Burberry Festive Illuminating Powder & Illuminating Drops Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Silver Shimmer
Burberry Silver Shimmer Illuminating Powder ($68.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a cool, grayish white base with warmer, golden shimmer, which yielded a more frosted sheen. The texture gave a noticeable sheen to the skin without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture.
It’s supposed to have “buildable, luminous color.” It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was buildable to full coverage, and with a soft, silky texture, it was easy to apply less or more with a brush to adjust the coverage level. The powder was easy to apply and to blend out, which made it effortless in practice. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me.

Metallic Pearl No. 1
Burberry Metallic Pearl No. 1 Illuminating Drops ($35.00 for 0.50 oz.) is a pale, white gold with a nearly translucent base and fine, gold pearl. It’s supposed to have a “blendable” and “buildable” texture with that can be used for “subtle shine” on “high points of the face.” However, it’s also a “concentrated formula” with “concentrated pigments for a customisable glow.”
It’s a subtle, liquid-based highlighter that has a very smooth, watery, gel-like texture that is easy to pat on with fingertips or a sponge for even coverage that did not disturb base products. The coverage was semi-sheer, while the brand’s description of the formula said “buildable texture” and “concentrated pigments,” which suggests buildable with respect to the level of shine/shimmer but not necessarily the color itself. I think if you like sheerer highlighters, you’ll enjoy it, but if you wanted something more pigmented, you’ll find this missing coverage. On me, it lasted for eight hours.

I really like the look of that powder, looks like a great way to make silver work on my yellow-olive skin without looking too harsh. It doesn’t seem to be on the UK website though, so I hope we get it at some point.
Just bought the powder in store at Sephora. It is soooo beautiful, and completely unique in my collection.
I don’t even like the colour all that much (but, hey, I could “force” myself to use it) but the presentation is so darned pretty. I just love bows like that!
I will call it Gilver… I love that powder!
Nooo! I waited for the review but I was hoping it wouldn’t get a good grade… And here’ an A! Now I simply have to get it lol. (I also wanna get it because it’ll pair nicely with golden Whisper of Gilt that just arrived at my doorstep.) However I feel it’s quite unique in the sea of highlighters that has been released this year – it’s still quite hard to find a cool one.
Christine, in your opinion how does it compare to Metal Moon from Fenty Beauty?

As lovely as these look, I will probably get either Coloured Raine No Flash Needed or MUR Golden Lights. I prefer a noticeable shift to a duochrome type of highlighter. The Burberry powder version is gorgeous, though!
And… I was dead wrong in my comment above. Just went back and re-read the reviews on those 2 I said I liked better, and no. No, I don’t. But I do have Fenty Metal Moon and e.l.f. Gotta Glow, so I suppose I’m set.
I really wanted to pick this up during the 20% off sale, because I don’t have a silvery highlighter, but it seems to have disappeared from the Sephora Canada website. (At least, the powder version has.) It’s weird, because they still have the Silk & Bloom palette from the spring. 🙁
Beautiful!! But…I will purchase the $6 dupe instead. I do love my luxury products though!
What a stunning colour! It does come off a bit more silver (or is that just my monitor?!) either ways, I can’t wait to see more of the holiday collections
When I read silver, I immediately though of a dupe of Chanel Camelia Des Plumes. I really wanted that one! But it’s not in the dupe list… Do you think they’re close? Thanks!
I wouldn’t say those two are really close. The burberry pulls more silver grey and has a gold shine. Camélia has fine sparkles and is very white based, no colour shift at all.
I also hoped for a dupe when I saw the pictures at first but no… I stay on the look out as I use Camélia every week and will at some point use it up!
I’ve never seen anything like this Burberry highlighter shade —
grayish-gold duochrome. Very interesting. But, I couldn’t pull it off, that’s for sure. You’ve reminded me to use my Camelia. She’s been neglected for awhile.
It is quite unique indeed! I wonder which skintone it would flatter ?.
This is the perfect season to restart using Camélia! I am sure you will fall in love all over again ?.
I hope this message gets to you. Tarababyz just posted a picture of the Chanel Le Signe du Lion. This is what she wrote:
tarababyzChanel Le Signe du Lion ? if you’ve ever wanted to have Camelia de Plumes, the new Le Signe du Lion is a dupe ? #chanel more
I think it’s a Chanel.com exclusive. I just checked the website and it’s available. $70
Anne you are just to kind!! ?
I will compare swatches!! I think it also is a Chanel website exclusive in Europe… Otherwise I would go straight to a counter! I will check that out just in case!
Thanks again for letting me know ?
Marie-Estelle, I remembered your comment, but I couldn’t remember where you made it, lol. Age, what can I say? I’m going to bet it’s the same formula! (Dior bought out Glowing Gardens and then the permanent product. Same kinda thing, I suppose.) Tara is pretty good at dupes — she has such a collection, I guess it’s easy for her! Anyway, your welcome! Hope it works for you.
I love the packaging but I don’t think the color will suit my skin tone.
Wow, that powder is pretty, but $68? Not for me.
Ooh, so unusual! It’s nice to see a brand take a risk and do something unique. On the other hand, it’s a little too high-maintenance for me. Like others, I was hoping for a Camelia Des Plumes dupe!
The powder is the kind of product that I would never wear but in the past would buy it for the beauty of it. I have precious grand babies to buy for, for Christmas so I will forgo this. (The bow! I love bows!)
