Best & Worst of BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes

BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a powder blush is supposed to have “12-hour wear” thanks to the “primer-infused” formulation that is supposed to “seamlessly blend” with a “luminous finish.” It is scented with a “subtle, beachy scent” (it smells a bit like coconut and suntan lotion… aptly described a”beach,” but wasn’t a scent I detected much on, though my sense of smell has been dulled down lately). Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation–and some where intensely pigmented to the point where the warning “use with a light hand” comes into play–with soft, finely-milled consistencies that were a little dusty in the pan.

The finish varied from satin to more pearlescent, and one shade has larger sparkles to it, so you’ll want to pay attention to the finish of a particular shade if you are particular about the level of shine/shimmer in your cheek colors. I noticed that most of the shades applied darker and richer on my skin, both my forearm as well as my cheeks, than they appeared in the pot. The blushes blended out well and lasted between nine and 11 hours on me–definitely a bit longer wearing than average. They looked smoother and were more forgiving of skin texture when worn on bare skin than the average powder blush, too.

These are really great blushes overall, a very welcome addition as there are not too many new blushes around. I think they have most skintones covered in their range and they are all of excellent quality at a reasonable price.
Thank you for reviewing these Christine.

I’m really happy about these, as I always long for blushes that can handle the punishing inferno that this place slowly becomes come May, sometimes April. Seychelles is the only one that I believe I will buy without first testing it on myself. The pink shades seem to be almost neon once applied! That does scare me just a wee bit, LOL. So those I will test in-store just to see if any apply less vivid on my complexion.

I love the look of the more pink tones and also Goa and I prefer a blush with a bit of sheen so I’m most likely to buy either Goa or Dolly but since finding my beloved Dior blush, I don’t get all that excited about blushes any longer. I will check these out in-store though and perhaps treat myself to one.

OMG, I love your “Round-Ups” in general but the video format on top of your normal Round-Up just makes this soooo awesome. I’m not even interested in these blushes but I wanted to say I thought this Round-Up was amazing!!

Thanks for uploading the video. I plan on swatching these in store and seeing what I think of the pigmentation on myself. I always *feel* like I am putting enough blush on, but then notice that it looks like I have barely any on when I get to work. I think it is probably the lights where I get ready (and my being nervous to over do it)… but if I had a high impact blush to start with maybe that will help? I think these look really nice so I’m excited about them.

It can definitely be a lighting thing – like in person, my blush tends to look heavier than on camera, just because of how much light there is for photos vs. everyday life. You could just try to layer a bit more or maybe take your blush + brush with you to work and top up a few times to get a better “feel” for it.

Hi Christine, how do these compare to the Clinique cheek pops? People have been saying they have a beautiful satin finish, and I do love satin finish blushes. How does the glow compare, and are the clinique ones still one of your favorite satin blushes? Thanks for this review!! I know I always always count on you =)
