Chanel Audace (20) & Distinction (21) Rouge Allure Gloss Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Audace (20) Rouge Allure Gloss
Chanel Audace (20) Rouge Allure Gloss ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, warm-toned plum with fine gold shimmer. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on beautifully–the application was smooth and even, while the glossiness made lips appear plumper. The color lasted well for five and a half hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating over time. The formula is fairly lightweight with a creamy-gel-like feel with some tackiness. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) (P, $28.00) is browner, warmer. Maybelline Intoxicating Spice (070) (P, $8.99) is sheerer. MAC Looks Like Sin (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Chanel Distinction (21) Rouge Allure Gloss ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a cool-toned, dark berry-red with a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, but unlike Audace, it was difficult to apply evenly as the color tended to streak and settle into lip lines. The settling worsened as the gloss wore away, though it lasted for about five hours. The texture was lightly tacky, and it developed more tackiness after a few hours, but it feels more like a cream-gel hybrid and isn’t too thick on. NARS Shade III (LE, $26.00) is lighter. Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is darker, cooler-toned. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is sheerer. NARS Quito (P, $26.00) is sheerer. Chanel Tocade (182) (P, $29.50) is sheerer. Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is darker. MAC Lust for Life (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. Chanel Crushed Cherry (P, $29.50) is redder. NARS Penny Arcade (LE, $26.00) is lighter. MAC Colour Saturation (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ooo, girl!! Audace.. Could it? Would it work? My eyes are wide and drooling! (Sensitive lips, remember.. But I think these are safe. Hmmmmmmmmm.. You’re such a tease! 😉
Your natural lip color is probably going to alter it at least a bit!
I’m going to cry 🙁 Please recommend a luxurious feeling blue based red that will be like an Oxblood? A Burgundy wine red? I wish they made tiny ones. Possibly on eBay, I just need to know what to look for..
You said you had good luck with YSL, why not go that route? 🙂 I’m sure they have a deeper red in the range!
Ah.. Ha! Great idea! I never think of that! (I’m usually just at sephora, limited handful sold there), so yeah, I shall! Thank you! 😀
Everything you’re wearing as base, blush etc., included, all looks so perfectly flawless with your coloring! The Audace is my favorite addition to that, but you really look great with the combos you chose! I can’t believe how delightful the Caresse blush is glowing on you! I’m probably confusing things, but I thought you preferred Jersey? How are they different for you? 😀
Jersey shows up better on me, and it is less warm-toned 🙂 I like brown-ish blushes as they give me a slightly defined look without going true contour.
Yes! I agree, and understand, yet you’re wearing Caresse in this.. It looks just as lovely as the Jersey did and it confused me because it seemed warmer 😀
It’s probably because this is the day I received Caresse so it’s what was photographed and worn 🙂
Ah, ok! Well I think it looks perfect! 😀
Ooooh Audace looks so interesting! Likey likey!
Glad ya liked it!
Audace is lovely! 🙂 Very elegant and sophisticated. Distinction would have been awesome, but that streakines! Bad Chanel! 😛
I wish Distinction was more like Audace!
I’m loving Audace.
Yay!
The first one looks great!
It was!
Audace is gorgeous! My kind of color, with gold shimmer, too! I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any lipsticks or glosses for a while, but this one is tempting me
It is a great fall/winter shade in particular.
I was hoping Audace would be more of a pinky-brown, but it pulls more red on the lips than anything else. Still pretty, but not my style.
Oh, bummer! 🙁
Try it with Chanel Foudroyante lipstick—UNBELIEVABLE!!! The brown in it does come through.
Aw, that’s too bad about Distinction. I really like the color.
I hear ya!
I just picked up Distinction and while it isn’t the easiest to get good coverage, I haven’t had any trouble with it settling into lip lines–but then I don’t recall ever having that problem. Lucky I guess!
You are lucky for sure!
Audace
Have you tried the new formula?
I have Audace, I love it. I was wondering if I should buy another, as I heard it was limited edition though?
Chanel’s site lists it as LE!
Audace show up more purple/plum on my NC 50 complexion and I love that look for fall.
Awesome to hear, Wimberly!!
Oh, I love Audace! That is the shade family that I adore. Why do I keep seeing gorgeous things that aren’t on sale 😉
LOL! I have the same problem.
Audace became HG for me the minute I first applied it! It’s amazing for making my blue/green eyes pop and the stain left behind after it wears off is a perfect mlbb! I’ve already ordered a backup!
It’s really lovely, isn’t it?
Audace all the way here …and seems to be the general consensus so far lol. I have a YSL rouge volupte gloss/stain that I adore so I dont feel the need to stray much but its purdy !!
Audace definitely seems to be the fave, lol!
Oh my goodness, Audace is PERFECTION! <3
They did a great job on that shade!
Oooh, I’m really digging the look of Audace!
Me too!
I’m surprised at Distinction’s performance, given that the Glossimer range has a similar shade with much better pigmentation and application. Audace is lovely, though, if a tad too warm for me.
I was surprised!
Audace is really nice. I think it’s going to find a place with me. Too bad the other is soooooo streaky. What a let down.
Audace is the winner between these two hands down!
Audace is a beautiful colour! Distinction could have had a better texture.
I agree — Distinction needs some work!
I have Audace and I can’t stop wearing it. I never gloss w/o lipstick so I don’t find Distinction to be the disaster that you portray. Perhaps on bare lips it is…. I don’t know but it works well over lipstick—the way that I prefer to wear my gloss.
I like gloss over lipstick, but I prefer mine to work well both ways 😉 I’m greedy!
Both looks are great and I love the wine-ish color of the Distinction!
The color of Distinction is pretty!
Christine is there a dupe for Distinction in lipstick form? I prefer my bold lips to be matte, but that colour is gorgeous!

I think I might need Audace! Such a lovely color 😀
It is!
Audace is very pretty!
Agreed!
Ohmygod. Audace is too too gorgeous. It looks beautiful on you, Christine! Even though I probably have a dozen similar shades in various formulas from a whole range of brands, and also even though I went on a whole makeup binge about a month ago and I’m “not buying any more,” I think I have to go ORDER IT RIGHT NOW. I have a feeling it will be perfect with my Chanel Rose Ecrin blush. It’s almost as though I have no choice.
Aw, thank you Lauren! The formula of Audace is really nice.
Audace looks so pretty on you, think I’ll ask for that for Christmas! I’m paler than you are but, usually those kinds of warm colors work well on me. Alas I don’t think Distinction will work. Not a fan of that streakiness and I’m not patient enough to work with a lip color that much to get it even!
Hopefully Audace rocks it for ya!
How is Nar’s shade 3 a dupe? It’s olive eyeshadow! 😉
Noooope! 🙂 It’s also a gloss.
