My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: MAC Illusionary/Burning Ambition MES duo, MAC Sweet Sentiment blush, Guerlain Champs Elysees lipstick, IT Bye Bye Undereye concealer, Lise Watier Multi-Fini Foundation
Most used product of the week: MJ Skinny Liner in Blacquer, Sephora Contour Eyeliner in Cappuccino and Clinique Jenna’s Essentials quad (why did they ever discontinue that lovely quad, I wonder?)
Any new beauty discoveries: Dr. Roebuck’s Bondi Hydrating Spray.
My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones, MAC NC37, Lancome Teint Idole 24H Foundation N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.
Favorite look you worn: Yesterday’s look, because it got a lot of compliments at Sephora from SA’s and MUA’s! I’ve been on a green streak, so I pulled out ABH SC for most it. Eyes: Dawn as a base/ blending shade, New Wave as transition, but I built it up to full strength, Destiny in my outer 2/3 of crease swept upwards and out, CP Play By Play inner lid, CP Game Changer mid lid, UD Wanderlust outer V, ABH Electric pressed onto mid lid because it is just too pretty to ignore, UD Riff on lower lashline, with Sephora Contour Pencil in T-Rex on lower lashline and inner half of upper lashline, usual black tighliine, outer wing and mascara. Cheeks: UD Jawbone, Smashbox Rosemantic and DoC MÃrame. Lips: Nyx Earthtone SLP, Tom Ford Derek, with a little bit of MAC x Mariah Carey Butterfly Bling.
Most used product of the week: The deluxe sample of Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Serum! This stuff is a MIRACLE WORKER. If anyone knows of a lower cost dupe for this, please let me know!
Any new beauty discoveries: Last night, on a whim, I got a sample of DE Propitini (?) something or other. Tried it, and this morning? WOW! If anyone has any insight as to how I saw some results literally overnight, tell me please!
That sounds like an AMAZING eye look, Nancy T! And I’m very curious about those skin products you mentioned.
Thank you, Seraphine! It was, if I don’t say so myself, lol! As for these 2 very new to me skincare products, I’m very impressed by how quickly I was able to see results. With the Sephora 20%, I’m thinking of getting both, but no more color cosmetics in this series of hauls.
Isn’t T-Rex a lovely colour. I have a weakness for dark green liners (MAC’s d/c’d Rosemary & Thyme, Sephora Snakeskin Dress and all the Sephora teal shades they d/c’d also) but T-Rex is different from ALL of them and so lovely. I have to say I am impressed that you can manage a look with so many shadows. I get confused and lost if I try to use more than 3 colours at one time. You need to come to my house (it’s a distance, I know) so you can teach me!
T-Rex is amazing, Mariella! It just glides on so easily and with full pigmentation. Funny thing happened at Sally’s Beauty Supply when I stopped in for my root t/up dye; the SA actually *thought* I had BLUE eye liner on and that it matched my eyes perfectly! LOL! I’m guessing that their atrociously bright lighting had something to do with that, or she’s color blind. Idk… ?
Your eye looks sounds magnificent.
Thank you so much, Rachel! I’ll say this, I’ve been riding a green wave!
Skin Tone/Coloring: Skin tone is light neutral, hair is salt-and-pepper, eye color is green
Favorite Look Worn:
This week, I challenged myself to do a look using all drugstore products, so I thought I’d share it here. The basic look was nice, but some of the products were pretty disappointing, while others were great. I started with CeraVe PM Moisturizer and NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer (both great). Then I used NYX Microbrow (disappointing), Wet n Wild Silent Treatment Eyeshadow Palette (not bad!), Cover Girl Total Tease Mascara (good), L’Oreal True Match foundation (disappointing), Maybelline Age Rewind concealer (I don’t get the hype about this one), RCMA No Color Powder (my favorite powder—not literally a drugstore product, but it’s drugstore priced), Milani Blush in Luminoso (just ok), Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter in Precious Petals (love), and L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine Glossy Lipstick in Varnished Rose (very nice, but not long-lasting). I finished with NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray.
Most Used Products:
My lips were very dry and irritated the first couple days of this week, so I used Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms (Zinnia and Hibiscus) a lot. Nice product, weird smell. Also, I recently received a free sample tube of Guerlain Orchidée Impériale The Cream, so I used it every night before bed. It’s very nice, but I didn’t experience anything that would make this product worth the exorbitant $455 price tag. Not that I’d ever spend anywhere near $455 on a jar of face cream, anyway! I’m happy to stick with my Clinique Moisture Surge.
New Beauty Discoveries:
Not necessarily a *new* discovery, but this week made it very obvious: High end products are so worth it sometimes (foundation, concealer, and eyebrow products), but other times there are inexpensive products that work just as well (mascara, highlighter, and moisturizer).
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: I used the Maybelline Burgundy Bar eye palette pretty much exclusively this week – so versatile it is. I used a champagne shade on the whole lid, with the deeper plum on the lower lid and the taupe shade in the crease and paired it with my MAC Fresh Moroccan.
Most used product of the week: My staples plus the Burgundy Bar palette.
Any new beauty discoveries: That I love Chia Seed oil on my face.
My skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin (foundation matches: Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc, Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Light EF 2), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde and blue streaks
Favorite look you wore: UD All Nighter 2.5, Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin 10 Ivory concealer, CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin 120 Creamy Natural powder, Tarte Amazonian Clay Unstoppable blush, KVD Egypt shadow on lid and browbone, LA Colors FYX: Bronze #2 shadow in crease, UD 24/7 Lucky eyeliner on top lashline, Tom Ford Extreme TFX24 mascara on top and bottom lashes, KVD Studded Kiss Creme Backstage Bambi lipstick
Most used product of the week: My base products
Any new beauty discoveries: My chin mole is more visible and my skin seems to be clearer when I mostly stick to one foundation and only use a second one if there are any gaps left after blending the first.
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look you’ve worn: EYES — Too Faced Shadow Insurance. UD Distortion Palette: Rogue (crease), Blackout (to deepen the outer V and true crease), MInd Game (brow bone), and Shag (foiled on lid). MUG Highlighter in Celestial (inner corner). Coloured Raine Vivid Pigment in Level Up (lower lashline). ABH Love Letter (brows). Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum (winged liner, upper lid). UD Perversion Mascara. LIPS — Fenty Beauty Iridescent Lip Luminizer in Mermaid Thighs. FACE — NYX Angel Veil Primer; Lancome Teint Idole 24H Long Wear Foundation in 140 (N) Ivoire mixed with Manic Panic white; Ben Nye Neutral Set; Tarte Exposed, Sephora Tranquil (as contour), MUG HL in Celestial; e.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Most used product of the week: Lancome Teint Idole 24H Long Wear Foundation in 140 (N) Ivoire mixed with Manic Panic white. I had a cystic acne breakout and needed full coverage.
Any new beauty discoveries: Most of them aren’t really duochromes, but I still love how pretty the NYX DUO Chromatic Lip Glosses Are.
I just can’t make the mattes in the Viseart Amethyst Theory Palette work on me. I’m gifting it to a friend. Maybe she’ll have more luck. At the very least, I made her quite happy. 🙂
