Fyrinnae Mythical Dalliance Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a rosy copper that shifted to dirty gold to pink to yellower gold. It seemed to read more of a yellow, deeper gold with flecks of pink and gold sparkle most of the time to my eye (in person). The shift I saw in person was yellow gold to dirty plum to barely green-gold. Per the brand, it doesn’t have an “opaque base shade,” which is what it seemed–tons of shimmer and sparkle with more of a transparent base, though it wasn’t sheer. It was more semi-opaque when applied on its own and mostly opaque when applied on top of Pixie Epoxy; the brand “highly recommended” to use it with Pixie Epoxy as well.

The actual powder felt more textured as it contained larger particles and lots of them, but it was fairly easy to work with. I felt application was easiest and most foolproof using my fingertips or a wet brush. It applied evenly and adhered smoothly to my lid, though there was light to moderate fallout during application, so doing eyes first would be my recommendation. Once on, the eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours with light fallout over time.

Most of the shades had noticeable shift when swatched on my arm without having to strain myself to find the perfect angle and lighting source to see it. The latter was more the case with a few shades to get some of the more extreme shifts when the product was applied to my actual eye (lid space). The majority of shades have a creamier, denser, thicker consistency to them--they often felt packed with silicones (and dimethicone was typically the second ingredient, so it wasn't a surprise!) with some shades having a textured, uneven surface that was easily compacted into the pan. A few of those shades were harder to pick up later on and tended to work best with a wet brush or fingertips rather than dry brush.

Other shades were smoother, softer, and more forgiving--they felt more like typical powder eyeshadow. The shades with larger shimmer/sparkle had light to moderate fallout during application but had fairly good adhesion once on. Fyrinnae Symphonic Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) has a warmer, plummy purple that shifts to slightly less warm-toned purple to dirty gold to green to deeper green. It had an incredible shift that was easy to see on my arm, and I did pick up a lot of the dynamic on my lid but the actual colors appeared a bit more muted on my lid in practice. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too loosely or too firmly pressed in the pan. This was one of the easiest shades to use in the Exquisites’ pressed range, too. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Venus Sunset

Fyrinnae Venus Sunset Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) goes from a warm, rosy copper to a golden bronze to olive green to a brighter, chartreuse green paired with a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation applied dry as well as patted on top of Pixie Epoxy with the latter having a smoother, more sparkling finish and had less fallout during application. The texture was soft, a little drier to the touch (likely from all of the sparkles in it), but it was fairly blendable and picked up well with a brush or fingertip. The dominant shift that I saw in person was more of a warm, bronzy hue that sometimes looked reddish and occasionally had a green-gold vibe. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed fading.

Fyrinnae Reindeer Fur Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, soft, and blendable consistency that was a smidgen powdery in the pan. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and looked seamless with the smooth, shiny finish. It wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Fyrinnae Seattle Fog Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bright, light-medium lavender with strong, cool blue undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation its own, and I found that it didn’t play as well over Pixie Epoxy (almost too powdery). The consistency was soft, a smidgen powdery in the pan, but I had no trouble applying it or blending it out on my lid. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Fyrinnae Winter Sunrise Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, peachy-orange base that seemed to have a shift from warmer to cooler pink paired with a pearly sheen. It had a more reflective finish, but it didn’t seem metallic as it was smoother and a bit less shiny. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, though it needed to be built up for full coverage. It was opaque when applied over Pixie Epoxy. The consistency was soft, a little powdery but blendable and easy to work with. Fyrinnae Midnight Dreary Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a rich, vibrant blue with strong, cool undertones–almost to the point that it appeared purple–with a lightly sparkling, frosted finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color payoff in a single layer regardless of application method, though applying it over Pixie Epoxy gave it a smoother finish and made it appear brighter to m y eye. Fyrinnae Beyond This World Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) has a sheerer base with chunky, larger sparkles and shimmer to it that give it a warm, plummy color straight-on that shifts to copper to gold to slightly greenish-gold. In person, I felt like the most noticeable shift I caught (without contorting myself!) was a sparkling pink to a warmer gold along the edge.

The brand specifically stated that this particular shade “does not have an opaque base shade” and that a “sticky base is highly recommended” due to having “large particle sparkle.” The texture was drier, chunkier, and much, much harder to work with across the board–it had a lot of fallout, was difficult to lay down evenly, and it was a struggle to blend it without getting more fallout.

It’s definitely apt that it needs a tacky base, so I appreciate the brand’s transparency about it; I tried it with Pixie Epoxy (which is the brand’s tacky base), and it improves the application significantly, though it’s still a fussy shade to work with. I could actually see this being better in a loose version (which exists but I haven’t tried). It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably, though there was a bit of fallout over time (even when tested over Pixie Epoxy).

Most of the shades had noticeable shift when swatched on my arm without having to strain myself to find the perfect angle and lighting source to see it. The latter was more the case with a few shades to get some of the more extreme shifts when the product was applied to my actual eye (lid space). The majority of shades have a creamier, denser, thicker consistency to them--they often felt packed with silicones (and dimethicone was typically the second ingredient, so it wasn't a surprise!) with some shades having a textured, uneven surface that was easily compacted into the pan. A few of those shades were harder to pick up later on and tended to work best with a wet brush or fingertips rather than dry brush.

Other shades were smoother, softer, and more forgiving--they felt more like typical powder eyeshadow. The shades with larger shimmer/sparkle had light to moderate fallout during application but had fairly good adhesion once on. The majority of shades were very pigmented on their own, but some definitely were best applied wet, with a fingertip, or applied over a tacky base (some shades explicitly say to use a tacky base with them). They wore between eight and nine hours on me with no to light fallout.

Chaotic Nebula

Fyrinnae Chaotic Nebula Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) begins as a sparkling green with a slightly reddish-bronze base and shifts to a bluish-violet to a plum to a brighter, pinkish lavender. Most of the time, it looked like this complex (chaotic? eh?) mix of murky, olive bronze base with twinkles of green and red. It was a struggle to see much of the shift in person for me; I could get the subtle shift to deeper red-bronze and slightly purplish-bronze but I didn’t get much in the way of violet.

The texture of this was difficult to work with; it felt like it compressed more and more into the pan every time I used it, which just made it even harder to pick up the next time I wanted to try it. The brand noted that it “will require a sticky base” and that the loose version might actually be “easier to work with.” They also stated that it should be applied by “fingertip, a very firm brush, or stiff silicone applicator.” Brushes were pretty poor with this product, regardless of type of bristle, shape, or density, and I tried using brushes damp, which didn’t make things better. The very first use–as it looked applied to my arm–was when it was at its best, but the pan seemed to harden over time, which made subsequent use sheerer and stiffer.

Fingertip application was the only way to go in my experience, and I actually didn’t like it over Pixie Epoxy, as I felt like it was still rather uneven in application over it. I had the best luck over a regular eyeshadow primer and applying my fingertip, which helped the product apply more smoothly (while my fingertip kept most of the would-be fallout). It was so-so over bare skin, and I had mixed results as I ended up applying this shade half a dozen times just to see what might be the best way to use it. On its own, applied with a fingertip, the product lasted for eight hours with light fallout over time.

Once applied, the actual powder emphasized my lid texture, though I think in person, it had so much dimension and complexity, it ended up being more impressive than it actually sounds written. It’s a genuinely interesting shade and not something I’ve personally come across before; even though the multichromatic shift was weaker, it ended up having so many layers straight-on that it was still just as intriguing as the whole concept of multichromes (at least to me). I just loathed the texture and found it a pain to apply. It can’t be worn on its own as it blends out so poorly along the edge that it looked jagged, dry, and bumpy, so it had to be helped along with something else in the crease area to give the illusion of evenness.

Fyrinnae has some really spectacular pressed powder eyeshadows in the arsenal, so I know that they can nail the texture and give interesting, complex shades that are still user-friendly and go on great. I’m definitely curious to try out the loose version of this shade to see if it is easier to work with.

Fyrinnae Alpaca Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium bronze with subtle, warm undertones and a bright, metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth consistency that wasn’t too firmly nor too loosely pressed in the pan, so I didn’t have any issues with fallout but it was still easy to pick up with a dry brush and blend out on my lid. I didn’t feel like it really needed or benefited from Pixie Epoxy as far as application went. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Fyrinnae Deionychus Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a rich, medium grass green with warmer, olive undertones and slightly cooler green shimmer. It had good color coverage applied dry, though the texture was a little drier and felt more loosely-pressed, so it did not go on as evenly applied dry. It did smooth out and have richer coverage when applied over Pixie Epoxy or when applied with a wet brush. I had light fallout during application, but I was able to build up the coverage (dry) and blending was a cinch. It wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Fyrinnae Elf Owl Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium olive green with warm undertones and a sparkling, more glittery finish. It had good pigmentation applied dry over bare skin as well as over Pixie Epoxy, and as expected, Pixie Epoxy helped it apply more evenly and smoothly with less effort. When applied dry, I had to be careful to rpess and pat it onto my lid to avoid fallout and ensure a smoother application as the texture seemed to be a little drier to the touch. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me but had light fallout over time.

Fyrinnae Feline Pretty Femme Pressed Eyeshadow ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a rich, deeper pink-red with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. Fyrinnae Illusionary Arcane Magic Pressed Eyeshadow ($8.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a dirty lavender with a cooler, grayish base and a mix of lavender, green, and pink shimmer throughout. I didn’t get as much noticeable shift as I did shimmer/light sparkle that looked greener and pinker depending on the angle. It’s actually described as being on a “semi-sheer dove gray” base, which was accurate–it was semi-sheer and had to be built up over a tacky primer to get to more opaque coverage.

The texture felt more loosely pressed, which gave it a bit of fallout during application. It applied fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, but the more frosted finish coupled with the sheerer coverage looked better in person than photos–in photos, it looked a bit uneven. The color stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was easy to apply, blend out, and work with. A little went a long way, and the finish was so reflective that it appeared seamless and more “melted” against my skin as a result. Fyrinnae Fantasy Creatures Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) often appeared as a bright, gold-green with flecks of richer, cooler green sparkle and shimmer throughout, and then it shifted to a golden bronze to lavender to pale pink. If one could capture the shades of spring and put them in one eyeshadow, this is what it would look like.

While a lot of multichromes can be quite interesting and complex when swatched, they tend to lose a significant amount of that complexity on the lid as it’s a smaller space and ends up easier for someone else to see the shift on you than on yourself (and even then, it’s not necessarily easy to detect the shifts at the more extreme ends). This shade shifted from warmer gold to the cooler green flecks catching the light to looking slightly pinkish along the edge when I checked for shifts in most lighting–I didn’t have to go hunting to catch it. To get it to turn more lavender-mauve-pink, it was at certain angles and lighting but was noticeable.

The texture was uneven on the actual surface of the pan, which was noted by the brand, though the actual eyeshadow went on quite smoothly. It felt drier, almost flaky, so there was light to moderate fallout during application, depending on the method–fingertips and wet brushes yielded the least fallout.

It had opaque pigmentation applied dry as well as when applied over Pixie Epoxy or with a wet brush. The cooler tone of the green shimmer came through more noticeably when applied over a tacky base or with a wet brush. This shade was recommended, by the brand, to be used with a tacky base. I actually found I preferred application with a wet brush, as it helped give me smoother application with minimal fallout but retained all the blendability of a dry eyeshadow (sometimes tacky bases can make it harder to blend out the edges). The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight and a half hours with a touch of fallout over time.

Most of the shades had noticeable shift when swatched on my arm without having to strain myself to find the perfect angle and lighting source to see it. The latter was more the case with a few shades to get some of the more extreme shifts when the product was applied to my actual eye (lid space). The majority of shades have a creamier, denser, thicker consistency to them--they often felt packed with silicones (and dimethicone was typically the second ingredient, so it wasn't a surprise!) with some shades having a textured, uneven surface that was easily compacted into the pan. A few of those shades were harder to pick up later on and tended to work best with a wet brush or fingertips rather than dry brush.

Other shades were smoother, softer, and more forgiving--they felt more like typical powder eyeshadow. The shades with larger shimmer/sparkle had light to moderate fallout during application but had fairly good adhesion once on. The majority of shades were very pigmented on their own, but some definitely were best applied wet, with a fingertip, or applied over a tacky base (some shades explicitly say to use a tacky base with them). They wore between eight and nine hours on me with no to light fallout.

Fyrinnae Stained Glass Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a multichrome that primarily looks like a smoky, emerald green over a blackened base, and then it shifts to a stronger, blackened green to muted, bluish-violet to a brighter, medium-dark violet purple that stretched to a warmer plum at the very extreme edge of the shift (almost impossible for me to see on myself but the last photo captured it).

As a multichrome, the shift is most noticeable when the product is applied to a larger area or an area that has more curves (like the inner tearduct). Applied to my lid, it showed as a deeper, smokier color that I could see shift from a deep green to a subdued purple (almost grayish). I think with such a prominent black base, the shift didn’t show as dramatically on my lid as it did swatched.

It had rich pigmentation applied dry or over Pixie Epoxy (or used with a wet brush or fingertips). I find that fingertip and wet brush application gave it a more intense, smoother, and more reflective finish, though. The texture was moderately dense without being too thick or heavy, so it was easy to pick up with a dry brush and applied without much fallout. It wore well for nine hours on me before creasing faintly.

Most of the shades had noticeable shift when swatched on my arm without having to strain myself to find the perfect angle and lighting source to see it. The latter was more the case with a few shades to get some of the more extreme shifts when the product was applied to my actual eye (lid space). The majority of shades have a creamier, denser, thicker consistency to them--they often felt packed with silicones (and dimethicone was typically the second ingredient, so it wasn't a surprise!) with some shades having a textured, uneven surface that was easily compacted into the pan. A few of those shades were harder to pick up later on and tended to work best with a wet brush or fingertips rather than dry brush.

Other shades were smoother, softer, and more forgiving--they felt more like typical powder eyeshadow. The shades with larger shimmer/sparkle had light to moderate fallout during application but had fairly good adhesion once on. The majority of shades were very pigmented on their own, but some definitely were best applied wet, with a fingertip, or applied over a tacky base (some shades explicitly say to use a tacky base with them). They wore between eight and nine hours on me with no to light fallout.

Edge of Space

Fyrinnae Edge of Space Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium purple with warmer, reddish undertones and cooler blue-violet shimmer and larger sparkle as the dominant color. It shifted to slightly cooler, bluish-violet over a silvery taupe to a warm plum. As a multichrome, the shift is most noticeable when the product is applied to a larger area or an area that has more curves (like the inner tearduct). The shimmer in this shade made it appear more dimensional regardless of how and where it shifted. The shift was visible to my eye in certain lighting (usually lower light), but it was less dramatic than some of the other Exquisites in the line.

The texture was noticeably bumpy on the surface of the product, which the brand actually warned about (“due to the main colorant ingredient being large particle sparkle, which doesn’t consistently press as evenly as smaller particle size blends”) but felt more loosely-pressed, drier, and more prone to excess product getting kicked up in the pan.

There was moderate fallout when applied with a dry brush, even when I was mindful to minimize the fallout by pressing gently onto my lid. It applied better with a fingertip, wet brush, or applied over a tacky base (like the brand’s Pixie Epoxy). The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation regardless of application method, as the method/base helped more for general smoothness and avoiding fallout. I found it was workable with a wet brush to get more opaque coverage that applied smoothly to my lid and had minimal fallout during application and over time. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing very faintly.

Fyrinnae Idolize Exquisites Pressed Eyeshadow ($14.50 for 0.07 oz.) has a dominant coloring of medium-dark, slightly cooler purple that can lean warmer and cooler depending on the light. It shifted from more violet purple to warmer purple to true plum to copper to warmer green.

It was incredibly challenging to actually see the green shift in person, especially on my lid; I could only detect it when looking down and holding a mirror much higher over my eye. I asked my husband to look for it (as it’s easier for someone looking at your eyelids to detect it), and he insisted there was absolutely no green anything happening. I definitely saw a good range of shift from cooler, blackened purple to brighter, shimmery violet to warmer plum (with a hint of brown/bronze). I did not think that it shifted any more noticeable when applied over a black base (I used an eyeliner).

The texture was smooth, dense without being too thick, and one of the easier shades to work with in the pressed Exquisites range. The eyeshadow applied well with a dry brush, wet brush, or fingertips, and it did not need a primer or tacky base to work well (some of the shades in this formula are explicitly recommended to be applied over a tacky base). It had rich pigmentation that adhered evenly to my lid without fallout during application. The color stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing very faintly.
