Bite Beauty Rose Gold/Fig Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Rose Gold/Fig Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo
Bite Beauty Rose Gold/Fig Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a well-paired set of shades, as it creates a warm, rosy lip that can be shimmery or satin-like, depending on whether you layer the two shades. I liked both shades, and I felt Fig was consistent with the permanent version I had in wear and color.
Each of the Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duos includes one shimmery shade and one cream shade. The cream shade is part of the permanent range of Amuse Bouche lipsticks. Per the brand’s description, the shimmery shade is supposed to be a “foiled top coat,” though you can wear either shade on its own. I love that Bite has really affordable options during the holidays; I think these are a great way to try the brand’s Amuse Bouche formula, but they’re fitting with the holiday season in a fun, practical way. I had no issues with stability of the smaller-sized lipsticks when applying directly from the tube either, which can be an issue with minis.

Rose Gold had a soft, rose-tinted translucent base with copper, flecks of pink, and gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish overall. The consistency felt surprisingly smooth despite having a distinct shimmer and metallic sheen on the lips. The formula was thinner but did not feel drying over time, which is something I’ve typically experienced, so that was a nice surprise! The shimmer covered evenly, so it was possible to wear it on its own. It had semi-sheer, moderately buildable coverage, which made it work well as a top coat over Fig (or any other shade). It wore well for four hours on its own, and I didn’t notice any shimmer/sparkle migrate beyond my lips over time. MAC Just Beaming (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Gel (P, $19.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay 3rd Degree (P, $18.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). KVD Beauty Thunderstruck (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Fig is a light-medium, rosy pink with warmer, yellow undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly, though it slightly emphasized my lip lines as some color settled there after an hour or so of wear. Rose Gold is really pretty, but I think Fig is too light and pinky for me, will need to check out in store to see if it will work or not
Fingers crossed! 🙂
That rose gold is calling me! I love a sheer sparkle.
It is pretty!
I LOVE the Amuse Bouche formula and the Rose Gold looks SO PRETTY, but I have held off buying this so far because I already have Fig (same goes for the Bronze/Pepper duo). I will probably just cave and buy the duos, but I am hoping they release the shimmers by themselves at some point!
I think they could definitely do with adding the shimmers to the permanent line!
Yes!!! My thoughts exactly!
Hi Christine, I’m a long-time fan – sorry if you get this question a lot but I tried looking through your FAQs and all your review posts and couldn’t find the info! What is the difference between the first and second lip swatch pictures? For instance, for Fig, we get a general arm swatch, then two lip swatches before your face. One lip swatch looks a bit more mattified than the other, but I can’t really tell what you’ve done . Something with the camera/lighting maybe? I’ve always been curious 🙂
Hi Stephanie!
The first one is in direct light, and the second one is indirect light – like standing in the sun vs. standing in the shade.
So THAT’S what it is!!! For months and months now I thought it was the product immediately after you applied it, then the second picture was of it 8 hrs later. X’D I don’t know where I got that idea… makes more sense now!
I used to just do direct light, but it can be a little brighter as a result (than “in real life” at all times) – but I find indirect light doesn’t show texture/finish as well so I just include both now 🙂
Yes, I’m picking this up next. I have two of the other duos and like them both.
Yay!
I had issues with last year’s holiday duos breaking on me; specifically Latte in the Latte/Cortado duo, and that was like my favorite shade 🙁 I bought one of the dupes though, Laura Mercier Cinnful, and one of the possible dupes, Mac Velvet Teddy. I like Cinnful a lot, and I like the color of Velvet Teddy but it makes my lips look really wrinkly 🙁 Lol sorry this was kind of a huge tangent!
But I’ll still probably be picking these up because omg soooo beautiful.
It drives me nuts when they break! I didn’t have that issue with the Bite duos this year, thankfully – here’s hoping you do not either!
It’s rather too bad that you never get free choice with what to wear, but everything looks so wonderful, that each one seems better than the last. You may have personal preferences, but I am always astonished at how fabulous every, any color looks on you.
Ah, well, it is good to hear since goodness knows what I might wear out in public each day 😉
Ooooooh, the Rose Gold is so pretty… and the Fig is so pretty, but is light enough and warm enough that it will probably totally wash me out… if I’m really lucky, maybe my local Sephora will have testers on these. They usually don’t, though!
I hope you can find them 🙂
Do you feel that the effect of the Rose Gold on top of Fig comes off more in person than in the pictures? In the pictures, it’s very “barely there,” but sometimes it’s hard for cameras to capture the real effect of glitter/shimmer/foil.
I think it’s there – I get a definite shimmer/sheen finish, but it is more subtle than it is BOOM! in your face.
Love, goes straight on my wishlist.
Awesome!
I’ve been waiting to see your review on tihs particular shade combo – Rose Gold looks like the 90s lip shade gone wild, but I love fig! I’m not impressed with how it swatches so I think I’ll pass for the full-size Fig instead!
Sounds like a plan!
Oh gosh, I love this pairing! ❤
Although I have that MAC lipstick with the golden shift on a rosy base from the Star Trek collex: WNMHGB. Not sure if this might be a bit redundant on my part if I got this one too?
I kind of think you don’t need it if you already have that lipstick by MAC, Nancy!
Great question! I was thinking the same thing.
Not sure if it will work for me but I still want it!
I think it could!
I like the Rose Gold, but think the Sour Cherry duo is more striking and a better choice for me.
If you layer, I find the Gold/Rose Gold differences get muted quite a bit!
