Burberry Holiday 2017 Liquid Lip Velvet Set Review, Photos, Swatches
Holiday 2017
Burberry Holiday 2017 Liquid Lip Velvet Set ($45.00 for 0.52 oz.) includes four, miniature-sized liquid lipsticks. I’m a huge fan of the formula–it’s pigmented, long-wearing, and comfortable to wear. The “downside” is the brand claims they last for eight hours, and they tend to last between six and eight hours on average. I found the formula of the shades included in the set to be consistent with their full-sized counterparts that I’ve reviewed in the past (so I did not retest for wear time but ratings reflect the set’s versions for pigmentation, texture, and so forth). Keep in mind, the formula does not have a flat, matte dry down–they have a light sheen that wears down to a satin-to-matte finish after a few hours of wear.
Value
A full-sized Liquid Lip Velvet retails for $34.00 and contains 0.20 fl. oz. or costs $170.00/fl. oz. The set contains $88.40 worth of product.

LELimited Edition. $45.00.
Fawn Rose
Fawn Rose is a soft, muted pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, mousse-like consistency that was easy to spread across the lips. It wore well for five hours and was comfortable to wear.

Formula Overview
$34.00/0.2 oz. - $170.00 Per Ounce
The Liquid Lip Velvet formula is described as having “rich pigment, smooth application” and a “velvet finish that lasts up to eight hours” that is “non-drying.” Overall, the formula is fantastic for those who want the fluidity of a liquid product without the drying aspect of more traditional liquid lipsticks while not sacrificing wear time. The formula does not dry down completely, so there will be transfer, but the product is so pigmented that the color lasts awhile.
I’ve found the colors to wear between six and eight hours and easily survive a solid meal. The liquid lipstick has a smooth, velvety consistency that is almost weightless (I forget I’m wearing it) that was never drying and always comfortable to wear. A pleasant surprise was that the formula was unscented (with no discernible taste either), which is not the norm with Burberry’s products.

Magenta (33)
Magenta (33) is a vibrant, medium-dark fuchsia-red with warmer undertones and a satin sheen. The color payoff was nearly opaque, while the consistency was lightweight, smooth, and spread nicely across the lips with an airy, mousse-like feel. I had a touch of color that pulled into my lip lines, though the brightness of the color made it hard to see from a normal viewing distance. This shade wore for eight hours, left a stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Regiment Red (37)
Regiment Red (37) is a rich, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It was richly pigmented and had a mousse-like, airy texture that felt ultra lightweight on and was comfortable to wear for the seven hours it lasted for. There was very minor color in my deeper lip lines but that wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance.

These look divine and so reasonably priced. All with work for me except Rose Fawn though a good lip liner should fix that. Beautiful set. On the wishlist it goes!
I bet you could even mix it with another shade since they have a mousse-like texture!
If ever there has been a very tempting holiday lipstick set this season, this is it! And yet, I will most likely pass. Between having great dupes for my 2 favorite shades, Magenta and Oxblood, and knowing that Fawn Rose would be too light for me considering that MAC Mmmmmm looks on me exactly how Fawn Rose looks on you. I will, however, be checking out Regiment Red and some of its dupes! That shade is 5 alarm hot!
Aww, darn!!
I was thinking about getting this set for my daughter but not sure about the first shade. She is medium skin toned and I don’t think that light shade will work for her. I think she could wear the other 3. I wonder if I opened it and gave her just the 3 as stocking stuffers? Maybe, we’ll see. I know that brands usually try to provide shades that are varied but neither my daughter or I can wear those light shades, nude shades, white based shades.
Would be a great idea to give three as stocking stuffers and keep the other one for someone who can! 🙂
Hmm. I already have Oxblood, but I like the formula enough that I may get this for the other shades!
Very nice! I like all the colors and always wanted to try Burberry makeup. I may pick this one up!
Def maybe. This is a great deal. Wish I had s.o. to split it with!
I’m so happy I got this kit! It’s so well done! Thank you for your review.
My pleasure, Karen! Hope you love yours.
Pass. The only color I remotely like is Magenta.
Hi Christine, how do these compare to Colourpop’s Ultra Satin lips? Thanks!
Ultra Satins have a completely different texture, dry down, and feel on the lips!
This has been on my list of maybe this year, I’m just not sure Fawn Rose or Regiment Red would work for me.
this is the one luxury lip set I want and the price is perfect!
