Chanel Rouge Carmin & Rouge Grenat Rouge Coco Glosses Reviews & Swatches
Rouge Carmin (824)
Chanel Rouge Carmin (824) Rouge Coco Gloss ($30.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a rich, ruby red with a cream finish and moderate shine paired with neutral-to-cool undertones. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly to my lips and smoothed out most of my lip lines.
The texture was lightweight, non-sticky, and spreadable, though it could have been a bit less fluid as I felt like it was hard to get crisp edges (I’d recommend using a lip liner!). It wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time, and it did not feather on me, though that’s not something that happens easily to me.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.19 oz. - $157.89 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have “intense shine, hydration” with a “gel-like texture” with shades that vary from “sheer to opaque” in coverage. The consistency has a smooth, lightweight texture that can feel more like a gel-like texture with some of the sheerer shades and more like a cream and gel hybrid with more opaque shades. It’s a formula that’s comfortable to wear with light tackiness that lasts anywhere from two to four hours and is hydrating over time.
There was a strong, mirror-like shine across the shades that was very reminiscent of the prior Glossimer formula. There was a faint floral scent, and with some shades, I got a subtle taste of perfume. The doe foot applicator was more unique (at least, to me) with a very curved edge that was great for my bottom lip while flipping it gave me a more paddle-shaped edge that worked better for my top lip.
I would love to see Chanel introduce color descriptions on their retail website, especially for a formula like this where there can be such a huge difference in pigmentation (and finish) from one shade to the next that isn’t obvious from a product photo.

Rouge Grenat (826)
Chanel Rouge Grenat (826) Rouge Coco Gloss ($30.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a deep red with subtle, cool undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. There was an odd speckled look to product when swatched and applied to my lips–almost like black shimmer–which didn’t translate into a particularly flattering look.
It had semi-opaque color payoff that applied evenly in a single, fluid stroke, but there was a bit of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, though others were smoothed out. It stayed on well for five hours, felt hydrating, and didn’t feather on me over time.

I loved Rouge Grenat until you mentioned the black speckled effect, looked a little closer and sure enough, it DOES. Weird that it has that going on with it. Unfortunate too.
But then there’s the very clear, bright Rouge Carmin to brighten up my view! That one is a lovely one for a bright red gloss.
Gorgeous shades, it’s a shame when there is problems with the formula.
