Lovegasm

Charlotte Tilbury Lovegasm Glowgasm Face Palette ($75.00 for 0.52 oz.) is a new, limited edition quartet of pressed powders that are primarily designed for cheeks but can also be used on eyes. The palette includes a highlighter, highlighting blush (“Multi-Glow”), bronzer, and blush. The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque (and buildable) to opaque, while the texture was smooth to the touch, blendable on my skin, and none of them emphasized my skin’s natural texture. They wore between eight and nine hours on me.

If you’re someone who likes the more gel-powder hybrid formulas, then this is likely to have more appeal; I think that the powders are, on average, a smidgen firmer than is typical for gel-powder formulas, which there are many at this point! They perform best with moderately dense brushes and a moderate hand, but very feathery or barely-there touches aren’t going to yield much pigment. If you haven’t tried this type of formula, you might mull over why it is good, but the asset is in the lack of powderiness and that smoother, but firmer, texture–they tend to sit particularly well on skin and blended out more easily (in my experience) with more of a “melted” look on skin.

Lovegasm Highlight

Lovegasm Highlight is a light-medium gold with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a soft, slightly drier texture that was firmly-pressed and needed a slightly heavier hand to pick up evenly–this gel-powder formula is often more firmly pressed (but has no powderiness), and this seemed a bit firmer than average. The powder applied well to bare skin, blended out nicely, and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Lovegasm Multi-Glow

Lovegasm Multi-Glow is a medium-dark, reddish-copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to my skin and spread out with ease, leaving behind a glowing finish that didn’t accentuate my skin’s natural texture. The powder had a firmer texture, consistent with the gel-powder formula, but it picked up well with a moderately dense blush brush and blended out easily. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours before there was visible fading.

Ingredients

Mica, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Squalane, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Xanthan Gum, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Silica, Dicalcium Phosphate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492), Carmine (Ci 75470)].

Lovegasm Bronze

Lovegasm Bronze is a medium brown with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had very, very fine pearl throughout, and as I buffed and blended the powder on my skin, it had a smoother sheen (without visible shimmer). The consistency was more firmly-pressed in the pan, which was consistent with this gel-powder type of formula, but does work best with denser brushes (the upside is no powderiness). It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The color stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

Mica, Dimethicone, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Sorbitan Isostearate, Peg-12 Dimethicone, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Citrate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Xanthan Gum, Alumina, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499)].

Lovegasm Pop Blush

Lovegasm Blush is a light-medium, pink-coral with warm, golden shimmer and faint sparkle. The color payoff was semi-opaque but buildable, while the consistency seemed a little softer than the other shades in the palette, though not to the point where it became powdery or messy to work with. The powder applied evenly to my skin and blended out without difficulty. It had a stronger sheen but never emphasized my skin’s texture. It wore beautifully for eight and a half hours before it showed signs of fading.

Ingredients

Mica, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Squalane, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Xanthan Gum, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Silica, Dicalcium Phosphate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492), Carmine (Ci 75470)].

I’m glad you posted this review. I thought the colors looked so beautiful in the pans but when I look at the swatches and on you, I realize they are not colors I could wear. Thanks for saving me money!

Sorry, I don’t keep track of what brushes I use unless there’s an issue with application using brushes in general – I use whatever is clean and makes sense, like I’m not going to use an eyeshadow brush for a blush and vice versa. (I go through about 100-150 brushes a week so often what I reach for is also based on what is clean!) Any moderately dense blush brush should work fine with this product – I just wouldn’t use any super feathery brushes with it.

Do you think the bronzer would suit darker skin tones? I know this is the deeper of the palettes but seeing the bronzer swatched makes me doubt it would work on my NC45 skin tone.

Christine Avatar

I think you might see warmth, very subtle darkening possibly! More in the category of a subtle bronzer – like I bet it will be nice on and hard to overdo, but if you tend to prefer a bit more noticeable darkening it might not be deep enough.

Here is a YouTube video from someone with a darker skin tone and the Lovegasm palette – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGGGQiIEv1U
And another (she says she is NC44!) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d428EJteRmI

Both of those YouTubers apply it on camera, so hopefully that helps!

This palette has gorgeous shades! I wonder if they might be too dark for me, even with a light hand. The Pop Blush is particularly stunning!
