Pat McGrath Blood Rush, Flesh 3, Love Train BlitzTrance Lipstick Review & Swatches
Blood Rush
Pat McGrath Blood Rush BlitzTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich, ruby red with fine, ruby red pearl throughout that gave it a subtle, metallic finish with some shine. It had nearly opaque pigmentation a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging on my lips. The texture was lightweight, creamy without being heavy or too slippery, and comfortable to wear, though I had a bit of product in my deeper lip lines–thankfully, it wasn’t enough that it was noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$40.00/0.13 oz. - $307.69 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "one-stroke colour" with "ultra-reflective pearls" paired with a "silky" and "creamy" texture that yields "multi-dimensional shine." The pigmentation varied from shade to shade with more medium to semi-opaque pigmentation that "full coverage," and the amount of shimmer/glitter also varied significantly from to shade. For example, Blitz Trance has a very glittery look on the lips, whereas Flesh Fatale had a subtle, sparkling finish. They had a lot of shine, though, with being wet in feel or all that glossy, which seemed to linger for longer than the average lipstick--the shine didn't immediately dull after taking a sip of something or talking for a few minutes.
The consistency was lightly creamy with moderate slip, but it didn't feel too thick or heavy, so the color didn't slide around on my lips and adhered evenly for the most part. Shades that were more glittery felt that way in the tube as I applied them to my lips with the glitter being less noticeable on my lips, though those who may be more sensitive to glitter may find it at least somewhat apparent--at the very least, this formulation is not disguising the texture of all that sparkly goodness. They were lightly to moderately hydrating, comfortable to wear, and lasted between three and five hours. I feel like the best way to sum these up as: they're sparkling and luminous with medium, buildable color payoff that lasts an average length of time. They did not have any scent or taste from what I could tell!

Flesh 3
Pat McGrath Flesh 3 BlitzTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, reddened plum with warm undertones and a moderate amount of gold and copper pearl. It had excellent pigmentation that covered my lips evenly in one layer. The consistency was creamy, smooth, and lightweight without being too emollient, so it had good adhesion and felt comfortable to wear. It stayed on nicely for five hours and was moisturizing over time.

Love the look of these – the creaminess, the color and the subtle pearl. I am considering Blood Rush and Flesh 3 but don’t really care for metallics and don’t want to buy-to-try or have to add in other products to have it work for me. I don’t mind subtle pearl ala MAC Viva Glam Rihanna (the red one, it’s listed as a frost actually), but can’t ever see myself in a frosty or metallic lipstick. I am learning that some makeup is just really pretty to look at but wouldn’t suit me and this may be just such an occasion.
The latter is so true, Pearl – sometimes it’s better to appreciate than to buy, if it’s not something we’ll end up using!
Pat Rules! All three of these are DDG. Flesh 3 is superb. Honestly, she creates a level of refinement that simply is unequaled.

A lipstick named after a favorite song from my youth? And it looks this perfect, too? Yeah, you know my answer to that! ?
I’ve got 3 dupes each for the other two, which is a shame since I love Blood Rush, too. But I’m good!
These are beautiful though I think I like how they look in the bullet better than actually applied. Wish they were a bit less pricey – $52 each here in Canada is pretty steep.
Oof … don’t need another red … don’t need another red … don’t need another red ….
Also don’t need any plums. :-/
My thoughts exactly!
I really like both Flesh 3 and Love Train! I don’t really have any plum lipsticks for some reason and I think I need to remedy that.
I actually gasped at your swatches. PM Blood Rush looks like a close enough to that lip product unicorn Chanel Dragon to me.
Your swatches of Chanel Dragon all those years ago was my revelation to how wonderful lip products can be. Of course I found this out after Chanel Dragon was off the market. I am still an eye shadow fiend but now I look for blue-based reds with shimmers all the time. It’s my white whale.
Always love a good red with some shimmer! I was just thinking about Dragon this morning (was discussing HGs that are long gone with a friend).
These all look so beautiful! I especially love the plum, but sadly think it is too brown for me to be able to pull off.
I love your eye look here too, but I can’t find the info for what you’re wearing. Am I missing it?

Thank you so much! I looked so many times and I don’t know how I missed it!
You didn’t miss it – I forgot to attach the look to the review! 🙂
These are so freaking gorgeous. Flesh 3 is a masterpiece. I’m going to end up buying PMG lipsticks yet.
Oh my, these are simply beautiful – stunning shades, gorgeous finish – everything is perfect, except for the price – which is very expensive.
Wow! Such beautiful shades. I don’t have any dupes, and these are super tempting! I wouldn’t buy them without trying, but these seem to me like those kinda of shades to wear when you want a pick me up after a long day, or when you are feeling confident. So lovely!
I really like all three, and have no dupes!? How is that even possible?
I’m not sure I’ll invest in any of the three though as I’m not loving the two PmG lipsticks I have. I love the colours, but not the feel on the lips. Of course, these being BlitzTrance them might be very different.
If I do get one it’d probably be Blood Rush.
Stunning red shades! I have my eye on Flesh 3. Gorgeous lipsticks!
