Your skin tone/coloring: very fair-neutral (leaning warm), dark hair, light eyes.
Look you loved this week?: A sort of monochromatic look with the e.l.f. bite-sized palette in Pumpkin Pie, paired with UD blush in Hush and a warm, peachy-brown lip.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I rediscovered my UD Gwen Stefani blush palette. (I know it’s really old, but the formulas don’t seem to have gone off! They still perform beautifully.) It’s a lovely assortment of shades and ones that are easy to work with on my fair skin.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I’d like to play around with the Jalapeno version of the e.l.f. palettes–there’s a gorgeous gold in there that I want to figure out how to incorporate into a daytime look.
Skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, s&p hair
Look you loved this week: ABH Modern Renaissance palette (Antique Bronze on lid, Red Ochre in crease), Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner in Smog on lower lash line; Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara; and Benefit Goof Proof Brow and Precisely My Brow Pencils (one to shape, the other to fill in). FACE: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, Hourglass Mood Exposure Blush, Laura Mercier Baked Bronzer 02. LIPS: MAC Lipstick in Spirit.
Any new or old favorites discovered: ABH Modern Renaissance palette, which has gone unused far too long.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week? Experiment with looks using other rarely used palettes.
I have come here to talk about the product I am looking forward to NOT using next week…root cover spray. I have a hair appointment next week so I will not have roots to cover! Since the salons closed in March, I have gone through one and a half cans of Rita Hazan Root Concealer, a can of DpHue Color Touch-Up Spray, and a can of R+Co Bright Shadows Root Touch-Up Spray. Normally it’s about one can a year because I am pretty diligent about keeping up the color. For the record, I like the Rita Hazan best.
IKR? Someone came into the store with a smart, short, NEW haircut, and I actually yelled’YOU GOT YOUR HAIR CUT!!!’ I had no idea they had opened, and I have ~8 hairdresser customers. Wouldn’t you think….? Well, glad you will have a color appointment. Madison Reed is sponsoring every podcast. Criminologist/DNA expert sell me hair color? No, thank you. MR probably has rubbed their collective hands together all through the pandemic to date.
Ah Lesley – I just had to have a little chuckle! I completely understand where you are coming from – I absolutely loathe it when I can’t get a hair appt. to have my roots done.
Yay for the hair appointment!
I just had cut and colour done the day before yesterday and I cannot tell you how GREAT it feels! I was the same with the root covering spray but I use the drugstore one from L’Oreal. As I’m in the process of trying to grow in my grey, it’s mostly a matter of touching up the back 2/3 of my head and I only do the top layer as that’s all people can see unless I go out in a hurricane! But, oh, to have the colour done and my fun purple bits put back and to have the layers at the back of my hair in actual layers (rather than unruly clumps) again is BLISS.
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Look you loved this week?: I did looks using the Menagerie Cosmetics Violet Ink palette for 3 out of the 5 days I wore make up, so lots of purple and I loved it!
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The Violet Ink palette! I love purple eyeshadow so much and am so glad I added these tones to my collection. It’s such a quality little palette.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: More Pastel Pup palette… pastels are a little out of my comfort zone, so I’m easing into it. Also more L’Oréal Age Perfect Serum Foundation. The first time I used it it was perfect, but I paired it with a different primer today and used a little more and it’s not as nice today.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Look you loved this week?: I used the softer shades of Naked 2 – YDK and Chopper and paired it with Damaged from Vice 2 – all the shades complemented each other well. I wore CP’s Foolish lipstick.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Not really – just giving love to as many products as I can…
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Every day is a makeup adventure for me, so I just try to be a bit creative and see what colour and shades that I can combine to complement what I am wearing.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Look you loved this week?: EYES: UD Primer Potion in Enigma. Cut crease look using Natasha Denona Retro Mini Palette: Vintage Taupe (all over entire lid), 60S (crease and wing, and outer 2/3 of lower lash line), Galaxia (mobile lid and cut crease, over Makeup Revolution Cut Crease Canvas in Illustrate; wrapped around inner corner and on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line). UD Perversion Mascara. BROWS: KVD Brow Struck Dimension Powder in Dark Brown. LIPS: NYX Liquid Suede Cream in Tea & Cookies. CHEEKS: Matte soft coral blush. I don’t remember which one. FACE: Wet n Wild Photo Focus Primer Water in In Love With Coco; Everyday Minerals Semi Matte Base in Fair 0N; Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Face Powder; Sephora Color Contour in Tranquil; City Color Cosmetics Intense Exposure Highlighting Powder; e.l.f. Mist & Set.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Wet n Wild Photo Focus Primer Water in In Love With Coco. It’s great under powder foundations. My skin is going through a really oily phase, so I’m using powder foundations more right now.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Nothing in particular. I’m just working my way through palettes that I didn’t get to try yet.
I remembered what I did for blush. I mixed Lucid Glow and Infinite Flush from the Hourglass Ghost Quad. It’s the first time I got the blushes to give that perfect Hourglass look on me. I used a Wet n Wild blush brush, which is super soft and has a lot of give, and that was the secret for me.
Your skin tone/coloring: Beside my name, brown hair w/highlights, hazel eyes.
Look you loved this week?: Seeing as my foundation isn’t agreeing with me anymore I bought Sephora gradual face tanning gel, then I just used Cle du Peau cover up on my hyper pigmentation and as a highlighter, a touch of a random blush, Givenchy Blue Pink lip balm, MJ Pewter Please eyeliner, Huda Legit Lashes Mascara and a random eyebrow pencil. Just a basic paired down look to go for a walk with my husband.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The face tanning gel from Sephora is giving me a nice glow and giving me enough confidence to go without foundation.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: MJ Olive You eyeliner, I tested it on my hand and it left a nice little sparkle.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light w reddish undertones
Look you loved this week?: No look 🙁
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I am finally the very proud owner of Hakuhodo J104!!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Hoping to just use any makeup 😛 It’s hard to get the motivation.
Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Look you loved this week?: as per an earlier thread, I used the Tarina Tarantino Emerald Pretty palette twice this week (and plan to use it again today) – Dandy Lion on my mobile lid, Sawdust Heart (a deep, rich brown) in the crease and a bit stamped on my outer lids, Glinda’s Kiss on the inner lids and Sephora Cappuccino to line . Clarins Concealer under my eyes, Australian Gold tinted sunscreen in place of any base products, Bobbi Brown Maui bronzer as blush and MAC Full Fuchsia on my lips.
Any new or old favorites discovered?:
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?:
oops, hit “reply” too soon
Any mew or old favourites discovered: the Tarina Tarantino palette and also the Bobbi Brown “bronzer” – I’d put it aside since last summer and figured I really should start using it.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week: not a colour cosmetic but I was finally able to get to The Body Shop to replenish my favourite body was from there – the Brittany Coast one – only to find out they’re marked down to $5 because they’re being discontinued (DRAT!). I was nearing the end of my bottle and using it in a very miserly fashion, alternating with other less favourite products. So while I’m sad it is being phased out, I grabbed the remaining bottles they had and may make the rounds of the other Body Shop in the area to see if I can scoop up a few more.
Your skin tone/coloring:light. MAC NC 20
Look you loved this week?: Any look using either Lime Crime Venus XL 2 or Natasha Denona Tropics
Any new or old favorites discovered?: New: Clarins Sunrise Glow Bronzer, Tom Ford Gold Dust Bronzer and Estee Lauder Modern Mercury. Old: Origins Pinch Your Cheeks Blush in Rose Dust and Laura Geller Baked Blush Trio with Pink Grapefruit, Maui /Bora Bora and Honeysuckle
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: With Work, I won’t be wearing too much makeup. It will just be mascara and brow pencil!
Look you loved this week?: Only wore makeup once this whole month, used Gnarly from the Colourpop California Love palette to set my UD Primer Potion and then tightlined with MJ Highliner in Blacquer 42. Topped the eyes with the Tom Ford Emotionproof Mascara and ABH Brow Wiz. On the face I applied Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer, Tarte blush in Quirky, and Colourpop SS Highlighter in “Glow Burst”. Wore Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherry Blossom on the lips.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The Revlon Super Lustrous was one of my first lipsticks ever and the one I’m using now is my second tube (repurchased after I used it up completely). Thank goodness because now it looks like the shade I use has been discontinued.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I have been casually attempting to pan both the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer and Wet ‘n Wild MegoGlo Highlighter in Precious Petals, and although my makeup usage has taken a nosedive I have them queued up to use next.
