Anastasia Eyeshadow
Anastasia Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.59 oz.) just launched at Sephora and Ulta, and you can purchase four for $40, which will get you a refillable 4-pan quad (Sephora’s system will only let you purchase a discounted set of four once per order). I’ve only ordered my eyeshadow singles from Anastasia directly, and I have ordered eight at a time and have received 8-pan cardboard palettes to put them in. However, the quad from Sephora is all plastic with a clear lid–it looks a lot like MAC’s newer quad packaging.
Anastasia Burnt Orange Matte Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.59 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark orange-brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had great pigmentation with a soft, finely-milled texture that was just a tiny bit dusty. It applied well and blended out easily. The color wore well for eight hours on me. Make Up For Ever M664 Fawn (DC, $21.00) is darker (95% similar). Coloured Raine Gingerbread (DC, $6.99) is more muted (95% similar). Sephora Clay (LE, ) is darker, cooler (95% similar). Anastasia Peach Sorbet Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.59 oz.) is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff, but the texture is dense and thick enough that it can easily emphasize the lid texture and appear uneven. It is better applied with a flat, firm brush with short strokes or used with a lightly dampened brush (helps to smooth it out). It wore well for eight hours before creasing slightly. Melt Cosmetics Beaming (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Dose of Colors Suz (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Fine Pearl (LE, $6.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Chai Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.59 oz.) is a muted, dark brown with a saitn finish and soft, warm undertones. It had good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that ran a smidgen on the drier side but wasn’t noticeable when I was applying it to the lid. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours before fading. Viseart Mocha (Warm Mattes #11) (P, ) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Schemer (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). I love these pretty warn browns. I just got the Too Faced PB & J palette, though, so I’m good for awhile.
Oh, yeah, the PB&J palette should cover you for awhile!
Beautiful colors.
Agreed!
Oh yessss! So glad Sephora is now carrying these, and all 84 shades too, and Ulta has about 80 shades! Previously, only Macy’s had them, and only about 50 shades (heavy on neutrals), and no sales either. And I can stock up during Sephora and Ulta Platinum sales. Oh dear, between these and the MUFE shadows, my wallet is starting to panick
Yep! I’m happy to see the singles at other retailers now!
Thank you SO much, Katherine. I didn’t realize that these were now in store at Sephora (even in Canada – I checked!). I’ve been obsessed with getting Pink Champagne and now, finally, I can get it without dispatching my younger son (on his next co-op term in San Francisco) to get it for me (there would be much eye-rolling if I were to ask!).
LOL, your son must be relieved ! OMG, I swatched Pink Champagne in store and it is absolutely stunning, totally worthy of obsession. It’s on my must-buy list for next Sephora/Ulta sale.
I wonder how the MAC eyeshadow price decrease will affect that of other companies, who create similar traditional powder eye shadows and have set their pricing structure according to the competition. I think I would personally much rather buy a set of 4 MAC singles for $24 than four of these ABH ones for $40 (or $32 for a set of pre-selected x9 MAC shadows that are about equivalent volumetrically).
As long as the MAC shades are comparable in quality, then MAC would definitely be the way to go from a value standpoint!
I’ve been eye-balling these singles for some time now. They look promising! I see that my local Sephora here in Dallas has the full line of Anastasia products, including these singles. It’s nice to swatch them in person! Thanks for review!
Ooh, very nice to hear that some Sephora stores are getting the full line in!
Yes it is! That’s rather exciting! Nice score, Sephora!
I kind of like Beauty Mark. I’d have to use it as a liner though. I think it’s a bit too warm to use in a full on look for me.
It would be great as an eyeliner!
Oooh I’ve been eyeballin’ Peach Sorbet for a while… I was so excited to see that Sephora has all (to my knowledge) of the ABH singles, & even though I put myself on a beauty budget, I went ahead & ordered 4 singles. They’re all ABH staple shades, nothing new or exciting lol.
I’m so happy you told us about the palette being different, Christine! I definitely would not have been expecting that… I rather like the little cardboard ABH quad palettes.. you can bend the lid around, which is always a plus in my book!
* oh! On a side note—I couldn’t resist the MAC price drop either! I ordered 6 MAC staple shades! I legit need help ? I will spend every single penny I make on makeup!!!!
It’s sooo nice to see the singles elsewhere and seemingly the full (or mostly) range!
These 4 shades make a really nice warm quad. I love to see a matte getting an A!
They worked together well!
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. A Christine designed palette?? I LOVE these colors together. I’ve been tempted by these singles but didn’t know where to start. I do now! Thanks a million, you rock!!
Happy I could help, Alicia! 🙂
I really only love the Peach Sorbet colour – it is beautiful. The others I cannot really wear because they don’t suit my colouring. But they are lovely.
Thank goodness you can buy it individually 😀
Looks like a nice everyday palette. I really like that darkest shade.
It could be!
These colors are gorgeous together. I’m absolutely loving the gold.
They came out nicely!
I’m glad Ulta and Sephora will be carrying these! I hope my local stores get in a good selection, so I can swatch them! I’d better go through my wish list to see which shades I put on it as you reviewed them, Christine!
Me too, Fran! They are SO much more accessible now!
Very pretty! On the look out for something similar to Beauty Mark. 🙂 Love the eye look you’ve created Christine.
Thank you, Ouineque!
Oh, these are my kind of neutrals; warm & toasty! Then again, probably for the simple fact that these are what works best with my coloring. I may need a few of these, especially anything that doesn’t dupe whatever I have!
They are gorgeous 🙂
I’ve almost purchased Burnt Orange and Beauty Mark a few times. They’re on my list! I love the look you created!
Thank you, Cat!
