ColourPop Studio 1400 Super Shock Shadow Set
ColourPop Studio 1400 Super Shock Shadow Set ($18.00 for 0.28 oz.) includes four cream eyeshadows. You can also purchase the shades individually if all four do not appeal to you. I’ve always liked the Super Shock Shadow formula, because when it’s good, it’s really good–pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable. They are a cream formula, and I find it works best with flat, synthetic brushes over fluffier brushes, though I’ll use a fluffier brush for crease work or blending.
Donna is a rich, medium-dark emerald green with a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fully opaque, while the eyeshadow had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that felt spongy, thin, but remained opaque on the lid when applied with a flat, synthetic brush. It lasted for ten hours on me. Moira Cosmos (P, $7.50) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). KVD Beauty Scarab (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). Urban Decay Indo (DC, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). Make Up For Ever S238 Blue Cedar (DC, $17.00) is lighter (90% similar). 8 Track is a medium-dark olive brown with subtle, warmer undertones and a fine, metallic sheen. It had excellent color payoff with a smooth, lightly emollient consistency–it felt wetter to the touch than other Super Shock Shadows–but applied beautifully to the lid with even coverage. It wore well for ten hours without creasing or fading on me. bareMinerals Spectacular (P, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Sumptuous Olive (P, $17.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Tisse d'Automne #1 (P, ) is lighter (90% similar). Estee Lauder Metal Saffron (LE, ) is warmer (90% similar). White Rabbit is a muted, medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. This shade had a few larger sparkles to it than the other shades, which were more pearlized. The consistency was smooth, lightly emollient, and blended out nicely on the skin. I didn’t notice any fading or creasing after a ten-hour period. Huda Beauty Blood Moon (PiP, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Huda Beauty Caramel Brown #2 (PiP, ) is warmer (95% similar). Anastasia Henna (P, $12.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Oh damn, this WHOLE set got an A+ ?? On my buy list
ColourPop wears SOOO well, and I think their pearlized/metallic ones tend to really shine. The mattes can miss, and their glitters can get chunky, but the pearl/metallic is their zone.
What a gorgeous set! Reminds me of Christmas for sure! Really glad one can buy them individually too! I just bought from Colourpop so I’ll have to wait.
It does! I can see a little holiday inspiration but not overtly holiday/Christmas.
How exciting to see an A+ for a set! Colourpop does it again!
Haha, it is rare!
Wow, what a lovely eye look you did with those! I’m curious–what kind of lip do you think would look best with it?
I haven’t ordered from Colourpop in quite a while, but I’m thinking it might be time once again. These shadows are stellar.
I like a coral/peach lip with this, since it is warmer on me overall, but something even more subtle like a sheer gloss with some pink or gold shimmer in it would work.
The only shade I don’t really need here is Donna, because I do have UD Damaged. But I have a good friend who doesn’t have much makeup anymore, so I think she’d love a good green! But 8 Track, Static and White Rabbit, though!
Nice that you can find a taker for Donna 😉
Wow. So pretty and pigmented. Just what I expect from ColourPop!
Very pigmented!
Every time I turn around ColourPop is releasing another set of shadows that I really love and this set is no exception. I haven’t purchased anything since the last Kathleen Lights collab so I think this might be a good choice for me. I do have crepy eyelids and some of ColourPop’s shadows do accentuate that texture but others have worked just fine. I know that if I pull the shadow to close to my inner eye where I have the most crepe then it is worse so I usually try to keep the shadow more to the outer 2/3 of my lid and just use a matte highlighter for the inner 1/3. The eye looks are stunning, as usual. Again, you are so talented and artistic.
Do you have any of the more Pearlized shades, Deborah? I find these are similar to those – and if you like the KathleenLights pearly shades, I think these are similar in finish.
I love the look you did with these colors!!!
Thanks, Kara!
Omg, even for CP, this is phenomenal! And there are dupes on my wish list. Better get one for me, and one for, you guessed it, Donna! Tad with conversion for CP!
It’s a really cool set of shades – definitely a little different.
OH…MY…GOSH!!! I’m going to try and be good(and not get this). GAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
You can do it!
The colors are nice but I don’t like how they look together.
Bummer! Well, they are available individually and even when you buy the “quad,” they’re individual pots so you can always mix and match with other shades!
I seriously love 8 Track! I like Donna and Static a lot, too, even though they’re probably not the most flattering colors for me. Hmmm…
8 Track has such a neat tone to it! I love the finish.
Yes! I think 8 Track means it’s time for me to check my list wish to see what else I want from Colour Pop!
Super tempted to get Donna (it’s my mom’s name!). It’s really pretty!
It is!
I am definitely at least getting Donna! I have direct dupes for White Rabbit and 8 Track, and I’m sure I have a ton of shadows similar to Static, but I kind of wish I didn’! Four A+ shadows, each only $5? That just can’t be beat. But I don’t have anything like Donna, so I have to get it. It’s so stunning.
Donna is a cool shade!
Please review the ColourPop X Hello Kitty collection when it comes out! Thank you for this review.
No problem!
OMG, I’m going to be STALKING that ColourPopxHello Kitty collection! My two FAVE things together, it’s like a dream come true. I’m going to pounce on it, and grab everything I can get my greedy little paws on
Wow, these are beautiful! And straight A+’s across the board, that’s rare. Static reminds me of Porter, white rabbit reminds me of weenie, and 8 track looks like nillionaire without the pink/purple glitter. I think they’re similar to previous/current CP shades, but in their pearlized finish (which happens to be my favorite!)
Ummm, Static.
🙂
White Rabbit is very beautiful and actually an excellent song from Jefferson Airplane which I love.
It is a great song, too!
This is going on my buy list.
Yay!
I couldn’t find this set on Colour Pop’s website. Is it out yet?
What a pretty set this is! I made a promise to myself after my last order from Colour Pop not to buy anything from the US again. Customs and the post office fee makes it annoying, not the customs as much as the post fee, I can’t even begin to imagine how it can come to about $17, what little labout the post has with this can’t possibly make it so expensive.
I can buy for about $30 without getting hit by additional expences, but then there’s quite an expensive shipping cost.
I’ll probably buy from Colour Pop again after I forget how annoyed I get every time I have to pay the extras 🙂
Gorgeous eye look Christine! You’re a artist!
These colors are absolutely gorgeous and perfect for fall! I’ve read, though, that Colour Pop recommends applying some of their eyeshadows with your fingers rather than with brushes, which sounds…. kind of strange? I don’t think I’ve applied anything with my fingers since high school, save for the one time I forgot my blush brush while travelling. Have you ever done it? Does it work?
