Chanel Gemme Doree & Pierre de Rose Ombre Premiere Cream Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches
Gemme Doree (844)
Chanel Gemme Doree (844) Ombre Premiere Longwear Cream Eyeshadow ($36.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium, sunshine-yellow gold with warm undertones and a soft, metallic sheen. It had rich color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly to my lid. The consistency was dense, cream-like, but had enough slip (and wasn’t tacky to the point of becoming problematic) that it was easy to work with whether I wanted it as an all-over lid shade, a base, or as an eyeliner. It dried down to a crease- and fade-resistant result for 12 hours, and then it started to crease very, very faintly on me.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.14 oz. - $257.14 Per Ounce
Chanel describes the formula as a “smooth-textured cream shadow [that] glides on effortlessly” and is “long-wearing.” Overall, the consistency has moderate slip–emollient but not greasy or overly wet in feel–and feels more like a traditional cream eyeshadow than Chanel’s Illusion d’Ombres. They go on as a thin layer but have fairly good pigmentation. The formula dried down quite quickly leaving little time for blending or diffusing edges, even when working one eye at a time, which was where I struggled. I think some of them tended to work better as lid colors and using something else for a more diffused/blended out crease color. They did, however, wear impeccably for as long as fourteen hours on me–no creasing, fading, or flaking.

Pierre de Rose (846)
Chanel Pierre de Rose (846) Ombre Premiere Longwear Cream Eyeshadow ($36.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of silver sparkle over a more frosted finish. The consistency was moderately tacky; cream-like as anticipated but there was a tackiness present that made it hard to diffuse and move the product around without it clumping on itself. It resulted in an uneven, texture-emphasizing application that read “crusty cotton candy.” Once in place, it did dry down and set without budging for a solid 12 hours on me.

God, that Gemme Doree color is so dupable …hard to believe there could be need for a $36 jar of it.
I was eyeing some nice pink eyeshadows for this spring-summer (not the frosty or metallic type) and I really had high hopes for the Chanel pink quad and this pink cream. Needless to say, I’m beyond disappointed. I’m furious at Chanel.
The Gemme Doree shade would prove to be such a useful shade – not too goldy, just subtle enough to use either all over the eye or in the corners. Very pretty shade.
As pretty as Gemme Doree looks, and despite my feeling that this could seriously act as an anchor on allergy days…i will only go for that previously reviewed Patine shade.
MUFE Aqua creams have these shades, at higher quality & with a better price point.
Why is so difficult a great pink?
