There are too many fantastic reds on the market for me spend $55+tax for just one. Plus, I’m not someone who likes fragrance in my makeup. The packaging is gorgeous, but this is definitely a skip for me.

Totally agreed! I am “that person” amongst my friends and have an absolute arsenal of red lipsticks, and I’m always happy to acquire more.

But at this price? With a strong scent — unlikely to go well with whatever fragrance I’m already wearing? Not a chance!

If you are a Killian fragrance person, and prone to using 1 to a few statement or signature lipsticks, these might be your jam. But fragrance, esp from a fragrance HOUSE in a lip product strikes me as an exceptionally bad idea. Strikes me that these probably have volatile oils, and quite possibly Benzyl Salicylate (to beat my old drum). No way, Jose. Not to mention that I don’t like any Killian blends, lol.

I wouldn’t even want my signature scent in a lipstick! I can tolerate something vaguely food-y like vanilla, or even lipstick scented lipstick (as in … it smells like the base components), but a straight-up perfume? [shudder]

Thanks but NO THANKS (and I’m not someone who has issues with scented products but I am baffled as to why some companies put it where it’s not only unnecessary but also unappealing). And the price of these? Well, I know Tom Ford has sent lipstick price tags into the stratosphere but for some people, that is a week’s worth of groceries and as much as I enjoy makeup, there’s a certain moral threshold I won’t cross in paying for it.

I don’t get putting perfume into most makeup products and especially lipstick. I don’t want a funky perfume scent on my lips nor do I want it competing with my chosen scent. Like everyone else, this is an easy pass for me.

Nice reds. But nothing we haven’t seen before. I would be far more keen to buy a Miss Pat exquisite red like Guinevere or Elson before I would go for these. Besides, other than the vanilla in MAC, lemon in Bite, or peachy scent in Fenty Lip Bomb Gloss, I really HATE fragrance or heavy perfume in my lipstick or gloss!

I love Kilian fragrances but this seems like a profound misread of the market on their part. I think they easily could have had a hit with these without the fragrance angle, just as stand-alone gorgeous, high quality lipsticks (see Tom Ford, Louboutin, etc.) but I really don’t see these taking off. I definitely would buy one without fragrance, but I purposely avoid scented lip products.

Killan is the brand that creates all those ultra expensive perfumes…interesting that they have chosen to enter the makeup market with lipstick.
They look lovely, but with Colourpop, Lipstories and even Revlon churning out some A grade lipsticks, it’s hard to spend that kind of money on these.

Interesting branding, but I find the shade descriptions lacking. Red with red undertones? Red with blue AND orange (thus…brown?) undertones?!

Ummm … no? I’m sure there are people who dn’t mind perfume in lipstick (something that doesn’t smell edible), but it would make me gag. I don’t care how good the perfume is, it doesn’t belong on the lips.

Some of these shade descriptions are weirdly contradictory, especially Aphrodisiac. How can a lipstick have both blue and orange undertones? Blue and orange create grey, which I’m sure the chemists who created the pigment blends are already very familiar with.

when I spotted Killian perfume at Sephora last year , I was stunned . Killian has been such an exclusive high end luxury brand ( I Love “Good Girl Gone Bad ) “ I couldn’t understand why the “pop” launch . I found out Estée Lauder aquired the brand .
I hope they don’t kill the name , because putting perfume in Lipsticks is no bueno……..

Interesting, I didn’t know about the EL acquisition. I was surprised to see them at Sephora, I actually bought one of the scents but it definitely doesn’t have the siliage or complexity of their regular fragrances. I’ve been wearing Back To Black for years and it’s still one of my favorites.

If I’m going to invest in some new reds it’s going to be Lisa Eldridge’s as soon as they’re restocked. And I can’t get enough of the Fenty Glossbomb scent but there’s no way I want perfume sitting that close to me nose. Of course, I always buy red lipstick because I like the idea of it, but I never feel comfortable actually wearing it. The Killian packaging is certainly gorgeous though.

I have one of the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, the 1930s dark red. It’s gorgeous, easy to use, lasts a long time, is comfortable. I love it. I hope they restock soon.
When you buy, let us know what you think.

I just bought Dangerous Rouge in the Satin finish. The smell is sweet, like some other lipsticks, nothing overpowering or that interferes with your senses. Beautiful color, long lasting. I’m anxious to see how this stacks up to the Bond No 9 red lipsticks that come out next month,

I actually am obsessed with the smell. It’s vanilla and neroli and it is making me happy. I find I am grabbing it off my desk to put on every few hours even if I don’t need to reapply!

I’ll be the odd woman out, I have no idea who Kilian is (brand or otherwise, so after writing this, I’ll research that some 😉 ). And so glad, as I concur that $55 for a red lipstick when you can find so many great ones for less, just doesn’t entice me at all.
