Becca Macaron Collection Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Mini Set Review & Swatches
Macaron Collection
Becca Macaron Collection Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Mini Set ($40.00 for 0.34 oz.) includes four, miniature-sized highlighters. All four shades have been released before and are currently available to be purchased individually, though Prismatic Amethyst is a limited edition shade. I found that the quality and texture of the minis in this set was comparable to the full-sized versions I have of all but Opal, as my original Opal has a creamier, smoother consistency (and generally, I have found most of the newer Becca highlighters to have a less cream-like feel, though they still function and perform similarly). A full-sized highlighter retails for $38.00 and contains 0.28 oz. or costs $135.71/oz., which means the set contains $46.14 worth of highlighter. Unless you’re the kind of person who finishes up products or sticks with one shade at a time, I think the set is a great way to try four different shades for a little more than the cost of one single shade.

Vanilla Quartz
Vanilla Quartz is a soft, white gold with warm, yellow undertones and a luminous sheen. It had excellent pigmentation with a smooth, blendable consistency that wasn’t too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. The highlighter applied easily to bare skin, blended out with little effort, and lasted well for eight and a half hours on me. It was consistent with the full-sized and standalone mini-sized versions I have.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.25 oz. - $152.00 Per Ounce
The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

Opal
Opal is a medium gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, while the texture was soft, blendable, and a smidgen more loosely-pressed in the pan than my original, full-sized version but very similar to the mini version that can be purchased individually (for $19). There was a noticeable luminosity added to my cheekbones, which did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Prismatic Amethyst
Prismatic Amethyst is a pale lavender with a cooler, pink-to-violet shifting shimmer and pearl. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer and buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being dusty or powdery in the pan. It applied evenly to bare skin, diffused easily along the edges, and did not accentuate my skin’s natural texture. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz is a light-medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a luminous finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer–just shy of full coverage–that was buildable to opaque coverage in less than half of a layer. The highlighter had a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that was consistent with its full-sized version. It applied nicely to my skin and didn’t emphasize my pores or texture, and it was easy to diffuse the edges for a seamless blend. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before it started to fade.

I love that they did a mini set like this. I’m lusting over it big time.
YES! I love that they are individual minis, too, not in a palette, so if you don’t like one at all, you could also give to a friend/family member or even just donate!
The wrap label glue on these pissed me off…. ? Love the shades though as I wanted there Rose Quartz and Prismatic Amethyst in the full size but just could not justifying buying them so these minis are perfect.
I was noticed the looser pan packing in Opal and Vanilla Quartz as well. The was also such a minor colour shift as well but I could only notice it on my pale in person.
If I cared a little more, I’d have used some Goo Gone, I think it is, on them. But you know, I will forever remain surprised that not every brand (for EVERYTHING) uses the type of sticker/glue/label that peels off nicely.
We have rubber glue in magazines for makeup samples… Let the extra packaging peel off!’
Cooking oil also desolves stickies but it take a bit more rubbing. Less toxic and you can clean the oil away with brush cleaner or makeup wipes.
I was already planning to pick up a couple of the Becca mini highlighters (with Opal at the top of my list) to try – will 100% get this if it’s available here, sounds perfect.
Hope it comes to you, A!
I just bought an ABH Glow Kit and I have six other highlighters, so I don’t need these … and yet, I still want them.
I saw this set at Sephora, and it’s too cute! I SO wish they had come out with this before, as I prefer mini sizes in different colors, rather than 1 big pan that takes forever to make a dent in. Now I don’t need this, as I have dupes 🙁
What a great gift. 4 fab shades from a beloved HL brand.
Oh my, these are really nice, and a good deal, too! There’s something to be said in favor of mini highlighters. As in, I *know* I have far too many as it is, but could perhaps justify getting this. I probably will!
Hopefully it comes to the Netherlands as well… This screames my name. I want to try Becca Highlighters for so long now and can decide what shade I want. And with this set I can get most of them.
I purchased these minis and I love them. I already had a mini Opal from last year’s Sephora Faves Highlighters but it didn’t bother me to have another one. I’m not a big fan of powder highlighters in general as they tend to look too shimmery and not flattering on my fair skin but I love Becca’s formula. I already have and use a lot the 2017 Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette. I love that you can work this highlighter formula to look subtle or intense shimmery, depending on your preferences.
I need this like I need a hole in my head, but gosh I want it. I have a definite weakness for those little Becca UFOs (I have far too many of the “X flashes Y” collection.)
I love the idea of this, but I wish they did a set for darker skin tones. Unfortunately the majority of these are all too light for me, and I already own opal ?
I think a mini set is such a good idea for anyone to try out Becca’s products and these are really popular shades.
Such pretty colors. I have a deluxe sample size of Champagne Pop by Becca and Laura Mercier’s highlight # 1. I haven’t made a dent in either although I used them all the time. For that reson, I am regretfully passed on these beauties.
This set is adorable.
BTW, Becca’s website says Vanilla Quartz is limited edition.
The mini is listed as permanent!
Oh weird. Okay, thanks.
Cute, really cute, but I just don’t need another highlighter, seriously. Well, I don’t NEED another anything, but I’m not into highlighters as much as eyeshadow palettes. These do look so cute and travel friendly though and I think they’d make great Christmas gifts.
This set looks very pretty. I am always so tempted to acquire more highlighters, but I have such oily skin I turn into a disco ball within 4 hours – it just doesn’t work for me with ANY “glow” products.
However I may just purchase this for the Amethyst highlight; my Birthstone! Thinking this will be in my Sephora cart soon.
