I think it’d be fun to go through what we used, purchased, resisted, and so forth each month, here are some questions:
- What were your favorites from the last month?
- What didn’t impress you?
- Did you return anything you purchase?
- Or successfully resist temptation?

What were your favorites from the last month? Top of the list would have to be the Australian Gold Tinted sunscreen – that stuff, honestly….simplified my life while protecting me from the sun; Youth to the People Macqui facial oil (that’s it for me for the rest of my life, I say now… – til then next thing comes along), MAC Painterly Paint Pot and Elizabeth Arden Lip Fix
What didn’t impress you? Can’t really think of anything except the item I resisted the temptation to purchase (see below)
Did you return anything you purchase? Not me, nope!
Or successfully resist temptation? The Melt Cosmetics Pressed Pigment palette; I saw it in-store and, as I thought would be the case, most of the right hand had my heart fluttering but the left side, with the exception of CEO, wasn’t a good colour selection for me, so I resisted. Now, if I could have cut the palette in half and only purchased the right half…I’d have done it!
That’s some great sunscreen! I have normal to sometimes dry skin but if I keep up with my skincare routine I don’t have any issues with it drying my face. I’m about to go put on a coat along with my body sunscreen and go exercise in the pool. My only wish is that they had a version that wasn’t quite so tinted for use during winter.
I’ve only had the tinted version for a few months (couldn’t find it in-store til spring-time arrived) but I think it’s forgiving enough that even in the dead of winter, it should be okay for me (maybe put a bit of life and warmth into my winter-pale skin). They do have an untinted version which I just bought the other say – same SPF 50 but no tint and you get more product in the tube. It’s got brown branches on the tube rather than turquoise, which might help you find it.
June favorites:
Dior Mineral Nude Bronzer in Wild Earth. I rarely buy bronzers and after hearing several youtubers say they loved it, I decided to purchase it. It’s a very warm bronzer and works on my warm skintone.
Dior Stellar Shine lipstick in Diorcharm. It’s a bright pop of orange, but very wearable due to the emolient formula. So perfect for summer.
Pat McGrath Eyedol shadow in Corrupt Copper. My new favorite copper. I believe this one is the best of her new shadow singles.
Chanel Deep Eros mascara and corresponding Eros pencil eyeliner. I am a huge fan of red/brown because it makes my green eyes pop. I am fighting the urge to buy backups of both.
Dior Skin Nude Luminizer Blush in Coral Pop. This is such a beautiful blush, especially when topped with the pink highlighter in the new Dior Backstage Face Glow Palette in 002.
Natasha Denona Sunrise Palette. I am wearing this again today. Just give me all the oranges, yellows, reds, and deep pinks!
Didn’t impress me: I will have to look over my purchases and reply later.
Returns: I don’t think so.
Resisted: I wanted Luminess Cosmetics Lion King eyeshadow and sculpting palettes so badly, but I have purchased so many wonderful new items in the past 2-3 months and I want to use what I have. Those palettes are still under consideration for the future
Tammy,
I’ll be interested to hear more about your Chanel Eros eye combo. I have green eyes and have used burgundies in shadows, but never in mascara and liner. Hmmmmmm.
Only got the Cover Fx Mulberry, but based on reviews, Warm Honey will likely be next. Did use Ultabucks. No returns; significant resistance. Best of all, deep sixed 81 items for the trash today. And was reminded of MAC fruity juicy In the Glades, which will get some summer love.
What were your favorites from the last month?
1) Pat McGrath’s Blitztrance Blood Rush – I love the color and the faintest, barely there shimmer which only I can see but it adds that little extra something. I don’t wear it alone, though – I wear it and plan to wear the other 2 (that I bought that haven’t gotten hear yet) as mix-ins to my neglected corals and reds. I like how creamy the Blitztrances are and how faint the shimmer is but it still adds something different. All of my bold colors are primarily mattes and on the dry side so I’m really looking forward to using the Blitztrances with my mattes and finally using some of them up in the process.
2) Smith & Cult Veiled Threat Foundation – I love this. Excellent satin-matte coverage that lasts and lasts. I was and am still waiting for Pat McGrath’s foundation, but the Smith & Cult has surpassed my expectations and is what I have been reaching for these last 3 weeks. This is right up there with my Estee Lauder Double Wear and discontinued my beloved HG Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation.
What didn’t impress you? Tom Ford’s Emotionproof eye color cremes – I am probably going to eat my words but they seem like glorified MAC paint pots. I have not picked any up (yet) – I prefer the mousse-y eye creme color formula.
Did you return anything you purchase? No
Or successfully resist temptation? Picking up the whole lot of new PMG Blitztrances and Tom Ford Emotionproof eye color cremes.
Pearl,
I love taking a formula like Blitztrance and adding it to dryer lipsticks. Over the years I’ve bought many lipsticks that don’t work alone but are still great purchases because I can use them with other colors. I will mix anything, no matter how unlikely a combination it seems, just for the fun of experimenting.
I have been doing that lately with other colors and formulas and it’s helping me use up my abandoned, half-used tubes.
My favorites from last month ?
Saint lipstick in “Jubilee”
and Aether Beauty Crystal Gemstone eyeshadow palette ?
I didn’t return anything
What were your favorites from the last month? I’ve been very Colourpop-obsessed! CP Blush Stix ,CP Lux Lipstick in Cinderella, and CP Precision Brow Pot (which has reached HG status!). I’ve also been loving the Smashbox Cover Shot Punked Eye Palette.
What didn’t impress you? CP Precision Brow Pencil. While I fell in love with the brow gel pots, the pencils didn’t work at all for me. Too soft and wore off too fast. Also, I’m struggling a bit with the Viseart Liaison palette, but I don’t know why. Blending it has been tough. I need to work with it more, I guess.
Did you return anything you purchase? Nope
Or successfully resist temptation? I pretty much gave in to temptation by ordering lots of CP and the Viseart palette. And I just got the notice a few minutes ago that my CP order is FINALLY on its way to me!
I am so tempted by those Colourpop stick blushes! I stopped buying Colourpop a couple years ago because I wasn’t using the products I purchased and was still tempted by all the new releases. Those stick blushes might make me break my no-more-Colourpop rule.
I know what you mean, Tammy. I have several CP products that I’ve bought in the past and never used, but I am just loving those Blush Stix! It took me a few tries to find the best way to apply them, but it’s amazing how they last the entire day, especially because I apply them with a very light hand to keep it subtle and natural.
What were your favorites from the last month? Tom Ford Lip Sparks in Stinger; Volition Strawberry-C Serum; Chanel Les Tissages de Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Beige; Chanel Les Indispensables Les 9 Ombres Multi-Effects Eyeshadow Palette; Huda Neon Orange and Neon Pink Palettes; MAC Desert Lightning Palette; Ace Beaute Oceanic Palette.
What didn’t impress you? I’m happy with everything I bought. THAT I DIDN’T BUY: Jaclyn Hill Lipsticks; Huda Neon Green Palette; Anastasia x Alyssa Edwards Palette
Did you return anything you purchased? No
Or successfully resist temptation? Melt Cosmetics Impulsive Pressed Pigment Palette; Pat McGrath BlitzTrance Lipsticks in Flesh 3 and Emmanuelle; Natasha Denona Sunrise 15-Pan Small Eyeshadow Palette: MAC Lipstick in Natural Born Leader; Fenty Poutsicle Lipstick in Go Deep; Kaja Bento Trio in Chocolate Dahlia; Viseart Rose Edit Palette.
I wanted that Ace Beaute Oceanic Palette but it’s sold out. It’s so very pretty, and I know I would love the colors.
Hopefully, Ace will restock it. Sometimes restocks take them a while, though.
You just reminded me that I DID resist buying something last month—the MAC Desert Lightning palette!
Good job! It’s so hard to resist things sometimes.
Favorite products from last month: Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Guerlain Meteorites in Electric Pearl which I use as a blush, Guerlain Primer Base Tone Up Cushion, Emme Cosmetics Spring Garden palette, Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Bright Raspberry and the Huda powder in Cookie Dough.
Disappointing products: MAC Wonder collection Into Eternity powder. It just wasn’t impressive in any way except the packaging. I was expecting it to be a little lighter but it just made my fair skin look like I had a smear of dirt across my cheek.
Returns: No
Resisted temptation: That is practically a daily thing when it comes to makeup. I didn’t buy the Smoke Sessions palette as I had considered doing when it restocked. I did cave and get the Coy palette but haven’t had much chance to play with it yet. There was a big snafu with Sephora and them saying the package was delivered to my doorstep but I was home the entire day and it didn’t come. Had to do some wrangling to get it re-sent. Then I got it just before leaving for Boise and didn’t want to take it with me for fear of breaking so hopefully I will have some time to play with it soon. So far, I am resisting the La Mer cushion foundation but that is mostly because I want to see it in person and will check it out next week while I am in Seattle.
What were your favorites from the last month?
Charlotte Tilbury color chameleon shadow pencils, I’ve been using them as upper and lower liner that I can blend out with the eyes to mesmerize creams. So ridiculously easy and beautiful!
Armani’s new concealer, the stretch one, I forget the name. I got a sample of it recently. It’s going to be hard to finish up what I have so I can buy this because WOW it lives up to the hype!
What didn’t impress you?
Nothing, I didn’t try a whole lot of new stuff this month.
Did you return anything you purchase?
Nope, I only bought the shadow pencils and some hair product refills this month.
Or successfully resist temptation?
Oh yes, oh yes yes yes did I resist temptation for A LOT of stuff!! I’m quite proud of myself but I’m at the point where my makeup collection is at the perfect size that makes me really happy in the morning and I feel like if I add much more it’s going to change that feeling. So because of that it’s been pretty easy to resist. But July has only begun……..
My June favourites – I’m still loving the Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint for face; it’s just the nicest face product for the summer, IMO. So light yet it still blurs and perfects the skin. I love this stuff 🙂 I also really like the Charlotte Tilbury Enchanted Edward lip conditioner in her gorgeous new packaging. None of the shades in her latest release called to me, but the packaging did, so I picked up the lip conditioner as I know I’ll use it up.
Not impressed – the new Chanel Summer Eye collection. I was drawn to the Blurry Blue quad and Jungle Green liner when I was first saw pics online, but when I swatched them in person….meh. The whole release was an easy pass for me.
Returns – not a thing!
Resisted – in spite of all the gorgeous pics and rave reviews, I have not purchased a single one of the new Cover FX blush duos! I just have so many beautiful blushes in my stash already, so resisting these hasn’t been too challenging for me. So far 😉
