Chanel Intime (93) Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “soft pink.” It’s a light-medium, pink-beige with warm undertones and a soft shine. It had sheer color coverage–it primarily lightened my natural lip color. It doesn’t apply as evenly as I’d like, and on me, it’s only lightly moisturizing. The color lasts two hours on me, which is below average for lipstick, though this is a more emollient, higher slip formula, so it’s not a surprise. Revlon Demure (105) (P, $8.99) is more matte. Tom Ford Beauty Summer Fling (04) (LE, $49.00) is pinker, more pigmented. YSL Nude Beige (1) (P, $34.00) is more opaque, lighter. Too Faced Taffy (P, $21.00) is more pigmented, warmer. Chanel Melba (75) (LE, $34.00) is more beige. Revlon Pink Lemonade (P, $7.49) is a touch lighter, less glossy. MAC Shy Shine (P, $16.00) is more pigmented, warmer, darker. Chanel Confident (94) Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “intense rosewood.” It’s a medium, rosy brown with warm undertones and a soft shine. The color payoff was semi-sheer, so it did change the natural lip color but let a lot of it come through, so it may look different applied to you if you have more pigmented (or significantly different natural undertones) lips. The color lasted for two and a half hours and was lightly hydrating but applied well. Givenchy Nude Guipure (106) (P, $36.00) is more opaque, lighter. Givenchy Rose d’Exception (206) (LE, $36.00) is slightly pinker, more opaque. MAC Shanghai Spice (LE, $16.00) is browner. Guerlain Jicky (P, $35.00) is browner. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Chanel Viva (95) Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “intense fuchsia.” It’s a slightly brightened, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a very faint shimmer and moderate shine. It had semi-opaque color coverage–more than most shades in this formula–and lasted for three and a half hours. It was lightly moisturizing while worn. My guess is “intense” is used to describe greater-than-normal pigmentation. MAC Good Taste (P, $22.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Vigne (P, $24.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Incorrigible (08) (LE, $49.00) is brighter. MAC Quite the Thing! (LE, $17.00) is similar. MAC Heavenly Hybrid (LE, $16.00) is slightly more plum. Revlon Fuchsia Shock (P, $7.99) is a touch brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Chanel Aura (96) Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “plum.” It’s a medium-dark, subtly warm-toned plum with a luminous shine. It had sheer color coverage that applied fairly evenly. It seemed to pull into lip lines over time (noticed after an hour of wear) and lasted three hours on me. It was lightly hydrating. Givenchy Violine Precieux (312) (LE, $36.00) is more matte, more opaque. MAC Sweet Succulence (LE, $16.00) is darker. Chanel Ce Soir (P, $34.00) is warmer. Chanel Destinee (P, $34.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I currently don’t have an opinion on the lipsticks yet but…. Christine your eye makeup is ON POINT!!!! I LOVE it. I may have to pick those up even with the lukewarm reviews.

All four of these look gorgeous on you. And, I know the blush in Innocence did not perform well, but, it looks positively angelic on you in these photos. Chanel should be using these photos to promote this collection…that’s how great you look! Seriously.

The shades are quite pretty, but Aura would be perfect if only it were a touch darker and more opaque. It’s nice as it is, but it didn’t take my breath away like I was expecting it to 🙁 But you kind of made my day with your look: I love the understated use of yellow eye shadow, and will have to steal that idea from you since I’ve been at a loss for nice ways to wear yellow.

If the finished look was the same as what was in the tube, I may consider trying one. I guess I’m of the minority in that for the price I certainly expected better, even though these are supposed to be semi-sheer. How Intime and Confident swatch is a real disappointment, with Aura being the most disappointing. Viva is quite nice, but I have a few similar shades in brands that were reasonably priced. Pass.
