Becca Year of the Pig Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review & Swatches
Year of the Pig
Becca Year of the Pig Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a soft, golden peach with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. I didn’t get much pink-peach, mostly peach, in the pan, swatched, and applied, but those with pinker undertones might find it looks less golden when worn with a lighter hand. The consistency felt soft, a little dusty to the touch, but it wasn’t too powdery in the pan and sat well on my skin when applied. The highlighter had nearly opaque pigmentation in one layer, but it blended out easily enough that it could be applied sheer and built up as desired. Most of Becca’s highlighters are quite metallic and intense, but this was softer, more luminous and lit-from-within, so it definitely didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture but may be not enough oomph if that’s part of why you might prefer Becca’s formula over others. On me, the highlighter stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

I want this solely for the cute little pig design. But I have to be much more selective in what I purchase this year because I have so much makeup, and a cute design is not a good enough reason to purchase a highlighter.
Just think that the more use you would get out of it, the less and less piggy design you’d see… and therefore, one day, no design at all! Pfft. Money saved!
Too true! And saying goodbye to the cute little piggy would break my heart. Money and heartbreak saved!
Jessica, I feel exactly like you do; I wouldn’t want to wipe away this cute little piggy!
My kind of highlighter – soft and glowy. I’m on a no – buy but I think i’ll have to splurge later!
I will be sorely tempted, if they do an adorable Rat next year. It seems Westerners are rather put off by the rat, and forget the good qualities he represents. Maybe his HL would be on the silvery side. One can hope. The dear little pig is pretty dupable. HLs seem that way to me: so much more difference in the pan and swatch, than when applied. Unless you try differing lighting, etc, try to really capture the HL’s essence. In average room lighting, so many are so similar. I realize that highlighter hogs (pun intended) do not see them that way at all.
I think I am about highlighter’d out. I have so many and a lot of them I don’t use much as they looked like they would work on my fair skin but turned out to be either too dark or pulled way to warm on me. So, passing on this cute little piggy. I do love me some cute embossing and admit to buying some products in the past, just for the embossing but trying to be better about that.
Too cute for words! ?
Which is a *bad* thing for me, because then I would hesitate to use it. As an actual highlighter, it is surprising to see that not only do I not own a dupe, but there isn’t even 2 full pages of dupes for Mr. Piggly Wiggly! ?
That looks so pretty and as it is a peachy shade, I am interested.
Would this highlighter be light enough for fair skin?
Sure!
Even though I can’t wear these warm toned highlighters, I just love the pig imprint! I’m going to pass on this one but I’m still holding out hope that Becca makes the Berlin Girl Glow highlighter permanent. I’ve been kicking myself for not getting it while it was available because now it’s gone.
I just purchased the Berlin Girl Glow on Becca’s website a few days ago! If you haven’t purchased it yet, check and see if it’s still there. I’m supposed to get it tomorrow from UPS and I’m so excited ❤️
That piggy is too cute! The highlighter itself is really pretty, too. I’m going to pass, though. I don’t really need it.
Becca wins the price for cutest embossing of the year! I love the little piggy, I’m not going to buy it, and I’d have a hard time using it as I wouldn’t like to hurt the little guy 🙂
I only had 3 hightlighters :Becca champagne pop; wet and wild and the one in the hourglass unlocked palette. I dont love the wet n wild one but I use it nonetheles and one of my twins broke my champagne pop about 2 weeks ago ?, i tried to repressed it twice but they are so sotf the become crumbly immediatly and they fall apart ,so i had to part with it..anyways long story short I got it to replace champagne pop but i didnt like it was $5 can more than the normal ones?
