Anastasia Norvina Pro Pigment Palettes from Best to Worst
Now that I’ve managed to thoroughly review all three volumes of the Anastasia Norvina Pro Pigment Palette series, here’s a short ‘n’ sweet ranking of them from best to worst. It’s a bit more like a ranking from workable to mediocre as Vol. 1 reviewed the best with a B-rating, which ended up to be consistent with my experience across the other two volumes.
The matte pink/red/orange shades seemed to apply better than other colors, like green and blues. The matte eyeshadows were inconsistent; they were often quite pigmented but then sheered out (due to powderiness) or they would erase shades near-to or underneath (though it wasn’t all matte shades that did this).
The shimmers were a mixed bag between the volumes, and they worked better with a dampened brush. Some shades were pigmented, others were drier/dustier, and a few were stiffer or sheerer. I didn’t feel like they improved substantially over primer, but your best bet would be using a more hydrating base (whether a creamy or stacky base or something else) rather than anything thin, translucent, or more matte. (Anastasia’s primer worked terribly for me with these palettes, but it is extremely drying for me to begin with, so I wasn’t surprised.)
For more in-depth information on the formula’s inconsistencies, please read my Vol. 2 review. For transparency, I purchased Vol. 2 and Vol. 3, while Vol. 1 was a press sample.

These leave a lot to be desired. The inconsistent quality is bad enough, but anyone suffering from migraines or sensory processing disorders would likely find that just looking at one of these can induce unwanted internal reactions. The chaotic layout literally gives me agita! ?
If I were to purchase one of this season’s mega-palettes, it would have to be Viseart’s, as it has a nice, neat, cohesive layout as well as high quality.
Buh-bye ?
From “workable to mediocre” just about sums them up Christine.
From average to below average
From poor to really poor
What a huge amount of time and effort you invested in these palettes.
I only bought the first one and returned it. Was not impressed at all!
Hi Christine, the original rating of volume 1 was a B- which you state in the narrative here. But the rating that’s showing here is a B …
It’s B-rating as in hyphenated, not as in B minus (that would be B- rating).
?♀️Ok thanks Christine!
I think it’s possible to make a B palette work, you just have to keep playing with it. I got the ND Star palette (B minus rating) before I was cross-checking reviews and didn’t mind wearing the same look every day. In the end, I got a bunch of different looks, just because it was the only palette I was using (to justify the $169 price tag) and I got to know the shadows well. There’s a perfect crease shade, all-purpose blush and contour, a light bronzer shade, and my favorite blue-brown pigment up until that point. The reds were great for a beginner like me who didn’t want massive pigmentation. It was a great learning palette, just took time to get to know it. Contrast that with A rated PMG subliminal platinum bronze (cool-toned 6-pan). No learning curve. Just bam. Amazing effortless looks.
That’s kind of how I view Christine’s ratings now. Anything less than 90% is gonna take some finagling and may not last all day.
In the case of this pro series, however, the arrangement was a non-starter. Even if they had gotten high marks I couldn’t bring myself to look at them, let alone buy any. Just relieved they were mediocre at best.
That is super insightful! I’m glad that you were able to get the Star palette to work well for you after getting to know it!
Eyeshadow palettes are my number one weakness, and these were so painfully easy to pass on – bad quality or no – that it should really be saying something. I am tempted by Most and have to steel myself. But here – Nothing cohesive, no excitement in the packaging, no real value for what it is, just a big mess.
