Chanel La Secrete & Libre Rouge Allure Velvets Reviews, Photos, Swatches
La Secrete (61)
Chanel La Secrete (61) Rouge Allure Velvet ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation, but it was not fully opaque and could have applied more evenly.
The Rouge Velvet formula is supposed to be “non-drying” with “intensely rich, long-wearing colour” paired with a “soft, velvet matte finish.” The latter should be code for “not really matte,” as they have a more satin-to-matte finish that gets less satin and more matte after one to two hours of wear. The consistency was incredibly smooth and velvety, so it glided on easily and never tugged, but there was some slip to it that seemed to interfere with the application–some color gathered in lines, not totally even, and it had shorter-wear than most of the Rouge Allure Velvets do for me at a mere three and a half hours. The formula was, though, non-drying.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.12 oz. - $375.00 Per Ounce
The Rouge Allure Velvet formula is supposed to be a "non-drying matte lipstick" with "intensely rich, long-wearing colour" and has a "velvet matte finish." Over time, I felt like the formula has improved and is actually non-drying (the original launch did not wear well on me) to lightly drying (seen more in shades that have lasted six to eight hours). The pigmentation varies from shade to shade but is usually semi-opaque to opaque with a semi-matte to satin finish. The texture had a velvety, glide-on feel that doesn't feel particularly creamy or wet, yet the lipstick is comfortable to wear over the four to six hours it typically lasts for. Like most Chanel lip products, they have a rosy scent but no discernible taste.

Libre (62)
Chanel Libre (62) Rouge Allure Velvet ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rose with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, which applied evenly and smoothly across the lips. The lipstick had a really smooth, lightweight texture that wasn’t too slippery and went on better than La Secrete. On me, this shade lasted for five hours, was non-drying, and was comfortable to wear.

lovely color. too bad that it did not apply evenly .
Agreed!
Not my colors, and probably more matte than I would like, too.
I like more shine in general myself, but these were a lot more comfy than your average matte at least.
I was eyeing Libre, but it looks really close to BITE Pepper, so will probably skip. Love the dupes list! But Chanel’s going to get me on the Elegante quad, and maybe Subtil as well, depending on how it swatches in store
Definitely in that kind of color family, Katherine! 🙂
Omg! Libre looks perfect with Elegance. Subtle and refined. Good year ’round. Neutral enough for ATT. Too nice. Many will get extensive use from that pair. Might have to skip, bec lovely as they are, I very seldom use the dupes I have….
If you aren’t using the dupes you have, I’d skip! Too pricey to get for only one or two uses!
Glad that #62 Libre got a good rating – it’s my kind of colour and I think that’s what I’ll be splurging on this year!
Woohoo! Enjoy, Stephanie!
Ha ha ha ha, I looked at Libre and thought “Ooh, I like that!” and then read through the dupes, realised I have FIVE of them and then went “But, nah!”
LOL at myself. 🙂
Hahaha! You know you’re a fiend for ___ when you have five dupes…
Or more… and that’s how it is with some….
Libre is IT. Yep. Even though I do have both MAC Cosmo and Mehr, this shade is different enough from them to warrant buying it, I think. Just love how smooth and yet not flat looking it goes on applied!
It’s very velvety going on!
Ooh, I love Libre on you!
Thank you!
I like Libre more, it looks like you have an issue with your link though. It’s just the raw link and not tied to the product. I don’t know the technical term for it lol.
Fixed, so sorry!
Puuuuurty!
