Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick — Catherine, Teheran, Sari Dore
Chanel Catherine (410) Rouge Coco Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pink peach.” It’s a light-medium, softened peach with a hint of pink and a very fine, pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage, but the texture had enough slip in it that it didn’t apply as evenly as desired. On me, the color lasted for three hours but some color pulled into lip lines after two hours of wear. It was neither hydrating nor drying on me. There was a surprising number of dupes for this one. MAC Soft Talkin’ (LE, $20.00) is darker. MAC Real Redhead (LE, $16.00) is slightly pinker. MAC French Twist (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Chanel Adrienne (402) (P, $36.00) is slightly warmer. ColourPop Button (P, $5.00) is more matte, more opaque. Bite Beauty Leche (P, $24.00) is more opaque. Chanel Volage (227) (LE, $34.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect (P, $32.00) is more opaque. NARS Raquel (P, $32.00) is slightly brighter, more opaque. Chanel Cheri (61) (P, $34.00) is pinker. Estee Lauder Insatiable Ivory (P, $30.00) is warmer. Chanel Charmeuse (142) (LE, $34.00) is lighter. NARS Descanso (LE, $25.00) is darker, less glossy. Marc Jacobs Beauty Dizzy Spell (104) (P, $30.00) is similar. Givenchy Beige Plume (102) (P, $36.00) is pinker. MAC Reel Sexy (LE, $16.00) is warmer, brighter. Chanel Teheran (412) Rouge Coco Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pink coral.” It’s a rich, brightened, medium coral-orange with warm undertones and lighter, frosted pink shimmer. It was one of the more shimmery shades that I have seen in the line-up! It had mostly opaque pigmentation, which applied smoothly and evenly. The color stayed on for four and a half hours, and it was very lightly hydrating. The shimmer is what makes it more unique. Gucci Beauty Fever (P, $39.00) is lighter, less shimmery. Bite Beauty Cin Cin (P, $24.00) has no shimmer. MAC Dreaming Dahlia (LE, $16.00) is sheerer, less shimmery. Givenchy Mandarine Bolero (304) (P, $36.00) is darker, no shimmer. Chanel Etonnante (131) (P, $34.00) is more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Understudy (114) (P, $30.00) is less shimmery. Guerlain Gipsy (P, $51.00) is darker, brighter. Chanel Teheran (DC, $34.00) is very similar in color, but the new formula has a glossier finish. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Chanel Sari Dore (414) Rouge Coco Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “satin apricot.” It’s a very slightly muted, medium orange with subtl,e reddish tones and a healthy dose of fine shimmer. It had fairly opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This lipstick wore for four hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating. Chanel Misia (418) (P, $36.00) has a stronger red tone and is a bit darker, but it’s not that different. Guerlain Peach Satin (540) (LE, $37.00) is lighter. Givenchy Corail Signature (317) (P, $36.00) is brighter. MAC Sweet Grenadine (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Sari d’Eau (P, $35.00) is more shimmery. Chanel Sari Dore (DC, $34.00) seemed to have a stronger pink tint to it. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Not a fan of the rouge coco formula myself but Teheran looks really pretty on you.
It’s not my personal favorite, but at $36+ price point, I want it to tick all the boxes of my personal preferences!
Meh. For $ 36, Catherine is waaay too sheer, it looks like a tinted lipbalm from a drugstore. Teheran and Sari Dore are pretty for summer and I like the refined shimmer, but they look almost identical on the lips
They’re definitely in the same kind of family!
I have Sari Doré and I really like it; it’s a very summary colour. Téhéran is really pretty too…might have to check it out!
I love the color of both for summer!
Teheran and Sari Dore are so pretty. What great shades for summer.
They totally scream summer!
I still have my “old” Téhéran, I actually quite like that it’s less glossy, but I reckon this new formula would fare a bit better on dry/chapped lips because of its glossiness!
It’s definitely going to be more flattering, at least during initial application!
Sari Dore is gorgeous! But the star of these pics for me is Clinique’s Rosy Pop 🙂
Haha! 🙂
Oh, I’ve loved Teheran for the longest time, went through 5 tubes of it, such a gorgeous, unique color
You really did love it 😀
Catherine is the one I wanted the most, but when I swatched it I was pretty disappointed in the sheerness. Going to check out the dupes instead.
Hope one of the dupes will work for you! 🙂
Theheran and Sari Dore are both right up my alley. I would probably pick Teheran first. So far, I have picked up the popular Arthur and Julia in this formula. I must say at first I was hesitant because it is sheer than what I am accustomed to. But, I think I have come to love it for what it is. I will often actually wear it over a more opaque, less hydrating lipstick to add some shine and hydration. But it also is great on it’s own!
Julia is the one I like the most – probably the only one I’ll reach for on my own accord!
I noticed you wear it a lot in the “looks” and I love it on you Since we have similar coloring , I knew I would like it on me. You just look so gorgeous in anything. But ,I love having aa close skin tone match , lol.Arthur is growing on me. I bought it because the SA said the young gorgeous model in the summer promo pic was wearing it and I loved it..like its going to transorm me into some bronzed model thing..oh well. Lol.I am really digging Teheran. But it is reminding me of one of the new Tom Ford lip sheers from the summer collection. I can’t put my finger on which though. But.I am banned from my lippies for a weeks or two ! I think I got my retinol to close to my lips and omg..bad! Corners of my mouth are split, lips won’t quit peeling, lol! Not pretty! Ugh.gessh! 🙂
Your poor lips! I hope they heal up soon!
Thank you!
I quite like Teheran, not enough to buy it, as it’s not one of the colours that really goes with my colouring, but it is very pretty, so if I win the lottery, perhaps
I’ll just root for you to win 🙂
The last two are beautiful, but I’m at a complete loss with the first one. $36 for a lipstick that, when applied, appears to have less pigment than a tinted lip balm? To me, it’s not even what I would consider a lipstick. Comparing the side-by-side pictures of your lips without it and with it, I can’t even tell that it’s on your upper lip, and I can just barely see it on your lower lip (only because it hides your freckle a little). In the swatch and in the tube, it appears to have color, but it absolutely disappears on your lips.
While this particular formula isn’t supposed to be sheer or like a tinted lip balm (Rouge Coco Shines are more in that category), I think that many formulas are less distinct, so a tinted lip balm can still be similar to a lipstick and sheer lipstick exists at all price points (on purpose). I know many treat a sheer lipstick like they might a tinted lip balm and vice versa 🙂
Teheran looks so pretty on you!!
Thank you! 🙂
The shimmer makes both Teheran and Sari Dore super lovely. I think Teheran would definitely be my pick.
I agree – they definitely make them a little less dupable!
Teheran and Sari Dore look lovely coloured lipsticks, but Catherine is far too nude and sheer for me. Both these coloured lipsticks are entirely dupable for much cheaper products. Both those two lipsticks look lovely on you Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Shimmery lipstick just doesn’t do it for me at all. The metallic look and emphasis of lip lines doesn’t appeal. However, if we’re talking sparkly lipstick (or lipgloss for that matter) such as the Estée Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine range then I’m all over it! I’m drawn in like a moth to a flame. 😛
Easy skip for ya! 🙂
Teheran and Sari Dore looks really pretty on you! I’m usually not that big on this kind of finish but here it really works.
Thank you so much 🙂
Sari Dore is stunning!
Agreed!
Oof I’m loving Sari Dore – it seems pretty complex & the dupes are high-end. I basically can’t get enough orange!!
The finish makes it more interesting!
Teheran is really beautiful…it actually kind of reminds me of a less shimmery and less red version of the Maybelline Strike a Pose lipstick that I just purchased. Nice. 🙂
Ooh, awesome! Is that a new shade?
Tehran is very pretty, not sure I could pull it off but I like the finish.
