Editor's Review

MAC Rouge en Snow Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark red with strong, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, while the texture was smooth, dense without being stiff, and comfortable to apply without feeling slippery on the lips after application. The color was still going strong after six hours of wear and was neither drying nor hydrating.

I have a ridiculous number of red lipsticks, but this is by far my favorite ever. It works beautifully for my skin tone, is beautiful, rich, and goes on easily.

Colour: mid-tone red with a strong blue undertone that threatens to, but ultimately doesn’t, show up pink-tinged on my lips. Finish: this is more of a semi-matte than a true matte; it smooths the appearance of the lips. Application: it glides on like a satin lipstick, but is actually quite stiff; it takes 1.5 layers to be properly opaque. Wear: non-drying and lightweight on my easily dried and chapped lips; transfer is surprisingly minimal for how comfortable it is; can survive light meals and plenty of drinks without touching up.
