Best Products of the Week | Vol. 358

Hope your weekend is starting off on the right note! Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed.

What was your week in review like? Copy and paste the lil’ survey below and share your answers in the comments 🙂

  • Your skin tone/coloring:
  • What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?:
  • What was the hero product of the week for you?:
  • Any products you want to use next week?:

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, almost-black hair with natural silver highlights

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?
• EYES: I primed with NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer, then used Skimp from UD Naked2 Basics as a transition shade. For the rest of the look I used the UD Naked3 Mini palette (Laced Up on inner lid blended into Right Time on outer lid and crease, Spiced on outer V, Glassy on inner corner), Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Pencil in Graphite to line upper lid, UD 24/7 in Mushroom on bottom outer third of lash line, Sephora 12HR Colorful Contour Pencil in Coconut on bottom waterline, Cover Girl Clump Crusher Waterproof Mascara, Benefit Goof Proof in Grey to fill in brows, and Benefit Precisely My Brow in Grey to define the brow tails.
• FACE: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup in Sand, Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Buff, Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in Light, MAC Glow Play Blush in Blush Please.
• LIPS: YSL Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick in 311 Released Nude

What was the hero product of the week for you? YSL Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick in 311 Released Nude because it worked well with my Invisalign, which makes wearing lipstick challenging. The only negative is the shape of the actual lipstick. Square looks cool, but it’s not easy to use.

Any products you want to use next week? MAC Paint Pot in Painterly. Years ago, a MAC SA convinced me that Soft Ochre was the right shade for me. But I rarely used it because it seemed so yellow on me, so yesterday I bought Painterly and tried it out this morning…it’s perfect!

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: Since I was pretty much out of commission last Saturday with lower back/right hip pain and consumed with getting to meet my new kitty Cole and get him home, here’s my favorite look for the week previous! It’s what I wore to the Duran Duran concert:
Eyes: MAC Orb browbone, PML Rose Seduction from Divine Rose II as my transition (AND blush, too!), Menagerie Flight Club Sky Puppy crease, deepened up with Flighty, all 3 cascading into a perfect blend, Megabat on outer lid, but then I switched over to SG X Temptalia Quintessence for everything else except my tearduct brightener, The Mielke Way all over middle and inner mobile lid over Nyx Glitter Primer, Galactic Muse inner halo eye up into inner crease and inner lower lashline (very editorial!), Celestial Bloom and (from Quintessence) Forget-Her-Not on outer lid (and outer lower lashline) up into crease meeting with Galactic Muse as the completion of the halo eye. UD 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Empire outer lower lashline to blend my usual tightliner pencil that I often also use on my outer lower lashline to make sure that tears don’t have any chance of ruining outer lid e/s. Inner tearduct was ColourPop Perfection from the Virgo quad. Usual black upper tightliner, winged liner and waterproof mascara.
Cheeks: Huda Beauty Glowing Bronzer in Tan Light, PML Rose Seduction as a blush draping effect, Ofra Covent Garden highlighter.
Lipstick: Ooh, this was unexpected! First, I used Maybelline Vinyl Ink in Capricious. It LOOKED gorgeous, but sooo sticky! After I ate my dinner before the concert, I was happy that I had thrown MAC Relentlessly Red Retro Matte in my bag, because I applied that over having blotted my lips, it lasted through the concert singing along, drinking my large cocktail, all the way back home! Still looked PERFECT when I went to remove all that beautiful artistry 😘

What was the hero product of the week for you?: Nyx Glitter Primer! It is the most allergy tear-proof primer I’ve used! Wish I had thought to use it Labor Day to dinner and the Odysea Aquarium! But, nope, I forgot.

Any products you want to use next week? MORE Quintessence and MORE Nomad Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde palette, please!

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: A very pretty eye look featuring SG singles: Tiana on the upper lid, Recruit on the lower lid and Phosphenes next to the lash line. I paired it with MAC’s Fresh Moroccan lipstick. Loved it.

What was the hero product of the week for you?: SG Singles and On the Horizons Light palette.

Any products you want to use next week?: More of the above.

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: honestly, compared to others here, my favourite looks are so boring and so much the same from week to week that I feel almost embarrassed posting them but the other day, I went a bit “off piste”. I was at a school with an early start on Friday so did a quick look – EYES – MAC Vanilla all over my mobile lids just to make me look “awake”; Wedge or Cork (not sure which) to contour the crease; Sephora’s discontinued Diving in Malaysia to line; IT CC concealer – it doesn’t really conceal anything but I use it as an eye cream with a bit of brightening effect; CHEEKS – the blush from the IT Vitality Face Disc. LIPS – what else? MAC Craving over Elizabeth Arden’s lip primer

What was the hero product of the week for you?: though I didn’t use it in the look above, it was MUFE’s Golden Khaki Artist Shadow (the old version) – what a supremely wearable shade that is!

Any products you want to use next week?: if the cooler weather actually does arrive, MAC Posh Pedigree quad and Chanel Tisse d’automne

Oh – the other thing I want to use this week…the very old and very wonderful Pulp Fiction palette from UD! Y’know, back in the day when much of what UD released was actually GOOD! It’s one I don’t reach for very often but I should use more as it’s such an easy colour palette for someone like me, whose looks are almost always neutral and – well – boring!

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green eyes, warm brown hair.

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: Definitely the first look I did with the Shroud Hallobean palette. Here’s the link if you want to check it out! https://www.instagram.com/p/CikoQjqJlxX/?igshid=YzA2ZDJiZGQ=

What was the hero product of the week for you?: Nothing really!

Any products you want to use next week?: I have so many palettes I want to try more: Unearthly After Dark and Not Normal, more Hallobean, Lunar Beauty Moonspell, ND My Dream. So many palettes and not enough eyes!
