Chanel Audace (20) Rouge Allure Gloss ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, warm-toned plum with fine gold shimmer. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on beautifully–the application was smooth and even, while the glossiness made lips appear plumper. The color lasted well for five and a half hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating over time. The formula is fairly lightweight with a creamy-gel-like feel with some tackiness. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) (P, $28.00) is browner, warmer. Maybelline Intoxicating Spice (070) (P, $8.99) is sheerer. MAC Looks Like Sin (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Chanel Distinction (21) Rouge Allure Gloss ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a cool-toned, dark berry-red with a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, but unlike Audace, it was difficult to apply evenly as the color tended to streak and settle into lip lines. The settling worsened as the gloss wore away, though it lasted for about five hours. The texture was lightly tacky, and it developed more tackiness after a few hours, but it feels more like a cream-gel hybrid and isn’t too thick on. NARS Shade III (LE, $26.00) is lighter. Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is darker, cooler-toned. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is sheerer. NARS Quito (P, $26.00) is sheerer. Chanel Tocade (182) (P, $29.50) is sheerer. Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is darker. MAC Lust for Life (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. Chanel Crushed Cherry (P, $29.50) is redder. NARS Penny Arcade (LE, $26.00) is lighter. MAC Colour Saturation (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ooo, girl!! Audace.. Could it? Would it work? My eyes are wide and drooling! (Sensitive lips, remember.. But I think these are safe. Hmmmmmmmmm.. You’re such a tease! 😉

Lotus Avatar

I’m going to cry 🙁 Please recommend a luxurious feeling blue based red that will be like an Oxblood? A Burgundy wine red? I wish they made tiny ones. Possibly on eBay, I just need to know what to look for..

Everything you’re wearing as base, blush etc., included, all looks so perfectly flawless with your coloring! The Audace is my favorite addition to that, but you really look great with the combos you chose! I can’t believe how delightful the Caresse blush is glowing on you! I’m probably confusing things, but I thought you preferred Jersey? How are they different for you? 😀

Lotus Avatar

Yes! I agree, and understand, yet you’re wearing Caresse in this.. It looks just as lovely as the Jersey did and it confused me because it seemed warmer 😀

Audace is gorgeous! My kind of color, with gold shimmer, too! I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any lipsticks or glosses for a while, but this one is tempting me

I just picked up Distinction and while it isn’t the easiest to get good coverage, I haven’t had any trouble with it settling into lip lines–but then I don’t recall ever having that problem. Lucky I guess!

Audace became HG for me the minute I first applied it! It’s amazing for making my blue/green eyes pop and the stain left behind after it wears off is a perfect mlbb! I’ve already ordered a backup!

I’m surprised at Distinction’s performance, given that the Glossimer range has a similar shade with much better pigmentation and application. Audace is lovely, though, if a tad too warm for me.

I have Audace and I can’t stop wearing it. I never gloss w/o lipstick so I don’t find Distinction to be the disaster that you portray. Perhaps on bare lips it is…. I don’t know but it works well over lipstick—the way that I prefer to wear my gloss.

Ohmygod. Audace is too too gorgeous. It looks beautiful on you, Christine! Even though I probably have a dozen similar shades in various formulas from a whole range of brands, and also even though I went on a whole makeup binge about a month ago and I’m “not buying any more,” I think I have to go ORDER IT RIGHT NOW. I have a feeling it will be perfect with my Chanel Rose Ecrin blush. It’s almost as though I have no choice.

Audace looks so pretty on you, think I’ll ask for that for Christmas! I’m paler than you are but, usually those kinds of warm colors work well on me. Alas I don’t think Distinction will work. Not a fan of that streakiness and I’m not patient enough to work with a lip color that much to get it even!
