Anastasia Sweets Glow Kit Review, Photos, Swatches
Anastasia Sweets Glow Kit
Anastasia Sweets Glow Kit ($40.00 for 1.04 oz.) includes four sparkling, metallic highlighters in a cardboard palette. It’s new and limited edition, and it is also exclusive to the brand’s website. As you might expect with the Glow Kit, it’s not for someone who only likes a subtle highlighter; it is most suitable for someone who likes bright, bold, sparkling, and/or metallic highlighters. For some skin tones, three of the four shades may also work as luminous blushes. Sassy Grape and Butterscotch have larger sparkle/glittery flecks in them, while Marshmallow and Taffy are smoother and have a finer shimmer overall. All four shades were pretty pigmented, wore for eight to nine hours, and were blendable on the skin, but all four did emphasize the texture of my skin; Marshmallow I could apply without emphasis if I was careful, but the other three still added texture to the skin even when applied sheer.
As a note, two shades–Sassy Grape and Butterscotch–showed part of the powder lifting away from the edges. I dropped my palette a few times onto hardwood from 2-3 feet, and it didn’t seem to get any worse; then I pressed the powder together with my fingers and repeated dropping it, and they didn’t re-separate. However, I have seen almost a dozen photos of people receiving their Sweets kit with shades entirely broken (often Butterscotch, sometimes Sassy Grape or both). From what I have read, nobody has had an issue with Anastasia replacing and resending a palette.
Marshmallow is a bright, white gold with a cooler, whitish base and warmer, pale gold shimmer. It had good color payoff with a smooth, blendable texture that was soft without being too loose in the pan. It worked well with feathery brushes like a fan brush as well as more traditional blush or highlighter brushes. The color wore well for eight hours on me. Sassy Grape is a medium, pinky-plum with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The pigmentation was mostly opaque, while the texture was metallic and highly reflective on the skin. It did emphasize my skin’s natural texture noticeably when worn all-over the cheeks, and when I tried it as a barely-there highlighter, I still had a little bit of emphasis, but it was not as noticeable. The powder itself was looser in the pan, though soft and blendable. It wore well for eight hours on me. Cover FX Blossom (LE, $34.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Becca Amethyst Flashes Geode (LE, $34.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). ColourPop Angel Food (DC, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Kosas 8th Muse (High Intensity) (Highlighter) (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). NARS Free Soul (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Physicians Formula Rose (P, $11.99) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Butterscotch is a bright, light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. This shade has a very intense, reflective finish on the skin with barely any product as it is very pigmented. It has some noticeable sparkle that sits on the skin, and the more metallic finish paired with the denser, thicker consistency overall did result in emphasis of pores/skin texture for me. I think that it does reflect so much light that the emphasis wasn’t as noticeable as you might expect it to be. The color wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading. Anastasia White Sand (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Authentic (LE, $28.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Huda Beauty Azores (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Dazzlegold (LE, $34.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Makeup Geek Midnight Sun (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Huda Beauty Fiji (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Make Up For Ever 13 Ivory (P, $21.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Anastasia Dripping in Gold (P, $34.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Viseart Ablaze (Highlight) (PiP, ) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). ColourPop Thimble (LE, $10.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Ciate Starburst (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). Taffy is a slightly muted, medium-dark rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich color payoff with a smooth, blendable texture that felt almost cream-like to the touch. Though it wasn’t as sparkly as Butterscotch, it had a high-shine finish that reflected a lot of light and had some mild emphasis of skin texture/pores on my skin. This shade lated for almost nine hours before fading. NARS Orgasm (P, $28.00) is lighter, more muted (90% similar). Looxi Beauty Valley Girl (P, $7.50) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Laura Mercier Inspiration (P, $45.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Omg, it’s so gorgeous. I absolutely don’t need anymore hightlighters, but I want this so bad!
Do you have any dupes?
Yay! Back up in the A range. ? Butterscotch is my least favorite in this palette because of the glitter and the fact that it’s more conventional/ less exciting- I would have preferred a bubblegum or cotton candy pink to round out the four. That’s why I’m more forgiving of Sassy Grape- even though the texture isn’t perfect, the color is super fun. I paired it yesterday with UD afterglow blush in Rapture and it looked fantastic- I added a little City Color Gypsy in my outer corners to complete the look ?
A cotton candy pink would have been great!
Sassy Grape and Taffy are my faves. They’d be blush all the way for me. The’d probably be a little hard on my pores.
These are definitely not pore-smoothing!
I really like these, they’re better for my skin tone than the moonlight set, but a tad too metallic for my taste. Pity these aren’t labeled for eyes — I’m loving Sassy Grape; I’m inspired now to find an eyeshadow in this pinky-purple tone.
Totally understand – these are definitely for someone who LOVES shine/shimmer/metallic finishes!
As soon as I saw these I ordered this one and Moon Child!!I love Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow kits!I have them all.
Enjoy, Nika!
i also received mine smashed to smithereens! my replacement is on its way!
I hope your replacement arrives A-OK!
I NEEEEEEED IT. I am as pale as a ghost but I love your idea of using the darker shades as blushes. Marshmallow is literally to die for though.
You will like it then as a blush palette 😀
These ought to be great on darker skin tones. It seems most of he dupes are blushes, as marketed. Subtle, they’re not. These, on my tablet, do not show as much color differentiation as the moon palette. Nice, though.
They will be great on darker skin tones!
Thank you so much for the review! and the pictures!
by any chance would you know how Marshmallow compares to Nars Albatross? Thank you for your help.
Albatross is lighter and less metallic!
Gorgeous (but I knew that as soon as I opened the box from Anastasia)! I am wearing Blue Moon from the Moonchild Palette today and will wear Taffy from the Sweets palette tomorrow. I love these highlighters!
Did your Sweets arrive broken at all, Tammy?
No, my Sweets palette was totally intact?
These are SO pretty, too bad about them emphasizing pores 🙁 I sure wish Anastasia would sell these as singles, because I already have dupes for 2 of the shades and can’t justify spending $40 for Sassy and Butterscotch. I’ve been using more intense highlighters lately because I’ve switched over to a more matte primer for summer, and the subtle highlighters don’t cut it anymore, will save those for winter.
Singesl would be amazing!
I wouldn’t want my pores/uneven skin to look more noticeable, but I’d love to try Taffy at least! Looks so pretty *_*
I can definitely understand that!!
I want this, but not for the face. I love a sheer, metallic wash for the eyes, and this palette gives more bang for the buck than a traditional eye shadow palette.
Gotcha! 🙂
“I dropped my palette a few times” oh my god my heart almost stopped while reading that. I thought you’d done it accidentally then I was like “oh dear god that was on PURPOSE!”. Thank for doing things and trying things that the rest of us are too terrified to do!
I’ve ordered it and I can’t wait to use it!
No problem, Chelle!
That was the upside of dropping packaging as a rating metric – no more having to drop things all the time, lol!
This looks gorgeous! However I do have larger pores on my cheeks – do you think it would still look nice, or is there a similar highlighter out there that does not emphasize texture as much?
Similar formula or color? There are other highlighter formulas out there that are definitely less emphasizing than this one!
Thanks for your response! I was thinking color. I really like how they are metallic-y, almost duochrome.
Sassy Grape looks gorgeous! I really like the colors.
It’s really pretty on!
Still hoping Sweets Glow and Moon Child pop up in Sephora before they’re discontinued… The international shipping and conversion rates to Canada from their site is too ridiculous to justify—but the palettes look like a must-have! 🙁
That would be awesome if they came to other retailers!
Wow, what you did for review purposes amazes me! The dropping it on the floor part….I don’t think I’d have been gutsy enough to actually do that, even though I certainly do appreciate your doing so in order to show that these *may* have some sort of batch difference or something else contributing to all those other palettes arriving broken.
As much as I LOVE all 4 shades, I don’t know if I want to risk getting one of their bad apples?
There is definitely a very large number arriving broken – like more than is “normal” for powder products, unfortunately 🙁
I ordered both Sweets and Moonchild….and they both arrived shattered and unusable. Hoping my replacements arrive intact otherwise I am throwing in the towel on them.
They do look stunning though so fingers crossed!
I hope you get yours intact!!
Holy crap Taffy is gorgeous!
Agreed!
This glow kit is just perfect – beautiful colours, not too shimmery and quite versatile. Lovely.
It is nice!
This is a very interesting colour combination! I don’t need more highlighters but this one looks gorgeous!!
It is a pretty set of shades!
I love this, I don’t care how many highlighters I already have, I want it when it comes to the UK! The only dupe I have is Moonstone for Marshmallow but this is bolder. Sassy Grape is the one i especially want this palette for!
These are fun ones 🙂
I was not impressed with any of the ABH Glow Kits…until this one. I might actually purchase it.
Just the color selection or actual quality?
This is probably the prettiest Glow Kit yet! I had my heart set on grabbing the new Sundipped but I think I’m going to buy this one first and grab Sundipped later. These colors are a bit more unique and everything a glitter junkie like me could want. I hope she releases it in stores!
It’s very versatile, I think!
Ooooh it looks pretty, but I don’t know if I will be purchasing. This might seem a little irrelevant but have you tried the Anastasia banana powder? I’m looking for a good yellowy powder to set the under eyes that doesn’t exasperate dryness, I also heard about the Ben Nye Banana Powder but not sure which one works best.
Sorry, I don’t have that!
Hello, Is this glow kit limited edition?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, it is limited edition – it says right there in the Glossover 🙂
My sweets pallet also arrived all broken ? I’m so disappointed?
Oh no! 🙁
My first one that was delivered had butterscotch broken quite badly, ABH customer service were amazing and sorted it really fast by sending out a replacement but butterscotch was broken again but not as badly.
Awww! 🙁
Hello, I just wanted to ask if butterscotch compares to Anastasia so Hollywood ??
It’s the only highlighter I ever wanted this bad but it sold out before i could get it :'(
I saw hundreds of swatches and videos and the way it reflects the light is so beautiful to me & I had hope when I saw this one.
Im 123 (Y365) in MUFE HD foundation, so I also dunno if it would be dark ?
Thank you !
