Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette Makeup Look Ideas (x10)
Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette ($54.00 for 0.60 oz.) is a very warm-toned (more orange/red-toned) palette with mostly mattes and a few shimmers. Like Naked Cherry, I struggled to use the palette on its own in a way that I liked–a lot of variations still looked similar applied for me, so if your experience is the same, the combos below might be a good starting point, but I know I’d be adding in more light and mid-tone shimmers along with at least one deeper shade (perhaps a deep brown or deeper, richer plum) to create more definition between shades.
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palette
Even though I certainly appreciate this post as well as your efforts to show how one can more than just one or two looks from this palette, I feel the same way about it as you, it and Cherry are so one-note! That being the case, I’m actually considering getting the Rimmel dupes for them that I’ve been hearing good things about instead! The above templates you’ve put together would still work 100% with those, too! ?
Thank you for this post! This is a pallette I bought cause I loved the aesthetic but in practice have not gotten good use from. I think your ideas will inspire me though!
Fantastic ideas Christine on how to get the most out of this palette. It would have been a tad difficult because of the similarities between the shades and limited range. Very pretty combos too.
Thank you Christine, I bought this and I haven’t touched it because it really kind of intimidated me, and that doesn’t usually happen. Now I’m going to have to play with it.
Thanks for this Christine. I just bought this palette Tuesday, so this is so helpful.
I have this palette. Yes, all of my looks do seem to look very similar, but I love it nonetheless. It is really difficult not to create a good looking eye with this palette.
Yeah, it’s great if you dig the type of look it creates! 🙂 I think it’s pretty BUT with 12 shades, just on a personal level I struggled to give readers’ some variety in outcomes as I try to do that (showcase the breadth of a palette).
Oh! I will definitely be referring to this post next time I use this palette. It’s one where I really like the colors and quality, but I often struggle how to put new looks together with it. Thanks Christine!
Thanks so much for these, and the Cherry ones too!
I really need to dig this palette out again. It really is made for my colouring (dark brown hair, white but neither so fair nor cool that I can’t pull it off, pale blue eyes) and while the samey-ness of the looks is uninspiring, the colours are stunning on me.
I’ve struggled with the palette because there’s not much range in it; I just haven’t pulled it out for some time. But I’m inspired by this post and will play with the palette this weekend.
