dry, unblendable Bobbi Brown palette that I bought & returned over the holidays.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Sandra!
